New Bungie Video -- Destiny Coming Soon

The graphics looks cartoony and plastic looking.

The artwork looks darker, mature and more gritty looking.
Kind of reminds me of the same situation with Star Wars The Old Republic. The CGI indicates one thing interms of art, the in-game models is vastly different (worse).

The idea is nice, but i just saw another Halo with MMO tagged over it.

But I will wait and see more since Warlock seems to be something special with the whole guns and magic combo, but I am not holding my breath for it.

Yeah seeing someone reload a sniper rifle was sort of depressing in the latest video. I kinda feel like I agree with Sath now.
I'm pretty done with Halo. The previous videos had me more excited for something beyond an FPS.

CE will always be remembered fondly, because of the way it changed the industry, and Halo 4 will not change the industry in such a drastic way, but that doesn't make CE the superior game. Halo 4, to me, will always be the best Halo campaign I've ever played.
I would really hope a game that gets released on Xbox 360, as compared to the original Xbox, would have more tech to make the game better than it's original in some ways.
Not to mention having all those previous titles to learn from, and all those pre existing resources to pick up and continue utilizing/building upon.
Unless you really fuck up. Which MS would never allow.
CE was defining and the reason why there was a 360, and will be a 720.
4's just another Halo.

But there's nothing wrong with just being another Halo. It's one of the greatest game franchises ever. How did you expect it would suddenly make Halo, which we are all so thoroughly familiar with already, somehow feel new and revolutionary? Halo 4 is just another Halo that happens to have the best singleplayer campaign the franchise has ever seen.

I know deep down Grift agrees with me :P

And, separately, if 343 did have some radical new ideas that they wanted to put in the franchise, I think they felt a tremendous amount of pressure and responsibility to hold off on those things, at least till their next game, because they first needed to show the masses with their first effort that Halo was in capable hands. Was Halo 4 essentially steady as she goes, staying the course? Sure, but I have never seen it done so well.

Yea, Destiny looks amazing. I'm stunned some people are trying to downplay it's visuals.

Check that gif with the reload on that sniper looking weapon. Check the interaction with that light flare. It's subtle, but looks so good.

The art design is giving me a little bit of a Mass Effect vibe, but if it were a first person shooter. A little star wars in there, too.

yeah, atmosphere look nice. but the game has pretty lacklustre models, texture detail and animations. it looks like halo REACH in a lot of ways. they've just buffed up the scale, atmospherics and lighting. it's a very "action figure" plasticy looking game imo. but then it could be absolutely huge in scale, and support hundreds of characters on screen at once, in which case i'd give it some slack. sadly...all they've shown is 3 guys running around...it's hard to be impressed with the games look.

Well, don't forget one key thing. This is also a current gen title, so no matter how good Bungie manages to make it look on next gen hardware, it's still being largely held back somewhat by current gen hardware. Even so, it still looks pretty damn good.

I'd need to see more of the models, but I don't have too big of an issue with them. There was one alien that kinda jumped out at me, but that's about it.

I have a hard time getting excited for visuals anymore when you're just looking down the barrel of a gun you've seen a few hundred times previously.
Also the visuals could have been better had they skipped 360 and PS3

Animations and mechanics are likely going to be shit at first on such new hardware in Quarter 1?

Well, they require more time to work on animations, and Destiny development started quite some time ago. With that said, I can live with the animation as it is so long as the game itself is pretty amazing.

jarring animation though to me destroys the ability to lose myself in the game (see oblivion and skyrim) its one of the reasons i love uncharted so damn much.

Those are player animations. Not to suggest they're awesome, but they're not very good in like.. Halo either. Or bunches of other first person shooters. You don't notice if you don't play multiplayer.

And if you do, you're pretty adapted to pretty bad animation :D

I wouldn't mind seeing an improvement but it's certainly not a deal breaker.
