Yeah, I really want Alimo and Optimus to try the FF14 beta when it comes out, just to prove a point.

I'm willing to bet FF11 has probably made SE more profit than any other FF game to date.
It's not a question of hate. on the contrary, I would love to give it a try but I am just worried I might get sucked in ;) This version in particular is really tempting

Hmmm I would say wait for 14, 11 is a great game but it's about as hardcore as MMO's come.

I gues you're right since 14 is more tailored towards MMO casuals.

Personally, I dont think they ruined it. I think it looks pretty cool to be honest. Sure, having the two transform into a motorcycle, is clearly meant at the Western market but I still think it's a nice addition. it's not like you'll be playing Shiva all the time anyway. it's acceptable given that u summon them every now and then

Work on the 360 version of FF13 has apprently started 2 months before E3

Same. Can't believe my hype is so low for an FF game. Maybe it'll end up surprising me and be the best jrpg this gen, but I have my doubts. My fav of this gen is still tales of vesperia. I love the character development in that game.

Being the best JRPG this gen isn't that much an accomplishment. This is probably the worst time to be JRPG fan.

There should be a quite a lot of info regarding FF14 supposedly at GamesCon this year for anyone interested in it.

Dates are from 20-23 August.

Heres hoping they will announce the beta :D

Some quotes taken from the Famitsu DVD edition ths month.
Game world

* The game takes place in the world of Haiderin, the main region in that world is Eorza. In comparison Final Fantasy XI's world, Vana'diel, is a little bigger than Eorza.
* When compared to Vana'diel, they are aiming for a more "high-fantasy" style with Haiderin, with advanced technology.
* Final Fantasy 14 re-imagines the races that were in Final Fantasy XI, but will try to have that "familiar look" that players are used to.

Leveling / job system

* The game focuses on job growth, there will be no experience points or levels in FFXIV.
* There will be a heavy emphasis on weaponry, which will determining how you grow and fight in the game.
* FFXIV will be expanding upon the basic job system from FFXI.

Miscellaneous

* The idea in Final Fantasy 14 is to provide freedom of growth: the players will always have something to do, with friends or solo.
* The games regular battles will be against single enemies, larger scale battles will be fought in parties.
