Everyone likes free so I tried to gather couple free games I remembered. So basically you can share the free games you know in this thread. Games must be free legally not just some random games that are still sold heh.

I'll try to add if there is some time limits in the games too. Some of the games might have ads. Also Gametap's free games might not work in all countries and will need Gametap client to work. I haven't tested the links myself on all of the games and run your antivirus program before installing. I think those were all the important things, that no one reads.

Betrayal at Krondor, Abuse and Tyrian. I'll need to check if the games really are freeware games. I think those are but I am not sure.

Luke Schneider, a designer at Volition (THQ), initially conceived and developed the game in a relatively short period of time (~60 hours) using GameMaker for an internal company presentation on rapid prototyping. It turned out so well that he was allowed to offer it to the world to play for free.

The thing that bugs me about NAAC is it only supports mouse and keyboard, so it's awkward to control.
It doesn't look like he's updated it either.

Anyway, here's another shooter to try out:

I'm sure people have heard of this, but it's a great SOR remake.
Actually it mixes all the SOR's into one game with enhanced graphics and effects, extra levels which you would never guess weren't made by Sega, etc.

Yeah, totally agree, they should remake it using a 3d engine, no gameplay changes tho, just prettier graphics, i would pay more for a remake of BG2 then dragons age.

BG2 sure is awesome game. Also if you haven't tried Planescape Torment it is really great game too. Before RPG were so awesome now many of those are pretty bad compared to Fallout, BG and Planescape Torment. The Witcher is the best new RPG that I have played.

I didn't know these were abandonware. Actually I didn't know Panzer Dragoon was on the PC at all.

Well, it looks like Wipeout doesn't like recent video drivers (probably PD and VF2 as well).

I keep a copy of the 78.01 Nvidia driver on hand for just such an occasion; had to downgrade one day so I could play Forsaken.

So, it'll work, you just need to downgrade your drivers.
Not sure I want to do that today...

Woah.. I think I'll give Panzer Dragoon a shot. What's the worst that could happen? It's a shame that Typing of The Dead isn't abandon ware too--best SEGA PC release ever! :)

Okay, I caved and downgraded my drivers (hate doing that).

Installed Wipeout XL and it runs great.
You have to put Setup.exe to Windows 95 compatibility or it wont install, and you need to put the game executable to Win95 as well or it won't recongnize any keyboard input.

Oh yeah, that XP speed fix at the link is definitely needed. It also cracks the game which is essential because even with the image mounted the game still asks for a CD.

I'll try VF2 and Panzer Dragoon later.

Panzer Dragoon works perfectly and even recognizes the 360 controller.
