Is the favorite of his and nothing we will say will change that even when the whole world said other games are better.

I happen to love the style of Bayo, and even if I didn't I couldn't care less if she was a dude in a hot dog suit. It'd still be an amazing kinetic experience unlike anything I've played before. If the surface IS hugely important to you though, there's nothing that can help Bayo, or any game that gets on your tits, and that's simply that.

The combat and Ryu as a character is just "me", but I do know that I wont fully enjoy other titles if I keep comparing it to NG thats why i have stopped that.
If kept comparing I wouldnt have bought titles like Dantes Inferno, GOW3, Darksiders...etc. Sure non of them beat NGs combat, but that doesnt mean they were bad in other areas, personal opinion obviously.
With Bayonetta, ONLY thing that stops me from buying it is the style...the exagerated sexual approach style, some may find it funny, some may like it, some may hate it and some may find it "manageable"...i dont like it.
Whats bad is that the style is so intergrated in the combat as well, unlike Devil May Cry were all the cheesyness is only in cutscenes. But as I mention MANY times, Bayonetta's combat is great...looking pass the "uniqueness", and I dont know why I cant see pass the cheesyness of the style and go with combat only when the game has so good content for such a genre.
I do wish I had some of Raptor's ways of thinking for this game so I could pick it up.
A little part within me says "fuck it, the combat is great, skip everything else...if you can LOL" hehe.
But everytime I want to decide and buy it, I hesitate. If I hesitate then it means I am not sure if I will enjoy it or not...and I am a person that wants to be atleast 90% sure I will love a game...I say this from experience because this gen I have spent on too many games that I have traded in a few weeks later or a month or so, and that is not good.
Its funny how NG1 (yes including NGS) has been with me since Xbox era until even now (though I only play NGS2 when it comes to NG) so that should mean something about my feelings for the franchise.
But anyways, I rather wait for something I am "90%" sure I am going to like, wasting money is something I can't afford...too bad I cant just go into a shop and rent games, Bayonetta would have been on my rent list long time ago if the option existed.
I dont care if the main character is male or female, but I want someone that looks and acts serious and doesnt have "cheesy" written all over it.
I wouldnt mind if the style of the sexual approach wasent so integrated into the combat of Bayonetta, I find the design manageable, but whatever.
You would love the game in here, that's guaranteed, but I think a more pressing issue than whether Bayo is too extravagant for your stylistic taste is that you're on the PS3, and the PS3 version of this is extremely lamentable.
The demo wasn't *that* horriffic, but the demo is a dumbed down, hugely tame version of the game. When shit hits the fan - enemy numbers and complexity increases, boss battles get ABSOLUTELY TOOTING BONKERS - the PS3 version all but craps out entirely.
If you need a concrete reason, to put your mind at ease about staying clear, that's a good one.

For example Ninja Blade (lol) I cant take that serious for one moment even though it tries to and its nothing ninja like at all.
I dont mind playing as a female character at all, but the design and approach of style Bayonetta has puts me off. The exageration of the "naughty sexy librarian" is too much for me...in games :P
For example the female designs I find good is Lightning from FFXIII, Lucia from DMC2, Lady from DMC3/4, Trish from DMC1/4, Nariko, Momiji from NG, Shanoa from Castlevania Order of Ecclesia...just a few examples of my taste in designs for female characters in surreal type of games. Some are better than the other, mixed designs, but non is taken overboard.
For example DMC has cheesy dialogues and all that in cutscenes, but in gameplay it is has a serious approach, with Bayonetta not much because they have integrated the style in combat as well...more or less.
And believe me, I didnt find ANYTHING wrong with the demo, because I focused on liking the game and focused on the combat.
Sony did release a patch for the final game, but I dont know much about it.
But yeah, I would enjoy the game alot, I know this, but I am hesitating if it will last long because of the style it has in it...and something within me is saying no. You wont believe how many times I have been close to go out and buy it just to have second thoughts as soon as I see the style infront of me again LOL.
Bayonetta is too exagerated for what it is doing in style (not combat) and its all over the place so its unavoidable. Even the outfits are exagerated in wierd ways LOL...a nun :P
But its a love and hate title just because of the style...unfortunetly I can't like it. I have gone far enough to even look up into the OST, videos, weapons, combos, outfits...find anything that can make make forget the style :(
I am a guy who wants serious approach in design, this isnt cutting it at all...too bad because the combat is so damn polished! ;)
Just buy it already!!!
FROM THE DARKNESS I DRAW MY STRENGTH!!
I used to be like that when I was young, mainly perhaps because irony was lost on me. Nothing came across as absurd to me, so taking the God of War and Gears of War type stories and settings absolutely seriously wasn't an issue.
I mean when a gelled up anime barbie is spat out by a demon in Xbox Ninja Gaiden, that is absurd to me. Stupid, even. The fact that the game treats that as if it's not is nowadays really off putting to *me*. If I wasn't as grossly into the mechanics of games - if the surtface had more pull with me than it does - I would prolly dismiss Ninja Gaiden on the basis of the exact opposite. It doesn't know that it's absolutely ludicrous, and its protagonist is about as expressive and charismatic as a piece of wood. I actually really liked DMC's presentation *way more* than Ninja Gaiden's, but the latter was pretty obviously the better game and one I spent more time with as a result.
But I can sorta relate if I flip that around and the problem instead becomes that I *want* to take it seriously. If I imagine that I in fact do take it seriously by default unless it exposes itself as sillyness. I guess I would find Bayonetta off putting for the opposite reason.
I dunno, I'm still kinda stumped because all that superficial stuff just falls away if I enjoy the core game, but that's me, not Sath.
But yeah, taste and perspective changes with time. I love jazz now, but it's not difficult to recall when I threw myself out of jazz' way as if my life depended on it. Perhaps some day Sath will revisit Bayo and see it in a new light. Until then I think we should get this thread out of its convince-Sath-to-play-something-he's-decided-against rut.
I played it some few days ago because I had a mate over, and I was promptly reminded that I have to return to it and my Hard playthrough. Could I inspire a gamertag collection in here so I can tell what scores/times to beat if I wanna get you guys riled up? :D

IMO as long as the main character looks and acts serious then I am fine because I cant stand cheesyness. Like I said, its manageable in cutscenes, but in gameplay...meh.
Raptor, like Simon said, I am better off not buying it if I am unsure if I will like it in a long shot. Maybe it will be manageable in a few weeks, but what about months from now :(
But lets just leave this alone, I know all the stuff Bayonetta has to offer, if I decide to buy it, I will tell you guys, if not, then I wont bother mentioning it :)
Well this masterpiece wil be there for when you decide to try it Sath!!
Hey Simon I will add you but I still didnt start to play for score I have 1000/1000 though thats an acomplish in itself and I still have the Jeanne run.
