Didn't they? You only get access to some info with COD Elite right? Stuff that Bungie and DICE have done for free.

Nope. Elite was never the stat tracking. Or leaderboards. Hell, you could even change loadouts via the website for free. The pay service was minor stuff like longer youtube video uploads, and the obvious one being the maps. But the basic functionality offered by bungie and dice, like heatmaps and tracked stats where free.

Well, I am excited about their game, but I do have to admit that I did expect to see quite a bit more than what was shown, so I guess I understand where he's coming from. I also greatly respect Adam Sessler, as he has always been pretty damn fair minded, and he's a guy that genuinely loves games, so I suppose I understand his disappointment. Been watching him on tv since the channel his show is on was called ZDTV. That's like 10+ years, I think, when he and Morgan Webb did the show together. Even if they weren't going to show the public too much of the game, considering that a lot of people traveled some pretty serious distances to be there, the least they could have done was probably show the press some meatier content, with no video recording allowed, of course, and then the press could then talk about what they saw, and how gameplay looked.

Then again, this isn't exactly a huge departure from their previous vidocs, but then people kinda had a good idea of what to expect where it concerned Halo. Maybe they want to show off their game for the first time on a next gen system, and perhaps they didn't want to reveal too much until they do that? Still, I understand the gaming press should have gotten more.

Seems bungie rearranged their plans. Instead of 360 timed exclusive and Xbox next gen timed exclusive, it now appears as if it will be simultaneous release on 360 and PS3 + nextbox and ps4? Seems like a lot of platforms to juggle at once. Maybe they'll decide that it makes more sense to focus on the next gen xbox version first, and then drop the ps4 version the following year?

Who knows, but this seems like a pretty massive undertaking by Bungie. Hopefully all these consoles they're juggling doesn't impact their ability to make the game as good as they possibly can on each platform. Activision... grr. I had also committed to never buy from them ever again after what they did to Infinity Ward, but here I am already committed to breaking that rule. Oh well :)

The confirmation of no 2013 release kinda makes you wonder what the deal is with the pre-order stuff put out there that said it would release this year, and why they chose to reveal it as early as they did with as little as they were prepared to show. I hope Activision isn't messing up bungie's plans. They don't exactly own bungie, so Bungie should more or less have a decent bit of freedom with how they proceed, but something about how this is proceeding just screams significant Activision interference. Bungie sounds like they are building this thing for 4 consoles at once simultaneously.

same. i can't imagine i'll be all that invested in current gen when the PS4 launches. and if destiny isn't out 2013, chances are this game is going to launch AFTER the next gen systems hit retail. i get why they're doing it, it's hard to ignore a shared 140+ million PS3/360 owners. but i think it's going to spread them too thin. they should have just launched with next gen, and took it from there. not that i think the game sounds all that great anyway. but it seems pointless releasing current gen so late into it's cycle. i just hope the next gen version won't suffer beasue they have to build a scalable engine that runs on current gen. the last thing this game needs to be is an upscaled PS3 game running on PS4.

He is kinda right i mean they will know the in's and out's of the MS toolsets, and i'm sure their new tools will have a similar feel, so you would expect a good running game.

Microsoft's development tools are the best thing they've got going for them. Without direct experience on the 360, bungie would still be perfectly capable of porting Destiny to the 720. It's a non-issue.

I would expect the game to run well on next gen platforms, when you consider it was developed with the limitations of this generation in mind. I don't see how it couldn't.

I'm sure they would also, but it dose not take away the fact, that having 10yrs in-depth experience with the 360 MS dev tools and direct access to the guys that created them would help them with the MS dev tools for the 720.

Sure. But it's a non-issue. The difference in power between these two generations is not insignificant. The idea that Destiny, a PS360 designed title, would not run extremely well on either platform is insanity.

It's not a difficult point to understand. Their experience with Microsoft's tools are a non-issue in this matter. Now, if you want to talk about the 360 and the PS3, that's another issue all together.

i just hope this is not the start of a downward spiral for them.

That's not a terrible point I guess. It's not really relative to Bungie though, is it? I mean there's no real indication of such a downward spiral yet, so far as I can tell.

Do they have to prove they're more than just Halo? I guess. I have faith beyond that. They were making good games before Halo.

But things change. Probably not as much as they have at Blizz in the last decade though. Thankfully.

PS. Diablo 3 isn't a terrible game. It's just terribly disappointing considering the expectations placed on it.
