Yeah. The problem is, they can't' put in multiplayer like they did in Out run.
Anyway, the game is the last "over the top" arcade i remember, and i don't' think Sega can afford to code a home version for the likes of XBLA. They did it with Out Run 2 because it was already been converted for the first commercial version. I hope i'm wrong thou. I REALLY want that game in my house. If i were rich i'd have the cabinet.

I think they realized at some point that "Pushing interactive entertainment beyond its limits" is quite difficult, even when you have billions to spend.

I don't know why the PS3 Slim thread got closed down - seems to me, that if the rumor proves true, then it is more than worthy of a proper thread all to itself; and not just grouped together with some other crap.

Oh well, who can really fathom the 'logic' Gamersyde mods impose on thread structuring.

Moving on.

In the 'proof' that PS3 Slim is real rumor mill, are some grainy, camera phone photos (of the shell and box) posted on the interwebs on a Chinese website, supposedly by someone who works at one of the plants that are currently making the PS3 Slim model.

As always, these could be fakes . . . or they could be the real deal. I guess we will know for sure, soon enough. Enjoy the photos.

With Sony hemorrhaging money over the PS3, and their only focus is setting the PS3 up where at some point this gen, it can finally break even and produce a profit (the reason we still have not gotten a price drop yet), maybe cutting corners on the build material is part of their strategy to reduce costs.

As for the logo change, they may be preparing for a complete re-branding effort in a move to shed the largely negative stigma associated with the entire debacle that has been the branding of the Playstation 3 since E3 2006. Seeing as no one ever liked that logo in the first place, and even PS3 owners make fun of the "Spider-Man font" in use, why not.

You could see it as a three-pronged shift: 1 - newer, smaller hardware, 2 - lower price (guessing around $300), 3 - new brand image to distance from any negative stigmas associated with the older brand image.

Sony would not be the first company to ever try something like this with an existing product. And while true, traditionally Sony has never pulled a move like this with any of their previous hardware iterations, at the same time, Sony has never had their ass handed to them by the competition either. So why change a wildly successful brand image when it is keeping you on top of the world? But that was PS1 and PS2. PS3 is a wholly different animal, and for Sony to ever have any serious chance of pulling out of 3rd place this gen, it is going to require them to start thinking outside of their own self imposed box to get the job done.

Again, I am not saying the photos are real, of the item in the photos are the real deal. As far as I know, these could just be photos of a cheap, 'swap meet Louie' knock off. Just saying, I personally am not going to dismiss them outright. Sony is in a bad way right now; still billions in the hole over PS3, and trailing respectably behind every competitor in the market. All of that is a very long cry from being profitable by several billion $$$$ a year, and a commanding market lead of over 150 million units sold. Considering they entered into this generation back at the PS3's quasi-unveiling at E3 2005, with the attitude that if they built it, everyone would come, they have got to be filling at least just a little bit desperate by now. They did build it, but everyone bought a Wii instead. And desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures. So who knows, maybe these are the real deal. And if they are of lower quality than existing PS3 units . . . well, let me just put it this way. I got a 60GB launch PS3. By comparison, every revision to date of the PS3, has been of increasing lesser quality. So to be frankly honest with you, I do not see that trend changing anytime soon from Sony. Those of us who spent $600 on the system, are the only ones with a true PS3. And every price reduction to date, was ushered in on the back of increasingly diminished hardware revisions. So, for the time being at least, I think that I will keep an open mind on these pics.

i looks pretty genuine to me. you only have to look at how cheap the PStwo looked to see it isnt all that different.

the main thing is the complete change in branding...thats a strange thing to do... even for sony. it isnt even the same logo as the PS2...it's a completely different typeface.

but then again, it could be a cheap knock off you find on the market.

Tbh, given the choice (even if that is real) i'd rather go full fat, that "slim" or knockoff just looks cheap as hell. If it had the same gloss finish as the original they might get away with it, but it changes the machine into a cheap looking toy rather than a powerhouse console.

YES, the logo is similar to the PS2 one but I am referring to the PS3s logo. when you're trying to build an image, changing fonts, shapes is marketing suicide. I very much doubt this slim PS3. I still call it total bogus!
