Nintendo E3 2008 Press Conference of Total Disappointment

Optimus, I'm sure Simon was talking about Microsoft's conference, not the state of Xbox 360 as a platform. Microsoft conference wasn't good by any means, it had a lot of embarassing moments when they were showcasing casual games and it did not have many exciting announcements.

As a platform 360 is doing as great as ever, sure, but I think it won't be hard for Sony to have the best conference of them all. Still, I don't expect too many announcements from them, I think they'll focus on their 08 stuff as well.
One of the most shocking announcements the game industry has seen in decades, the announcement of Final Fantasy 13 for the Xbox 360, was made at Microsoft's Press Conference, so being able to say what I said about the implications of what announcement makes their Press Conference all the more historic.

I would like to be able to not talk about the state of the Xbox 360 platform when talking about Microsoft's Press Conference, but when such an announcement is made, it's impossible not to bring that up. Such an announcement coming during Microsoft's Press Conference has a very positive influence on the perception of their conference. What would've probably ended up being an alright to probably slightly cool press event, turned legendary in an instant.

In your opinion, the MS conference wasn't very good and didn't have many exciting moments, but the announcement that came at the end wasn't just any announcement, it was THE announcement and will likely be biggest one made all of E3 or even for the next 6 or 7 E3s. Not many other game announcements will be quite as historic as that one. If Sony announces God of War 3 fans will rejoice and everyone will be happy, but it wont have the same kind of impact that the FF13 announcement did.

An announcement of a series as popular as Final Fantasy 13 coming to the 360, a console that is literally dead in Japan, is not your regular game announcement. Mark my words, it is the biggest announcement of E3 2008 and likely will remain the biggest announcement made at E3 for the next 3 or 5 E3 events due to the far reaching significance of such an announcement. It will be possible to always go back to this very announcement at MS's E3 2008 Press Conference as one that literally caused a major change in the industry.

I am a big fan of the ff series, although I totally can't stand 12 and pray to god that ff13 is nothing like it, but one doesn't have to be a ff fan to see how big that announcement was.

Quick question to those who watched Nintendo conference: how's future of DS shaping up? Any good games on the horizon? I'm big fan od rpg and turn based strategies and wondering what's better to buy in coming months: PSP or DS. So, how's the future shaping up?

Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
