LET ME STEALTH HYPE MY GAMES OF INTEREST IN PEACE!

TERA definitely looks like my type of game for this type of stuff, but I dont want to pay to play so I will give it a miss.

Only one I am looking forward to is Guild Wars 2 :)

I'm trying hard to tough it out before I give it up myself.
Granted, as gamers you come to expect a certain type of responsiveness and speed in an RPG which FF doesn't have. It is almost, at least I get the feeling, that they wanted to give you the console controls but not a console style of game play - which seems backwards considering everyone secretly hopes that it will play like FF7, etc only play with the speed and competence of a more refined mmorpg.

I'm giving it it's fair run to grow on me. However, I feel like they're trying to merge two separate types of games together that is only really fitting for a small group of selected people, or just die-hard fans with high tolerance.
The idea that it's like a meta or inside joke where you have to know everything there is to know about the world and game style before even stepping in it, is in my opinion piss-poor game design.

As FF14 I have to agree with what a lot of you say, but seeing as I am used to 11 I kind of have a built in buffer because I know how backwards SE were with that game.

Aion, meh that game is shit after level 20, plus the servers are growing smaller by the day.I don't think anyone hoped for this, I think most wanted it to have a standard MMO user interface and control system (me included), Its kind of odd that there are things in FF11 that they did better than FF14 and they haven't brought any of the other idea's that developers have come up with in the last 8 or so years to the game either.

That being said I will be there day one as I'm finding the game enjoyable, plus I kind of like games that have a hard learning curve.

I wouldn't say the game is hard at all actually. I would say that it's very cumbersome, slow, and not well thought out from a design stand point on many, many levels. It's sort of like trying to drive a couple of 2 x 4's on some square wheels with a Ferrari engine, then saying all driving is hard. I don't think it's the driving that's hard, it's getting into the seat, and when you do it - is it even worth the time and effort to drive?
Think it just comes down to how die-hard people are for FF than any sort of learning curve.

The reason I think most want a FF7 only in mmorpg format, is because most fans of the series, bringing that kind of game structure to a mmorpg world would be fascinating, if not rejuvenating all the respect that was lost for Square-soft before they went insane. I don't consider 11 even a part of FF because it was so radically different than any of its predecessors - and the simple fact that 11 gives you an edge on 14 shows that they have no interest in trying something better.

Hell, I think even if they made the game, had a fully engaging story (or not), and made it just another run of the mill MMORPG that players have come to expect for the last 6 years; Point and click skills, skill trees, classes, races, pvp, and as close to actually swinging the weapon with a mouse click, only with a button, as possible, etc.
It would still end of being a more enjoyable experience than this. There's no justification for making people pull teeth and get used to it. I just can't understand their logic behind it.

Well FF11 had one of the best story lines in a FF game and MMO IMO, problem is that you had to stick with the game to get to it and that was a challenge for most people.(WoW has great lore also but its told so poorly in game that most dont' even take notice of it)

FF14 will be the same you can see the story telling is great just from the first main quests, I duno why you keep bringing FF7 up, all Final Fantasy game are sperate from one another, 12 and 13 are nothing like 7 either, so why expect 11 or 14 to be ?

The 1st game was amazing too bad this looks to be a mess.

Game looks nice graphically, and they have Shimomura. I'll play it, but I'm not expecting anything great. Nomura and Nojima writing means this story will be all over the fucking place.

I am far more interested in FF13-2 and the new medieval look they are going for, that does feel different, but then again that is FF13 sequel and that means it can go either way

I am a decent chunk through the story now i guess

aside from some bad choice of music (there is good stuff in there, but mainly shyt) aside from Serah coming across as robotic as fuck where noel seems fluid in his animations and aside from repetition in level choice (specially if you played 13) yeah aside from that, i absolutely fucking adore this game, defiantly better than the last game, Christ its that much better i don't even know where to begin on that..
