Is Sakaguchi hinting about a Blue Dragon Sequel?

(Best song this generation lol)
I spotted a cloud shaped like the head of a “dragon.” The sunlight spread from the back, making light come through what would be the eye. Recently, I often look up into the sky, hoping to find strange forms of cloud or light. When I think of my childhood, I liked to collect strange-shaped rocks. I think it was memories of when I was around six years old, I would find myself looking down at the ground while walking. I was very happy when I found rocks shaped like an airplane and a car. The countless rocks I collected were kept in a bag, placed by the front door of the house.

I think it’s a strange collector habit(^^?
Photos, sounds, travelling, waves of individual memories are all collections to me.
“Naturally collecting?”
I’m wondering if there’s any meaning behind the act...
Or maybe I shouldn’t even be thinking of what it means...
Oh well.

I want it so bad!

Bah, read it on GAF this morning. Someone there put it right: It's the definition of grasping at straws.

Anyway, a sequel to BD does not interest me. I'd rather have LO2, or even better, a new ip. Wasn't Cry On a title they were working on? Did MS drop Sakaguchi after just two titles?

Isn't Sakaguchi the person that put it on his own website?

How is it grasping at straws if it comes right from the source?

It's Blue, it's a dragon, Sakaguchi is the one that pointed it out, and it looks strikingly similar to Shu's Blue Dragon.

Cry On is a dead project. Sakaguchi is now secretly working on 3 other projects. 2 of them are confirmed to be major ones.

Well lets see.
Is Sakaguchi hinting about a Blue Dragon Sequel?
Yep. ;) I'm just saying we shouldn't speculate on anything until some concrete information is out, it's a waste of energy especially if it turns out to be wrong (which is imo highly likely).

Yea, the chances are pretty damn slim, but I wish they would make a sequel.

There is so much potential for a Blue Dragon Sequel that it annoys the hell out of me just thinking about it.

There are so many potentially creative things that could be done with the existence of shadows within the story. They can introduce other powerful shadow wielding enemies, besides just the big boss. They could even possibly make it a bit darker, while still maintaining the charm of the first.

They could also go one step further and give the shadows themselves personalities, along with their own voice actors. They wouldn't even have to account for too many lines of dialogue for the shadows; they could simply get away with making the shadows add their input during key points of the story.

There is definitely a blue-print for a sequel that is far superior to the first.

Blue dragon sucked for me because of the irratating voice overs, so i switched to native and had subs, and just as fucking annoying then.

I thought the Japanese voices were great.

MaruMaru was awesome. I'm pretty use to One Piece's more ridiculous characters voice overs, so Blue Dragon was a walk in the park for me.

Blue dragon sucked because the story was complete rubbish, the characters were terrible and the game itself was, even for a jrpg, repetitive as all hell. But then that's turned around to something positive as it's "old school". Yeah. Right :)

No Blue Dragon 2, no peace on Earth ! :)

Megido, I'm willing to bet you probably can't even tell me anything significant about the game's story besides the crap you could learn just from reading a random review or looking at gametrailers :)

The story, as far as i had it in me to play, revolved around a bunch of ultra generic kids who accidentally got them shadows attached to them and somehow the douchebag Nene needs them back too keep his evil dominion of the world going. I guess it was so deep and philosophical that my simpleton brain just couldn't fathom the awesome, i'm sure ;)

But really, hardly any JRPG presents something we haven't seen a billion times already. The few ones that do never get the appreciation they should (Suikoden 1, 2 and 5 for example). I mean really, so far as i could see there was little else to it. I bet there's some sort of super cliché twist somewhere along the path but after spending hours upon hours with that tedious battle system and boring as f***k dungeons i couldn't care less if Nene decided to stop his evil dominion and open a flower shop, leaving Shu and his buddies to rule the world. It would be freaking spectacular, but i would never see it because the rest of the game is still about as much fun as smashing your scrotum with a brick. Actually i think i'd almost rather take the brick.

TBH I didn't think Blue Dragon was anything special. The story was mediocre and the art was generic and just reminded me of dragonball too much. The gameplay also wasn't anything to write home about either, just your traditional JRPG. I much more prefer Lost Odyssey out of the two. I would definitely like to see LO2 before Blue Dragon 2.

I'd like a Lost Odyssey 2 myself, but it is least likely to happen before a Blue Dragon 2.

Sounds to me like you basically watched the opening scenes of the game. It's not highly philosophical or anything like that, but there's much more to the story than some of the rubbish simplifications I've seen, but there would be no point going into why I think that is.

Surprisingly I don't think the twist was anywhere quite as cliche as some would've expected it was. In fact, Lost Odyssey's twist was more cliche. Not the initial ones, but surely the later ones.

You say this all the time though Megido, you seem like a person that has watched so much anime you have become jaded, which is fine and all, but don't expect things to change within the JRPG genre.

The thing is that you are somewhat right that Blue Dragon was pretty simple and 2 dimensional as far as story telling goes but I enjoyed it a ton more than Lost Odyssey which I found flat boring and dull, at least Blue Dragon had a bit of colour to its storytelling and I was kind of sad to finish it which isn't something I have experienced since.

and oh yea ...Optimus calm down and stop being so defensive lol :)

One things for sure Blue Dragon 2 has my money already, just don't be for the Wii.

Blue Dragon was unremarkable, but when you take a look at how many next-gen JRPGs there are, it was one of the best (there are like 8). It didn't have anything to drive me to finish it. Optimus was what kept me trudging through the first disc. But it had a lot of charm. The landscapes and graphics were incredible, and I genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. But nothing else was capable of making me like it as a game. The combat wasn't bad, I enjoyed it actually. But its just those intangible things that just click with you when they're done right that this game was sorely lacking.

I'd be so pissed if they made BD 2 for the Wii... and I have a strange feeling some crap like that could happen. No, must remove it from my mind!

I'm dying to see what a second effort on the Blue Dragon engine would look like personally.

Couldnt agree more. The DS stuff makes sense but BD for Wii No no NO! MS have gone really quiet when it comes to Mistwalker.. If nothing happnes at TGS, I think we can safely say we should bid farewell to anything sakaguchi considering the way 2009 has been handled by MS thus far, I'd say that's probably what's going to happen. It seems MS is all about 2010 at this point. In which case, not announcing anything from Mist would probably mean the end of anything from their appearing :(

MS probably made some agreement with Square for FF13 to no longer work with, or publish, Mistwalker RPGs.

I think that sucks personally, because FF13 isn't even looking all that hot.

I doubt it's related at all. it's a stupid thing to do and I doubt Square Enix feels threatened by Mist. I just think it's very important for Ms to have its own defining IPs over there. BD and LO did the job perfectly I thought. they just need to explore them more now with sequels, marchandise, anime and all the stuff that appeals to the JPs

I suspect Microsoft feel a bit burned on JRPGs, they invested a lot of money in BD and LO as well as third party exclusives and saw minimal returns.
I had a funny situation with the first Blue Dragon - I bought the game together with Mass Effect. I had a girlfriend at the time who was a huge JRPG fan so I gave it to her so that she could play it while I was playing Mass Effect. She pissed me off once and I broke up with her, but didn't have the balls to ask for BD back, so I haven't played the game at all lol. I enjoyed Lost Odyssey, so maybe I would enjoy BD as well.
