now i want to see russia vs germany final

germany's victories puzzle me, have they really had strong team to warrant getting to the finals of these tournamets or is because its german and its past history in the game

I'm kinda shocked about tonight's game ... not necessarily the result, but the Russian performance.

The commentators were being wayyyy too harsh on Arshavin. The reason he didn't play well was because his supply was limited. If you noticed, he never had less than two defenders on him the whole game. Their only threat was Pavlyuchenko in my opinion, who I have been thoroughly impressed with throughout this tournament. I know that if you stop Arshavin playing you effectively stop Russia playing, but I was still expecting much more from them.

Looking forward to the final now, and I shall be cheering Germany on in the final ... only because Ballack plays for them though.

What a tournament it's been though. :)

I think Spain will topple Germany and I feel aside from injuries that Germany has just been lucky

Spain has the most attractive game by far this tournament. Germany probably the most effective. Unfortunately, the latter mostly beats the former.

I'm rooting for Spain, I've nothing against Germany, but I prefer Spain's approach to the game.

why is this tournament regarded to be tougher than the world cup

I guess because it is Europe only.

I mean, this tournament theoretically does not have the best countries in the world playing. In the World Cup, the teams there are generally the best teams in the World ... excluding teams such as Togo of course. ;)

Saying all this, the football in Euro 2008 has been a trillion times more thrilling and technically superior to the 2006 World Cup. I guess that's because England aren't in this one though ...

The World Cup in all fairness is bassicly a Euro tournament with Brasil and Argentina added to it as potentional winners.. The rest (with all respect) is just schedule-filling..

Europe is by far the strongest continent when it comes to depth in quality of footballing nations.. 2nd is South-America, 3rd Africa, and 4th probably Asia.. The rest is far behind.. This results in low-quality countries competing in the World Cup (because their continent they qualify from is weak) which you don't see in the Euro tournaments..

Overall offcourse the World Cup is harder to win.. Added Brasil and Argentina as potentional winners, and more matches to win it.. The World Cup is only won by really big footballing countries that are always among the favorites.. The World Cup in mordern times never had fluke winners like Denmark or Greece like the Euro did, which says enough..

All true, although don't be surprised to see African teams becoming more of a threat. Teams such as the Ivory Coast and Ghana are more than capable of posing a serious challenge.

The 2010 World Cup in South-Africa will most likely give some African nations a boost, but it would surprise me if not any of the traditional favorites will walk away with it again..

I hope South-Africa will do well, and I hope Nelson Mendela will still be arround to witness it.. It's gonna be awesome, 100.000+ packed stadiums etc.. (and for me normal viewing times because it's in the same timezone as Europe)

Kind of off topic, but it involves me trying to get a jersey/shirt

Can you Europeans translate 70,00€ for me? Is it about 110 USD?

Well done Spain and unlucky Germany (well, unlucky Ballack). Football won today as well as Spain, because they've have been the most consistent side in the competition. I'm just sad that it's all over ... ah well, bring on the Premiership season. Come on Chelsea!

Meh, that final sucked balls. One cheap out of nowhere goal where the goalie did a stupid mistake early in the first half and that is about it.

Germany played bad too, and while I do think Spain played slightly better, it was a crappy final overall.
