I pretty much second that. I don't think i've played any wii game that couldn't have the wiimote replaced with a controller or a mouse and be just as user friendly.

It's lucky you're not in charge of selling the Natal then.

Man, I'd sell the shit out of Natal. If I actually had a vested, monetary interest in its success, I'd make sure every fatty and soccer mom had one infront of them for the inevitable release of Natal Sports and Natal Fit. All the while I'd be laughing at the sheeple from my house made of gold.

It's funny how quick people are to dismiss the masses when they don't agree.. but use their numbers as power when they're arguing as part of a group.

Generally speaking: the larger the audience, the dumber and less informed.

Different Strokes, Different Folks.

Everyone has different interests and abilities. Not everyone can be an NBA center--or wants to be.

I see no problem with the Wii's success if consumers genuninely enjoy it. May not be for me, but then again my friend with Parkansins loves it and it helps him live a better life.

As Per Natal--I hope it has some good games because I think it will be a FUN family app!

In a new internally-produced interview, Microsoft division president Robbie Bach described his company's 2010 ambitions for the Xbox 360, hyping Halo Reach and Project Natal, the latter which he thinks will turn the "gaming" business into the "interactive entertainment" business.

"In terms of Natal, there's a lot of creativity we're going to unleash," Bach said as part of anew, leaked Microsoft-produced video outlining the company's 2010 plans. "We're going to start it in the context of Xbox, but even in the context of Xbox it's not just going to be about games. It will be a much broader context for people. People will think about that as entertainment, not just about games. "

As president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division, Bach oversees Microsoft's Xbox, Windows Mobile and Zune teams, among other groups. From that high level view, he grouped the Xbox's Project Natal, the hands-free gaming camera/sensor/microphone full-body control system that his company debuted at the last E3 gaming trade show, with other "natural user interface" projects and concepts underway at Microsoft.

"For us, interacting with technology in the most natural way possible that can be voice, it can be touch, it can be multi-touch, motion, there's all kinds of different ways for people to do that... the closer we can get our technology interface working that way, the better off we are."

Bach declared that 2010 has the potential to be one of the Xbox 360's "biggest years yet." He mentioned the forthcoming Halo: Reach and Natal as two reasons why. Of Natal, he added: "That has the potential to be magic. There's still a lot of work for us to do, but I think there's tremendous potential there."

Natal's magic will be transformative, he added: "I think [Project Natal] is going to revolutionize how people think about the gaming business and actually turn it into an interactive entertainment business. I think we're finally going to get there where people can break the mold of [makes airquotes] gaming and get to real entertainment."

We'll have more CES, Microsoft and Natal coverage as it breaks.

Natal has been scaled back for cost reasons apparently. Putting all the processing on the device was said to be expensive to produce so they are moving some of the processing back to the 360. It's not clear whether it means one core or one thread. "10-15%" would indicate a hardware thread to me.

I don't think it makes a massive deal at the end of the day, though I'm sure Molyneux might miss the extra CPU cycles for Milo & Kate. What it does mean, is that Microsoft definitely want this to be as cheap as possible, which is the right thing to do from their perspective. It also means that it's unlikely Natal will just be bolted on to existing games willy nilly.

The Bing Maps beta is awesome if you have Silverlight. It's been out for a while. Try zooming in with it and then rotating the map. It's bonkers. The twitter overlay is neat too.

Bahh, Natal died for me just now (in the sense of: I'm not buying it). The more I hear of it the more I get the feeling that Natal is just a cheap way for MS to do a mass beta for their new product. It seems very likely that they'll drop support very fast if the results of their beta aren't as good as expected.

Overpromising, overcharging and underdelivering. It's this pattern, every single time. Everyone at MS must have it in their genes by now.
