I don't see why people hold showing the console so highly we all know its guna be a box most likely black from either company.

One thing MS did poorly was explain the "Architecture" didn't give us a CPU speed or the amount of cores, didn't indicate what type of GPU how many transistors or flops, I felt Sony did a much better job in explaining the hardware than MS did.

Which leads me to believe that Xbox One may not be as powerful as PS4 and MS were just trying to hide this fact, probably goes without saying considering they are more interested in home entertainment these days than gaming.

The Xbox One operating system looks really solid but how much ram will that use I wonder lol.
Yea, the architecture part was a huge tease as it didn't really say much. Hopefully a better job is done with that at E3, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was. Microsoft's focus was more on the basics of the ecosystem and the platform vision for this event.

The OS is using 2GB right now. An extra 1GB is reserved for possible future use, but it isn't being used currently and might even be released to developers.

I want to say the ps4 OS used 1GB, am i remembering that correctly? So 6-7 gbs for games for both consoles

One thing we can conclude is the ps4 memory is far and away better (for games).. unless msft says surprise we use gddr5 as well at E3 lol

PS4 is presumed to use a gig, leaving 7 for games.

Xbox one has 3 set aside, leaving 5 for games with possible expansion to 6

Oh, I'm definitely excited. Excited as hell, but I didn't exactly get a trailer or anything, so I have nothing to focus my excitement on lol. Still, trust me, my heart skipped a beat when it was announced :)

I actually dropped a bottle of water when it was announced. Damn good thing it wasn't open, or else it would've spilled right on top of my 1TB external hard drive haha.

I thought the Xbox had 12GB in total? 8GB dedicated to games with 3GB for the OS and 1 mysterious GB, no??

Nope. Was rumoured. It has 8, with 3 locked for the THREE OS's they have...

Xbox one friends list up to 1,000 people. Confirmed offline pass for play.
“so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.” However, many of the Xbox One’s new features will require an internet connection, including cloud abilities and such, so while you can technically play games without an internet connection, the gaming experience probably won’t be as exciting or feature-packed.

As for used games, the FAQ states that the Xbox One is designed “to enable customers to trade in and resell games.” Of course, these are pretty vague statements, and we wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few details that we’re not aware of yet that Microsoft isn’t telling us, but it at least provides us with a little assurance.
http://news.xbox.com/2013/05/qa

Q: Will Xbox One allow players to trade in, purchase and play pre-owned games?
A: We are designing Xbox One to enable customers to trade in and resell games. We’ll have more details to share later.

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.

Right now, it's 2GB locked for the O, and 1GB reserved for possible future use, but that other 1GB isn't being used for anything yet.

Nope, 8 GB total, but they have usb 3.0 and an 8 core cpu. Its about as obscure as you can be. Transistor count means fuck all, how many are in the cpu or ARM chip or other dedicated chips.

My phone has a 4 core cpu, xbox one confirmed as only twice as powerful as my phone !!!

The "specs" they listed is the equivalent of them pissing on us and calling it rain. It stinks of having nothing to brag about and being totally outclassed by the opposition.

well, MS not going the high-end way is official:
Engadget.com has an inside-look-video on the development of the Xbox One, watched it and the following line caught my attention:

"We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics. We targeted it more as a broad entertainment play." (at the 5:43-minute-mark)

True, box is big, but it'll fit right in with my other devices in living room, or future living room anyway :P

What the hell is that game in the bottom right? RPG!? Kameo style adventure game? Rare? Curious about that. Also, some think that bottom left icon confirms Crackdown.

What exactly is the highest end, though? It surely isn't what's inside either the PS4 or Xbox. :) Both are powerful systems, but does either really have the highest end graphics based on what we know to be out there?

Microsoft impressed me much more with their console reveal simply by just turning up an actual console. The PS4 reveal was silly, all that hype just to see a controller that still has it's sticks in the wrong position.

MS show the (rather slick looking) console at the console event and save the games for the games event (E3), Sony show the games at the console event and save the console for the games event. To me it's pretty clear who has the right focus.

I personally don't think either focus is wrong, so long as the focus is correct and on point at E3. Sony wanted to get a specific message across at their event. They did so successfully. Microsoft wanted to get a specific message across at their event. They did so successfully. Between the two, Sony's is likely to be viewed more positively among the gaming press and core gamers, but that also doesn't mean that Microsoft did a terrible job. I think that was a damn good presentation of the system's capabilities and features and I expect them to really go for broke at E3. They showed that games are a priority, but they weren't acting as if they were directly talking to that audience full throttle just yet. And they more or less told people this in the podcast leading up to the event. E3 is where Microsoft shows all or at least its biggest cards. Sony will do the same. It will be exciting :)
