Finally got around to playing Gears 2 and By the gods, this is far Better, Bigger and more bad ass than any game I have ever played!

WOW ..... Seriously, this is by far the best experience I had with a game... It's like all my favourite genres melted into one one hell of a game! Absolute madness, Well done EPIC. They clearly showed they are still the boss!

I am at act 4 now ... couldnt stop playing and the Maria storyline was extremely well done. Never expected this much goodness was packed into one game.

So far my online experience has been very good sans 1 time with Pants. Horde is a blast and the competitive MP is solid. I haven't done a ton of match making but what I have seen is very fun. I just wish the gore/language filters worked.

Can't you turn off the gore ? Or is that only possible when you're the host ?
You're right though it would be nice to have a gore/language filter on multiplayer. Certainly something Epic can look into if they have a patch on the pipes.

I have yet to try multiplayer/horde. Right now, I am all focused on the SP.

Glad your enjoying it, i cant see any game topping it's heart pumping intense crazy ride! any time soon, the Maria story was very well done, as they could have easily gone down the path of guy finds and rescues his gal and they live happily ever route, but they did not, its no oscar winning storyline but this is Gears and it was never meant to be, but they clearly put an effort into it this time and it helped the game flow brilliantly, my GOTY for sure.

This game is not without its frustrating parts ... God getting out of the locust stronghold after meeting the queen on those creatures is pure frustration!! especially the dark tunnel part .... Grrrr

It's great to see you're enjoying it, Alimo. It's kinda great that people do get around to playing it admidst all the stuff promising to feel newer.

I have a load of friends who haven't played Gears 2 yet because they figure it's more Gears 1. The only reason I played it when I did was because I was totally skint after getting it by default. It is much more than more Gears 1, it's almost as if the first game is decietful in that sense, setting you up for more repetition and grayness when in fact Gears 2 evokes feelings of multifaceted, thoroughly assembled classics like Zelda or Resident Evil 4.

I completely share your surprise at how much volume there is to it, and whatever the reasons are you wound up playing it in a climate where you'd be totally forgiven for not playing it, I salute them! :)

To be honest, I did get the game around the time it was released but my priorities were Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia which I did enjoy quite a lot but I have to be honest, Gears of War 2 is definately giving me more fun and satisfaction than those two partly because, perhaps, I expected a lot more of those two to begin with, not that I was expecting less of Gears 2 though.

The latter however lived up to the hype, I must say, if not exceeded my expectations. It's by all means NO gears 1.5, this is Gears 2.0 at its best and I am so glad I didnt pass on playing it. When this is done, it's FarCry 2. Great games like these simply shouldnt be missed!

Well that was kinda my point. It gets put in the pile and you gotta have a bit of luck to end up playing it in times like these where other, shinier things are dropping out of the sky like... well like razor hail I guess.

If I could have afforded all the great games coming out at the end of last year as they were coming out I probably wouldn't have played Gears 2 yet, so. I think that's fairly common among people that play essentially all genres and especially over multiple formats like I do so.. it's cool that you somehow wound up playing it because like you say it is fucking ace. :D

Thank god for the Play.com deals: FarCry 2 at £18, PoP at £18, The Last Remnant at £18. TRU at £30 from shopto and then gears 2 at £33. slightly over my end of year £100 budget but it was worth it. For now, No games Until Resident Evil 5! Sadly, Fable 2 will have to wait until it's really cheap alond with Dead space and left for dead too.

PS: oh Did I mention that I love COLE!! The guy is hilarious!!! that whole speech on the mic before we get to meet the queen PRICELESS!!!

just finished the game - HOLY MAGA PROPORTIONS OF EPICNESS!!!! That last level riding the brumack HOLY SHIT!!!! Abvsolutely amazing. This absolutely deserves the game of the year award. No questions about it.
