Banjo-Kazooie: Platforming 101

Rare followed the Super Mario 64 blueprint, and then built on it to create open, non-linear levels with lots to explore and tons to do.
Along the way, Banjo and his pal Kazooie would meet assorted characters who would offer tasks and mini-games, gain access to new
and hidden areas, and collect as many jiggies as possible to progress through the game.

That basic gameplay design hasn't changed.

This adventure begins with Banjo and Kazooie lounging around Spiral Mountain. The duo aren't exactly the same as we left them.
With Grunty out of the picture, the two have been doing quite a bit of lounging. Now they're fat and out of shape. Just when it seems
that the pair will be the victims of sloth and overeating, Gruntilda (sans body) crawls out from a pile of rocks and tries to pick a fight.
Before one can begin, the Lord of Games (Log) intervenes. Log is sick of the fighting between these guys and sets up a series of
challenges with the victor being granted the spoils of Spiral Mountain.

Videos look cool, but the streaming is a bit too slow for me so I watched only first minutes of both.

the game looks very nice stylistically, and graphically. i just dont like the whole vehicle thing much at all and i cant put my finger on why. i guess i just wanted more of the same and this just pulls it in a very strange direction. sort of like perfect dark zero i guess.

Yea I totally hear ya, can't say I'm a fan of the vechicle part, it seems to detract from the platforminess of the game.

I'm sure it will click when I play it though, like making a submarine to go under water etc is a nice idea.

And I guess having a vechicle in that huge area is a bonus :D

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts is built on an updated version of the Viva Piñata engine. Yes, that was surprising to me, too. What it means is that, just like Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, Banjo will feature a camera mode and a community site to share pictures of your creations. Lobb wouldn't go into details other than to confirm that it exists. We should learn more as the community site comes together.

I hope that Rare solve a bit the inconsistent frame rate that is present during thee game, but so far the game looks gorgeous.

The graphics are kind of all over the place, but otherwise looking good. I also would like to have seen more actual gameplay not just showing the levels, but it's welcomed anyways.

Just watched the vids I'm very impressed with what i'm seeing, wasnt expecting much from this game after the previous current generation of RARE games, but this look pretty damn good, graphics are fantastic and the level designs look great.

Unlike some of you, I really like the whole vehicle thing, brings a different/unique edge to the platforming genre and it seems to work really well.

I have to say Banjo is EASILY the best looking 360 game this year. Physics are very precise as well. Rare once again proved that they are technical gods.

And this game has very similar feeling to old-style BK. Art style is similar despite obviously huge advancement in graphics, sound design is the same and the set of activies in these videos also looks pretty much the same as in original BK (I never played Tooie), even though some (most?) of activities are now done in vehicles. And I have a feeling most players who'll play the game will love creating their own vehicles.:D
