Inscrit depuis 7506 JoursI am going to make this simple: Two network cards (Ethernet) on the same PC. one is connected to the ISP via an Ethernet cable and the second is just installed and doesnt do anything.
A flat mate of mine a while ago did set up the second card so that it sort of shares the connection and then I could just plug in my Xbox 360 into the second card and I would get live ? Now I lost contact with that person :( and I was wondering if you guys can help me set this up ? a useful link that has the procedure perhaps. Please bear in my mind that my knowledge is very basic.
I'd appreciate the help.
Thank you very much

Inscrit depuis 7459 JoursI think the way I got it to work was, bridge the card to make one connection, then change the IP address of the card in the property settings so that the 360 can connect to the PC (for this you will need to enable internet sharing also)
It's a real pain in the ass from what I remember to find compatible IP address that both the 360 and PC (ISP) will work with, plus the down side is that you will need the PC switched on to get any connection on the 360.
Marumaro for the WIN !!

Inscrit depuis 7698 JoursIt's the easiest thing in the world, I'm using static IP addresses though, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with DHCP. And I also don't get all what you (Jolli) mean by having trouble to find compatible IP addresses that both the PC and Xbox would work with.
EDIT: I'll tell you how to do it in a moment, but like Grift said, just buy a router, I don't see what is so messy about them.

Inscrit depuis 7698 Jours1. Get to network connections:
1.1 Start>Control Panel>network connections
OR
1.1 start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>network connections (if in category view)
OR
1.1 Start>network connections
----------------------------------------------------------------
2. Bridge the connections
2.1 Highlight your two network cards
2.2 Right click on one of them while both are highlighted
2.3 Click on "bridge connections"
(It'll take a little bit)
--------------------------------------------------------------
3. Verify
3.1 You will see a new icon called something "miniport"
3.2 If you get IPs automatically (DHCP) you should be done.
3.3. Connect your Xbox to empty PC NIC card. Test Xbox Live, that is it.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Try it and let me know. I got it working really quick, and this was through a laptop (wireless), so I don't see why it shouldn't work for you.
EDIT: You MIGHT have to right click the miniport/network bridge icon and click on properties. Make sure both connections under "adapters" have a checkmark.

Inscrit depuis 7027 JoursI know that you always have you pc on so this may pose a problem, but at least you can rig up your 360 this way easily and perhaps download the updates/games/demos etc whilst eating your tea lol.
As many others have suggested, I too would opt for a nice router and be done with always having to rely on the pc. If that bad-boy goes down then your 360`s live access is, in theory, crippled. I know that routers are very cheap now too so push the boat out and get that router dude!.
