Lost Odyssey is, without question, as strong as Atlus' latest. Haven't gotten the chance to play Persona 4 yet though.
No
Persona 3 was game with bad music, bad story, bad locations and bad characters. Atlus ruined all Persona 2 design. LO is MUCH better

I do believe Lost Odyssey was the better game, but I said "as strong" to possibly show some respect for the fact that there are others who enjoyed Persona 3 including myself.

My advice - go buy Persona 2 or Digital Devil Saga or Nocturne - they are true Shin Megami masterpiece

i dissagree. i have digital devil saga and hate it. persona 3 however rocked my socks off, its a little emo, but not as emo as the main character in LO so its all good.

I see no reason why it shouldn't, with PS2 costs being minimal they're guaranteed to profit from a US release.

The first came out in the US (sits on my shelf still wrapped) and Persona 4 is coming out this december. All signs point to yes.

Europe's not quite as likely unless Koei grabs the rights. If you're an RPG fan you've prolly got a modchip or an american PS2 already though, considering the way we've traditionally gotten screwed.

I thought the first was on the Saturn and I don't remember there being a US version :S, I know there was a PSP Japan version also, was there a PS2 version ?

Although if you have it I guess your right :P

The reason I say it won't come to the US is because people are moving away from the PS2 now, like I have said before SMT games aren't aimmed at casual gamers.

I guess time will tell, PS2 is still pretty stong in Japan, but PS2 software sales in the west are getting poorer by the month.

The PS2 is viable enough for Sega to bring Yakuza 2 out two years after its japanese release. It also saw a new hardware revision *this year*. Every major multiplatform title (including Rock Band, reluctantly, after first NOT being planned for the system) ends up on the PS2 aswell.

Tomb Raider Underworld, Mercenaries 2, Sonic Unleashed, Rock Band 2, I could go totally on and on.

So I wouldn't worry too much, I think it's an ideal situation for weird japanese games to go west with minimal risk. Also, they recently removed a bunch of would-be obstacles like content and language restrictions, meaning games can theoretically come out with text translations and subtitles on the PS2 in the US, aswell as have all the expected smuttyness and mature themes of your average SMT game.
