Excited to try this out. In all seriousness though, if you're playing with a mate who is on a rock solid line to google / wikipedia / wolfram alpha surely it's pretty easy to cheat right?

Cant wait to try it out also, and according to Grift (i think) the is no time to Google anything as the time you are given to answer is very short and also the fastest answer wins.

Yea, will probably give it a go myself, been lookin forward to it. Im a bit curious about how much of an investment of time it is though, sitting for an hour+ doesnt seem very workable for what is supposed to be a casual game.

It's quick enough that people can't cheat, but if you're playing as the One or the Mob, the speed in which you answer has no bearing on how well you do.

If you are part of the crowd, however, you get bonuses for answering more quickly.

I played this game and I don't get it. It was fun, but I didn't understand what the hell was going on.

So I went into this game, there is four other players around me--which all seem to be real players and it seems like we can talk to each other. Then there is this other bunch of avatars and I wonder if ANY of them are are real players--my guess is they are not?

Also, what is the difference between the one, the mob, and the crowd? How do you get put into this groups?

By the way, I really liked the fact that lots of questions were very new. I was playing around the time of the NBA finals and there was a question about the Magic breaking certain record (shooting percentage), among other new things.

Also, you can not cheat with google in this game. The only way to cheat is if you play with a bunch of people to your side so that way you have lots of brains working together. No googling though, it's not even about trying, it's just impossible. By the time you type the keywords and find a result the time is either over or it simply was not worth it (you have to answer fast to get more points).

And one question, this is still a beta right?

The other players you see around you are not real players, but there are a lot more real players actually playing in the crowd.
Also, what is the difference between the one, the mob, and the crowd? How do you get put into this groups?
The One is the person who is playing to win. He's playing against the Mob...who is made up of 100 players who get eliminated as they answer incorrectly. If the One answers incorrectly, the Mob gets the "money" that the One has accumulated, and they divide it amongst themselves(at least on the show anyways). The crowd is just everyone else who didn't get selected to be the One or the Mob, and they are playing against each other for a high score. Selection is done via a lottery kinda thing that we don't actually see. The more you play, the more of these vouchers you get that enter you in said lottery.

Ah thanks for the explanation. So at any one point in time, you are only truly playing with 4 other players correct? Like actually being together and you can talk to them and see their avatars, right?

If you are part of the crowd, then yeah, you are put into groups of four. You're still playing against everyone else in the crowd(can be thousands of people), but to make talking feesible, you're placed in more manageable chunks. At least this way, you can goup with your friends and at least compete against each other.

Just got this from the shopto.net uk games site.
How would you like to take part in a live quiz show from the comfort of your own home? How about if we told you that this was “1 vs. 100”, the hottest quiz show in the world? From 10 July Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers could win Microsoft Points, Arcade games, an HD TV and more by taking part in “1 vs. 100 (beta) Season 1”.

“1 vs. 100 (beta) Season 1” is a special Xbox LIVE edition of the “1 vs. 100” show that will air between 7.30-9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, presented by our live host James McCourt who you may know from The National Lottery. Just like the TV show upon which it is based, “1 vs. 100 (beta) Season 1” selects one person, known as The One, from thousands of Xbox LIVE Gold volunteers to go up against a panel of 100 contestants chosen to stand as The Mob.

When the ultimate prize for the season is a Fiat 500 CAR !, with other prizes including Samsung 46" Crystal TV LCD TV 1080p & Samsung Home Cinema System it’ll be hard knowing when to quit. There’s also a Samsung Q210 - Pentium Dual Core T3400 Laptop and Casio Ex-FH20 SLR Digital Camera up for grabs in the sweepstakes that launch at the start of “1 vs. 100 (beta) Season 1” – that’s 00:01 on 10 July. And even that’s not all because starting from the second week there will be Skill Prizes allocated that include more digital cameras, HD TVs, holiday vouchers and laptop PCs.

FAQ has all the answers;-
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/1vs100/1vs100livefa...

If you are late to the game, you join the Crowd for that round. You are then eligible for the Mob and the One for subsequent rounds. I think playing in the Crowd improves your odds of being in the Mob or the One though so earlier the better.
