They say work on the 360 version hasnt started yet and he even goes to say that they dont have the Dev Kits for the 360 yet ??? WTF, arent they supposed to be working on The Last Remnant ? they should have the 360 kits surely. How strange but then again it's Square Enix!

I guess we shouldnt expect FF13 to hit US/EU until late 2010 that's for sure, if not 2011 given that it's a simultaneous release for EU/US it seems which is good news I suppose.

Different teams Alimo, but still a bit odd as im sure they are under the same roof.

Didn't they say they aren't going to start the 360 version until the PS3 JP version is complete ?

If Versus graphics look even close to that :O

Well of course different teams but my god like you said they should be under the same roof a and even if they werent, they are all internal SE teams, they should all have the dev kits.

Anyway, I am not worried about time scales. it seems porting from the PS3/PC to 360 is a MUCH MUCH easier job than porting to PS3.

Jolli, there was a rumour that suggested that. I guess that's what's being done anyway: Finish the JP version first than port to 360 and localise the PS3 and release the two simulataneously. The good news is it's EU/US simultaneous so no more waiting! :D

If this is the case, forget English subtitles or english menus on the JP version which wont go down well with some people, huh Jolli ;)

Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Asia Version Announced!

During E3, Microsoft announced that Final Fantasy XIII was coming to the Xbox 360 — but only for North America and Europe. However, the Xbox 360 was not announced for Japan. Add another country to the list!

At a recent Microsoft game exhibition in Taipei, Microsoft Taiwan's Entertainment and Devices Division head Grace Chou announced that Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360 would go on sale in Taiwan, but haven't yet decided which localized version will be launched for the Asian territories.

We imagine that means it should be possible for Japanese Xbox 360 owners to import the Asia version and play it on their consoles — that is, unless the Asia FFXIII is region coded so that's impossible. This version could have the original Japanese language track with Chinese/Korean/English subtitles or it might be the English language version with Chinese/Korean subtitles. According to Chou, the language hasn't yet been decided.

Hmm sounds promising, I wonder if the JP PS3 version will be dual language, hope so :D

Besides its not for MS to decide which version is released in Asia, thats up to SE and I doubt they will release it there with english subs as thats guna take a long time to translate.

So when you import these game that have dual language sub-titles, can you also change the menu language so you can read it in English also?

No I was kind of thinking out aloud, I can't remember a JP games that has had english subs, LO was a one off with its english voice overs, but it still had JP menus and such.

I find that no 360 dev kits thing extremely hard to believe lol.

They intend to bring a game to the 360 and have YET to do some actual work on a 360 dev kit? Not even a bit of testing?

Sounds more like they're trying to reassure people who believe that development of the 360 version of the game is going to cause delays with the PS3 version. So what better way to shut people up than to flat out say we don't even have the 360 dev kits yet?

Maybe I'm reaching, but I just find that so hard to believe unless of course the entire game is already going to be a relatively effortless port to the 360.

dev kit is very expensive thing with limitation access
It is not Xbox360 console to get it quick.
Yep, Last Remnant team and tri-ace have it, but they need it to work. they cant give some dev kits to ff13 team coz they need them

so if it is true that they desided to bring ff13 to 360 recently, i think it is ok that they still didt have dev kits

The more we learn, the more we realize just how gigantic a steal this was for Microsoft.

It really does seem that things weren't set in stone or solidified for Final Fantasy XIII to show up on the console until the very last minute.

Square is probably paying attention to the really nice lineup of jrpg titles going to the 360 and figure with all these jrpgs going to the 360, it makes complete sense to release ff13 on the console as well. The same customers that will be buying those other jrpgs are exactly the customer that Square Enix hopes to sell their games to. It would be ill-advised to ignore the possibility that a nice little portion of their customers would be getting their fix on the 360 and FFXIII wouldn't be available on the platform to take advantage of the already nicely prepared jrpg market on the 360.

To be honest, the JRPG line up MS has this year is ALL SE. I hop they are only giving Mistwalker a breather. Sakaguchi! - Come on LO2, BD2, Cry On and announce a new one too!

There's apparently a big feature article in the upcoming issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu that talks Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII and all that jazz. While scans haven't hit the internet yet, we've heard from several trusted insiders who have seen the yet-unreleased issue. It mentions that FFXIII is going to be out in Japan by next summer and in Europe/USA on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 by the end of 2009 — which pretty much what we already know.

Here's the juicy bit: According to the Famitsu piece, Microsoft is footing the bill for Square Enix's FFXIII breach of PS3 exclusivity contract. No idea how much money that entails or the exact deal Microsoft worked out with Square Enix, but the fact there is not Xbox 360 version announced for Japan is telling. Square Enix does state how porting the game to the Xbox 360 should be easy.

More interesting tidbits: It's apparently hard to tell which looks better: Star Ocean 4 or Final Fantasy XIII. Also, the company plans to focus more on PSP game development from now on. File this as rumor until proper scans surface.

Now, MS is paying the bill for the breach of contract ? Hmmm interesting. What's more interesting is that Sony was in fact PAYING for this to be exclusive then ... Ha! what happened to all the "we dont o around buying exclusives", eh Sony???

Well, as of yet, we dont know the details. it could be that MS just payed SE to get the game on 360 without them having to tell them, breach the contract - besides, Sony would be able to sue unless the agreement was that if you go multiplatoform give me this X amount of money, in which case they cant sue if SE pays the money ................ ah I dont know. This whole thing sounds really strange to me to be honest. what did MS do also for Star Ocean ? I dont buy it. I am not defending MS here, every corporation is evil with no exceptions.
