Bayonetta thread (next stylish action from original Devil May Cry I creators)

I wouldn't doubt it being better than both Ninja Gaiden and DMC to be honest.

Sounds pretty damn overthetop.

The clothes she wears isn't actually clothes at all, but her magical hair covering her body and the hair is used in attacking as well. The more insane the attack the more of her body gets shown and sometimes it approaches damn near nude. No complaints from me there :P

The hair turns into a gigantic dragon that will rip enemies in half or a hell that stomps on enemies.

You can do a hand stand and start firing with the guns on her feat specifically.

She even has a katana you can charge for a more powerful attack, which causes a heart to appear. The heart beats as you charge it up, and dark fumes billow from the sword.

Each weapon has a monster spirit and the type of summon that appears during combat is determined on the context of the combat.

When she fires her guns they can ricochet off walls adding more damage to enemies.

I would be worried about the gun on the feet in any other game from any other developer, but these guys usually have a lot of style to their games so I wouldn't doubt it looking really cool to the point that I end up liking it.

This is by far my most anticipated action game next to a new God of War.

Originally wasn't planning on getting Ninja Gaiden 2, but my brother bought it for me yesterday.

Serious level design issues or maybe it's that the camera is so friggin bad that it just makes the level design seem really iffy. The combat just feels badass, as expected and I'm continually pulling off some absolute insane stuff. The combat feels extremely challenging and is incredibly rewarding.

I just wish they put more time into improving the game's engine and the camera system.

I am sure it will be better than DMC2/3/4, and may be in one level with NG1/2

Actually, as I play more of Ninja Gaiden it may be extremely tough to impossible to beat the combat, but I wouldn't doubt it beating NG in other places.

Normally I don't care about graphics engines in games, but the one in NG II is truly dated. This has nothing to do with me having an issue with the graphical quality of the game because I don't think it's a bad looking game, but I definitely think the engine hurts the ability to play the game.

Be it broad daylight or at night when I'm playing ninja gaiden II you just flat out can't see a damn thing at times. This isn't a television brightness issue or just a dark area issue. The engine is just so dated that there is a real issue when it comes to visibility in a number of areas that you have to do way too much work sometimes to figure out where the hell you need to go. The bad camera that I already mentioned doesn't help things much either.

Then I got idiots with arrows shooting me from halfway across the level almost and there is no way for me to get to them and stop them from shooting me in the back as I'm climbing up a ladder or something.

DMC4's graphics engine with Ninja Gaiden II's gameplay would be incredible.

I just want atmospheric gothic dark horror/action/adventure with epic plot with serious characters as Devil May Cry 1 was. NOT idiotic clownery as DMC3/4

Personally I don't think that would go that well. The environments in DMC4 are too limited, and you get loading even when you walk into a small room. The cutscenes in DMC4 look great, but the actual gameplay character models don't look as detailed in terms of texture maps, shadows, and lighting. I actually prefer NG2's clean looking character renders. Not saying NG2 doesn't have it's share of graphical problems. I don't understand why Itagaki can't seem to do unified lighting systems and dynamic shadows considering TN were one of the better graphical devs last gen.

What do you mean? I can see quite clearly where I'm supposed to go, and the levels are linear enough so you know where you're going.

Looks ok I guess, still need to see it in motion, the idea of guns on her feet is bizarre to me.

I guess we will see a video at TGS.

I suspect it will look pretty badass in motion.

Yea vspectra, I can hardly see where I need to go a lot of times in Ninja Gaiden II, mostly on the first level because of the level design. Where you need, I feel, just isn't as immediately obvious as I would like for it to be.

It once took me quite a while to find some tucked away well to fall down into so I could progress forward. I think the linearity is good, but there are times where there is too much stuff overlapping that you get confused as to where you go next so you are like looking all over the place. This was a big problem in the first level and not as much of a problem in the second level. The third level has been flawless in this respect so far. Man... I've been getting stomped though by the major encounters so far and I still know that I haven't had a true boss battle yet.

The main character design is ugly!
Hair for clothing and guns on the boots...just random stuff.

I just hope it looks and plays good, especially plays good.

The design is totally out there, but I suspect once we see her start kicking ass we'll forgive the design.

im with sath, really hate the design for the main chatacter. and beyond that the game just looks like its gonna be a devil may cry clone, albiet a half decent one. even the visuals arnt that different from those images... i dunno, its a game i have to see in motion to really start caring about it, cos atm its not anywhere near my radar.

Well, a lot of sites gave it the most impressive game to watch in action award at E3, so it must be doing something right.

Yep that's exactly what I'm thinking.

I expect the main character to have some sick combat moves. I wouldn't doubt if before long we'll be loving the addition of the guns to the feet when we see how it works out in action.

i like the guns on the shoes thing already, its just the general look of the character as a whole i dont like. theres nothing too stand-out-ish about her looks wise. its like dante is quite iconic in the way he looks, but bayonetta doesnt look to be a character with that immediate appeal. i mean, the moment i saw dante i was like "he's a bad ass" when i saw her i my first thought way "hmmmm, ok, its different i guess"

I think she'll have some immediate appeal once you start seeing her magical hair/clothing come pealing off as she performs attacks with her hair :P

I don't see big bouncing tits on her...I doubt it.

Why couldn't they design the character somewhat like Lucia from DMC2.
You simple, but cool looking, and have good combat skills and "magic".

From the teaser they showed it seems to have alot of blood and gore with the whole head exploding...etc.

I say they will show something at TGS, some sort of a footage.

lucia doesnt come across as a particularly memorable or iconic character design either. plus playing as her in that god awful game wasnt the best *vomits a little at the thought of DMC2*

i dunno. there really hasnt been a memorable female character for a while...i guess nariko is pretty memorable. but creating iconic famales seems to be harder to do then males....not to mention the fact you rarely see them as leading characters in games anyway.

the only games i can think of with female leads for the last few years are kameo, bulletwitch, and perfect dark zero, non of which are particularly memorable (joanna dark is remebered for 64 game, not the 360 game) its kinda weird really. i guess "girl power" died out with the spice girls.

It's a shame that Sega hasn't released any screen shots of Bayonetta in action to share with you. Platinum Games' work on the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 action game really deserves to be seen by more people -- this is the best looking game we've seen at Leipzig. It may sound like an odd proposition in print, a raven haired witch battles the forces of "good" with her mystical and impossibly groomed hair -- hair that also acts as her clothing -- along with a pair of pistol heels, but the style, sex appeal and mind blowing art direction of Bayonetta couldn't be more promising to fans of ass-kicking action.

This bit sounds awesome.
While the initial demo stage takes place in a forgettable setting — yes, I already forgot about it — the new area was jaw-dropping. It takes place on the head of a clock tower, one that happens to be falling from the sky at maximum velocity. Bayonetta casually walks with her signature slink across the face of the clock as she fought off demonic angels. She did so with a mysterious female ally, both of whom were being circled by a massive, ornately decorated sky serpent. On top of the dozens of angels attacking, with clock towere debris falling in tandem and golden halos spilling everywhere, a massive winged mini-boss also attacked. With a body comprised of a decapitated marble statue head and serpentine arms, it wowed us with its artistic and technical achievements.
