it's not an image of the game. at the conference there was a green agility orb in the bottom left of the screen. more a hint then anything.

And yes, the lack of backwards compatibility, specifically for XBLA, strikes me as a big deal. And it's why I broke up with XBLA years ago. The only assurances I received for the future of the platform were from you! :)
Well I was confident at the time!

Hardware emulation is hard but I'm disappointed they didn't make an effort with it given they at least had a go with the nightmare scenario faced (in computing terms) the first time. No reason why they couldn't have selectively made available the easy wins in terms of emulation and held back the edge cases other than they don't see it as important, clearly.

All those old games sitting there available to download would clearly have distracted launch buyers from TV content and they couldn't have that, I suppose.

Hark at me sounding like the wounded lover. I'm not even sure I have to wait for E3. We'll see;-

Forza 5, Halo 5, Fable ONE, Gears ONE, Killer Instinct, Kinnect Sports ONE, Kinnect Fit ONE, Ryse, Kinnect Dance ONE, Quantum Break, Some other FPS from Black Tusk

That's 11/15 without trying too hard.

MS has to clear up the second hand games and backwards compatibility confusion ASAP. E3 will make or break the next Xbox. Show us those 15 exclusive games ( minus all the Kinect crap) and then we can judge for ourselves.

I think everyone needs to chill around here and stop jumping to conclusions just yet.
They really do need to clear it up alimo. I won't be buying anymore Xbox 360 titles, DLC, arcade games. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Until it's cleared up. And it's not just about BC, it's about not understanding their plan and not knowing whether any purchases retail/marketplace would have any future playability. Microsoft has to understand that.

As for jumping to conclusions, well Microsoft was too vague for us to do much else. Games is MS' major card now. But...............there are few things still lingering.

-The Wired article clearly states the Xbox One is 4K capable. To be more accurate, it can push TWO HD signals at the same time. THAT is beyond the range and scope of a 1.2tfp GPU.
In one corner, a massive 4K television is seamlessly playing two HD video streams from a single box. Though the Xbox One is capable of pushing and receiving 4K signals, this test station is an illustration of how Microsoft's architecture went into the console's SoC (not a demonstration of its raw power). Spillinger said that the new console's ability to decode multiple HD streams at once is a measure of his team demanding specific silicon design from third-party partners.
-The Xbox One apparently has the ability to do partially resident textures and hardware virtual texturing. According to what I've read these are features only supported by the Radeon 7900 series, specifically the 7970. Now that may not necessarily mean it's a 7950/7970, but I'm only stating that is currently only supported by the 7900 series. Even in the event that it is not a 7900 series, it does point to a GPU with great customization.

-Microsoft is also claiming BW of 200GBs. I don't know if this is creative math or what. They threw that 5Billion transistors number out at us and seem to be leaving it up to us to figure out how it all adds up. This is very frustrating in the sense that the PS4's APU is only 3Billion transistors total. So one would think "hey 5Bill, that's 2 Billion more than Sony right?" The problem is that MS has a very busy SoC with esram and move engines hypervisors etc. Still we can do a little figuring on our own based upon what we know. CPU - Most agree it won't be more than a Billion. ESRAM - 1.5 Billion 6T. That leaves about 2.5 for the GPU and whatever else that's not yet accounted for. That's not nearly enough for a 7900 series is it? So we REALLY need some info on the GPU's customizations to see how they get to 200GBs of BW and how it's capable of 7900 series only functions. Because 200GBs would mean a 1Ghz processor.

-Xbox One. Has anyone bothered to notice that the NAME Xbox One doesn't appear on any part of the hardware at all? NO WHERE AT ALL? Now even VGL had some info on hardware upscalability, and I'm wondering how much the less than fourth coming spec information has to do with that.

-Xbox One+Cloud Capability = More Power. At the Architectural Panel one of the themes that kept getting ratcheted up was "super computer architecture" It was also heavily emphasized during the reveal as well, being described as "rocket science"
Tim Stevens Arc Panel- "Over time, your box gets more and more powerful"
Hmph, we'll see. Hopefully with more detail at E3.

The thing is that most of the features that I found impressive yesterday weren't even game related. That being said, most if not all of the complaints being made about the One don't actually take anything away from it being a powerful game console. Need more info, more detail, because it doesn't look like they helped themselves too much with yesterday's reveal.

The x1's video card is detailed here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-s...

Its not even close to as powerful as a 7900 series card. Not even remotely close.

And to speak towards the whole "cloud computing power"... that is simply impractical. There's too much latency, and even if it did somehow work lets consider that if someone did not have internet access they literally could not play the game. How would developers take advantage of this? The reality is that its just not as powerful a machine as the PS4 and its targeted at a mass audience who doesn't care about high-end graphics, that much is what I've taken away from their strategy thus far.

Hmmm looks like Ryse has changed to 'Controller based gameplay' enhanced by Kinect, i shall reserve my judgment until i see it in action, as i had written this game off as a Kinect only game.

Always been a hybrid title. Pretty sure it was even announced as one. Be interested to see just how badly kinect will hurt the game though. Are we going to get a steel battalion travesty, where it could have been a good game if it wasn't for kinect?

I'm pretty sure it was annouced as a Kinect only title or Kinect being the main controller, the discription now makes it sound like you dont have to use kinect at all?, ala Mass Effect 3??, who knows will have to wait and see.

MS fucked up this event for GAMERS (myself included), period. The rest of the world is however impressed, it seems.

in any case, if those 15 exclusive games that MS has mentioned are dominated by Kinect, they can kiss my money goodbye!

I am NOT buying either console at launch so will wait up those 12 months nicely to see who can sit comfortably inside my home.

I know and I agree. For us, it was a complete and utter disaster...what came after the event in terms of backwards compatiblity, 2nd hand games is simply TOO MUCH to forgive.

If your talking only 'games' both reveals were similar in content, E3 will have a lot of games but i doubt it will be all 15 at the show.

No of course they wont be. They will be released within 12 months, after which time I can decide if the console is actually worth it.

At the rate at which I am playing games right now, both 360/PS3 will keep me busy for the next two years, lol, so I wont complain.

Yeah i agree no BC sucks for those that want it, but Sony don’t have it out of the box either, they are saying it will be available via Gahki, but who knows when it will happen, how much the service will cost, and how good it will work, and also do you have to buy all your old ps3 titles you already own again? No one knows anything yet, on the used game side I’m still thinking both consoles will implement similar used game polices, hopefully we find out more at E3?

I think the overall feel of the thing is that they're moving away from games.
It's becoming a PC which has no used games, but at least let you carry over what you've purchased in the past on a PC.

The tv integration just feels stupid to me. They already tried to make a splash in sports, especially in soccer and those programs got LARGELY ignored. No one uses it. They'd also be breaking apart sports fantasy people who are already connected through their computers. Unless the service is cross platform.
Who wants another device to manage their television service? It's already cumbersome for most consumers

There's a scale that all these guys are on, from casual fans to the more die hards. Nintendo is certainly off the deep end with Microsoft not far behind now. Playstation is the only one left it seems.

Holding out for the games at E3 I guess, but it'll largely be disappointing probably. You have to figure some of those big franchises they want to reveal aren't exclusive and some are Kinect based.
