Companies that make the games the majority of us enjoy, don't make games using the Wii's groundbreaking tech. I assume the same thing will happen with this tech. It's only natural
No one should expect games for "hardcore gamers" to be using Natal

It will be tough at first for devs to make actual games for it but because the demographic on the 360 and ps3 is more hardcore they will eventually produce something. Unlike the wii where there is a mass amount of causal people they dont care as much.

But the casual market is exactly the demographic they want to target with this stuff.

As I said, there is more of a hardcore demographic on the ps3 and 360. Sure they will produce causal shit on it but since there is such a huge hardcore audience they will have to produce a game to cater to us, if they want to make more profits.

Edit: Anyway, if all devs make causal games then the hardcore market will be left without a product and eventually someone will want to tap into it.

Microsoft Games Studio has confirmed that Bungie & Epic game studios are currently working with Project Natal. Project Natal is the code name for Microsoft's Xbox 360 motion sensing & speech recognition technology that was reveal at E3.

Lionhead Studios Peter Molyneux also presented a small tech demo of what his studio has been able to accomplish in the last four months with Project Natal. With Steven Spielberg also giving a small speech about Project Natal at E3, it is possible to assume that his production company is also tinkering with this motion sensing technology.

I've been hearing in a lot of places say that sony's console can detect where in space the wand is. There's this conception that natal can't i dont see why.

Natal can't detect the wand because there is no wand

Seriously though.. If you've read the following article than you realize this isn't some kind of simple eye toy like camera:

Well obviously there is no wand but the main problem the natal has is detecting what your wand will be not it's location in space (unless something stands in front of the camera. It's the same for the ps3.). There is some serious math detecting for what counts as the wand and what limits are acceptable; however, it's still not perfect.

cool technology but is it practical guys ??? part of the pleasure of gaming is seating on a couch, relaxed playing video games, not waving you arms and legs like a mad man, infact this project natal is more demanding than the wii

Well not that i'm opposed to moving around while playing, it's just that the quality of the titles for it will probably be pretty low. I.e in the Casual spectrum of gaming.

Worry no more about it being for casual games only. Project Director says they are using it for everything, and even in conjunction with a controller...
Eurogamer: So this technology isn't just for use with Arcade titles or specially designed games like Milo & Kate? It could be used to play regular games?

Alex Kipman: Absolutely. We see there being three types of game. We love the [existing] controller, it's not going anywhere and there will continue to be games that are specifically made to only work with a controller. We'll have games that are specifically designed to work only with Natal - not just arcadey games, but real, hardcore, triple-A titles.

Then you'll have some games that are essentially a hybrid - games that work both with the controller and with Natal. Why is that interesting? Think about a first-person shooter where I'm using the controller but I'm doing facial tracking by just moving around and looking round corners.

Or you could have a hardcore gamer like me playing a game with a controller, while a non-hardcore person sitting next to me enjoys the experience by playing with Natal. I could be having my Halo experience with the controller and the friend next to me, who's not a hardcore gamer, could be throwing grenades or driving the Warthog or doing any number of things with Natal.

We can track up to four players in the same way we track controllers. Each individual player will be able to choose - do I want to bind with a controller, or do I want to bind with my body, or do I want to bind with both?

Okay that sounds amazing.. Can you imagine playing Modern Warfare 2 and you can basically move your head around a corner to actually have the game do that?

Amazing possibilities indeed....
