Me either. I want more details on ODST and MW2.. perhaps my most anticipated titles for this year.

You'll definitely see/hear about Halo: ODST on Monday.

Not sure if that'll be the only Halo news either. MS keeping some cards closer to their chest than others it would seem.

All indications are pointing to this generation being significantly longer than the last (and last gen was cut short anyway). I don't think MS will go without their numero uno IP that long, even if they do something daft in 2011 like release another console.

That's not to say Halo 4 won't be a launch title mind, but they'll be at least one more Halo game between now and then. They didn't hire people to an internal team to sit there and write for 5 years.

Hey, I love Halo 3. I think it's a great game. Did the campaign fall short of greatness? Just slightly, really. It was still a fantastic ride, even if I was slightly dissatisfied with the narrative. I hope they save Halo 4 for the next Xbox. I wouldn't want to see it on the Xbox 360 hardware.

Then again, if it truly is Halo without Bungie, they can probably keep it anyway. Unless of course the gameplay is stellar. But ultimately I don't really trust the franchise in the hands of any other developer.People put way too large of an emphasis on graphics. All of the shit I hear about Modern Warfare 2 on forums, for example, is nonsense. Great art direction (which Halo has in spades) trumps technology every single time. ODST could be a fantastic title, and we have no idea how "limited" it will be.

Plus, I suspect the cost of entry will reflect those limitations.. and that Bungie will push the Halo platform further than they did with Halo 3. Even the DLC content for Halo 3 looks considerably better than the campaign, as it did with Halo 2 as well.

Outdated.... because it's based on technology that's a couple of years old. God that's ridiculous.

The other developer thing always comes down to whether they choose to do something different or try to clone what was done before though.

I mean PGR is in the exact same situation. I've been playing five Bizarre developed racing games that all have been kinda different from one another and I'm pretty cool with - at this point - accepting another developer's take on it as long as they don't just repackage PGR4 and up the graphics. If they do the Fallout 3 type thing where they alienate a ton of fans who just can't seem to let go, then the result may very well be something cool in a new way that still adheres to the established tone and style of the previous ones.

I mean look at Metroid Prime for instance. Now I don't want to get into the argument of whether that's awesome or not because a lot of you guys don't think so and I know that. My point is though that its goodness has everything to do with in what ways they dared depart from - and even challenge - what had gone before, while still combining it with an atmosphere and tone that felt absolutely spot on.

Imagine if someone else does come along and makes a Halo game that is very, very different from the initial trilogy. If that is different enough that people hate it for not being Halo, then that might actually be totally awesome. It would be a new perspective on characters and the universe we all know and love, and it wouldn't just echo past greatness.

You always get the divide where some people won't accept the new direction taken, but I'll take that over a shallow clone any day. A machine decidedly without a ghost.
