EA just announced Crysis 2 for PC, 360 and PS3.

No details, no media

.“The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio,” said Crytek boss Cevat Yerli.“This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3.“We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event.”

It’s a cert for the EA presser at 2.00pm PST today.

After KZ2, my hunger for FPS went away, but I knew that the only FPS I mightconsider buying would be Crysis on console, even if it isn't as good as PC version (obviously).

Crysis 2 not Cryis 2!

I can't wait for this game. First Crysis is in top 5 of the best SP FPS games for me. I just hope that they do more levels like the first 2 were in Crysis. Hopefully we see soon how well the new engine performs on PC too.

Arg! So no second expansion pack?! The first games story isn't even complete! I guess that's what the sequel is for now. I hope that it's not too far off. Another expansion and then a sequel would have made me far more happy. Hopefully the new engine optimizations make this game look even better (it's possible, right?) and run even better!

Still psyched. Crysis is a great fucking game.

Dammit.. I should have avoided the internet until the press conferences started. All of this pre-E3 news is ruining my excitement for the actual events!

It was? Kinda expected as much, crytek like to keep pushing the PC platform forward, and theyve not really had anything lined up. Guess its aimed at windows 7 DX11 timeframe.
I do not expect Crysis 2 to really push tech forward in the same way that the original release did. Crytek's new engine is about optimization, and not pushing the boundaries forward in the same way. I suspect it will push things a little further, but the investment they made in future technology is still very sound.

Crytek took a very bold approach to game design with Crysis. Most companies (IW/Valve/and even Epic) have designed software with scalability in mind. They are well aware that the more people who can enjoy their games, the better they will sell. Crytek seemingly put technology in front of their games success.. and while I love them for it, they seem to be taking a different approach now.

The success of Crysis is terribly underrated though. The game sold much better than people give it credit for. Hell, everything about Crysis is underrated. It's a great fucking game.

Also: I am a little surprised that this game can be multiplatform and still pick the story off where they left off. Won't console only users be confused? Or.. will they take a different approach? And in the case of the latter.. won't that potentially disappoint people still looking for closure to the original plot?

Can't wait to hear more!

Yeah kinda strange to start from the second game but that has happened before with other games too. They could just include some short video to quickly show what happened in the first game. Then again not many ( those who didn't play the original) are interested about this game as I read so much negative comments some years ago ;)

Should be great story wise. I really enjoyed Crysis even though the snow segments with Prophet was pretty weak. In the last level the Captain of the carrier says the alien ship or whatever it was sent a signal into deep space (some 100 million light years away)....I am thinking its gonna be like Halo. Going to outer space to kick alien ass (Should be awesome :D)

Nano suits, insta upgrade guns, plus now they have access to alien tech with the defeat of several large alien ships and monster machines. I really hope they add some intergalactic element, should be fun. They also need to design some new alien creatures, those floating blue things SUCKED!

Awesome news. Crysis is one of the best FPS experience ever.

Can't wait for part 2. Still have to play through Crysis Warhead though.

Lol I finished Crysis up to the big Fight on the Aircraft Carrier. Then the game starts to lag like crazy for me... It's weird I've just gotten the top of the line computers atm and the game runs fine all the time. Then when I start that section it just freezes to a 3 fps rate.....

I really like that Crysis 2 is located in New York, that should be really great looking on this engine. I just hope that for once this team can get the MP part right as they haven't ever really impressed me in that category before. Crysis 2 SP will be good I'm sure, but if it doesn't have a really great MP it will only be a rental for me.

I'm guessing it will look ace though and push console graphics to a new level. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I dont quite like the fact its in NY because many movies and games are located in NY setting so it gets very boring to keep revisiting it.

I wouldnt mind if it was in some European country or middle east. But non the less, I am excited for it.

SP will be good, if they learned anything from Warhead.
MP, I hope its great because thats the part I am going to spend more time on.

I do hope Crytek can push the graphics on consoles like non other, and on PC...well, its obviously going to look amazing, hopefully my PC can run it on medium/high with a good framerate. If not, PS3 it is :)
