Since 6648 DaysIf as we expect, the durango uses a dedicated chip then when you run a 360 game on it the durango hardware is essentially asleep or performing hardware upscaling. The game is still running on 360 hardware and limited to how the 360 itself would run it.
Since 7576 DaysThere's no reason to expect enhancements from BC. Certainly not vasy enhancements. If we get any it's a huge bonus.
When you consider the 360's awesome attach rate, BC is potentially a big deal. It gets even better for them if they can offer cross platform XBLA titles. Which is kind of a big deal if the rumored tiny 360 is also a real product. It's pretty smart really. It allows them to bring the 360 into a new market while introducing its successor at the same time.

Since 7576 DaysIt's DICE's game to lose. I don't believe for a second that IW has any sort of vision for COD. More mass market, designed by committees and focus groups bullshit incoming. Woot.
BUT.. It'll certainly shift some key atttention towards Durango.

Since 7576 DaysPeople who don't play Call of Duty care more about a new engine. They're best off enhancing the graphics end of things and sticking with what works. "New engine" is just code these days for "mild enhancements." Not very many games are ever really starting from scratch.
How much does it bother you that CS:GO is using an engine from more than 8 years ago :D

Since 7448 DaysVery worth while look into how Milo&Kate was created and canceled. Probably should be called "The Anatomy Of Why Every Concept Can't Be Made Into A Video Game"
To me it looks like they ultimately had the choice to make Fable:TJ or Milo&Kate, just NOT both. And I guess they chose Fable:TJ because they were incapable of turning Milo&Kate into a real game.
Since 7468 DaysI think the easiest shot they have at a seriously good Kinect integrated game is with a Blue Dragon sequel that uses a combination of the traditional controller with Kinect for certain special, on the field actions or in battle special moves. Nothing drastic. It can work and work extremely well in a turn based jrpg. Kinect latency related issues? Kiss them goodbye with a turnbased jrpg. It wouldn't do very much if at all to change or harm Blue Dragon as I know it, because it would just be one more way to expand the gameplay mechanics of the game. There was that charging your attack mechanic to lower spell related MP usage, or to increase a spell or attacks area of effect or strength. You can have special moves that are only possible with Kinect, or that become more effective when Kinect is used effectively. You can have a nice reward in battle for doing it properly, but have different penalties to the player depending on the level of the spell or attack being used. It isn't very difficult for Kinect to be successfully integrated into a hardcore game. In the early going, it might feel gimmicky, but it will feel much less so once people get use to the fact that it's a crucial part of how the game is played, and so long as its done with care and doesn't mean the traditional controller is taking a backseat in the overall experience.
The whole idea of blue dragon is that what the character on screen does, it gets mimicked by their magical shadow. Well, extend this to the player themselves for certain moves and spells. Use the traditional controller to somehow call up a specific spell, have some mini-game of sorts where you use Kinect to successfully input hand based gesture commands, and then once you succeed or fail with the sequence of commands, the ingame character reflects that success or failure. No need for the player's moments to impact real-time battle actions. Have the in-game character do something when the player gets done with their Kinect related gestures. To introduce some sort of skill, give different spells more complex sequences with less time to execute the commands.

Since 7448 DaysThey have to find a way to marry Kinect to existing gameplay mechanics. It can work, but they have to be willing to THINK of clever ways to do it. If they try to apply it in ham-fisted ways it's going to just annoy the hell out of gamers and turn even more of us against it. And that's sad, because you would think that hand gesturing could work a number of ways. In a shooter, a gamer creeps up behind the enemy, makes a slash motion with his hand an assassinates someone. In an RPG, instead of pausing the game to access a power or talent, a motion brings up the ability quicker and more fluid. Even some of Moleneux's nutty interactive ideas of communicating with in-game characters would work, they just have to be paired with the proper functions.
Kinect CAN work if they approaches are thoughtful and feel natural to us.

Since 7468 DaysI also have a strange feeling that we're going to see a next gen GTA V announcement of some kind, too. I always thought that last minute delay of the game was suspicious. And this might sound silly to some, but I hope the next xbox has an awesome Outlook.com app built into the console. Seriously, that site is like one of the most amazingly well designed and executed web services I've ever seen out of Microsoft. I'm literally addicted to the damn thing, and I wouldn't mind having access to it in as many places as possible. I don't see a browser that allows me access to the site as being good enough. I want a dedicated app.

Since 7468 DaysI don't know if you're all that into turn based jrpgs, but I'm positive you still understand the basics of how they work to know that Kinect can work with such games. The key to Kinect, to me, has always been Japanese developers, preferably jrpg developers. They just tend to be more likely to have the kinds of ideas and game design preferences that would make this kind of thing work.
I fully expect Ryse to be the next gen Xbox's Lair. Yep, that bad. I wasn't much of a fan of Crytek's games to begin with, and now I'm suppose to have confidence in a game that involves Kinect and that will also apparently involve Spartacus style combat? It has yikes written all over it. Game better involve more controller and way, way less Kinect, or else I just don't know how that's going to turn out.
