None of those things you mentioned will kill gaming on Xbox Korn. Nothing. You're simply jumping on the dog pile and overreacting to the TV and Kinect stuff. And just stop it, you were never going to be first in line for a new Xbox. Just stop it............please.

It's also the irony of it all. calling it Xbox One, well don to them, it will surely take them back to where they started with Xbox 1 - the last position and rightly so.

OMG are you kidding me ?

Vgleaks gave comphrehensive info on their site. No pastebin rumors or IGN forum rumors or any BS. Those were leaks, they have the leaked docs. Big thanks to vgleaks. I think it is important to spread it so people are not confused with 8GB ram and 8 core processors. Microsoft will never go into details or admit it. This is so obvious. Also 3GB is reserved and it has 3 OS for multitasking, skype other apps, kinect functionality etc.
Specs won't too much difference. Most people won't be even be able to tell differences. Moreover this gen PS3 was considered to have more horsepower overall. Many people believe GT5 runs at 1080P lol. XO is suppose to be 8 times more powerful than 360. Although it might just some PR talk like 5 billion transistor

I think what was a telling factor is that Microsoft gave a sneek vision about the XO. They want to dominate the living room experience with entertainment for family. Their priorities are different. The amount of backslash they are getting in gaming forum and internet is funny. I din't think it would turn out like this irrespetive of specs and what not. I also think Microsoft have some surprises in E3 with games. Doing a timed exclusive GTA game for a year or something like that is something I am not ruling out. Obviously they will not say it is timed exclusive only. But something like this will definitely help. Exclusive EA game is rumored, Ryse is obviously there.

It wont kill Xbox as a brand no, but it will kill the hardcore gamers group who followed 360 so tightly and focuses only on games and dont like the bullshit no used gamesónline requirment+kinect requirment, there is a difference between that and the TV+sports+voice remote control lol.
Majority is pissed and complaining on the same issues Korn said and those are even from 360 only owners and fanboys, so he is not wrong at all.

Only E3 will determine and all they can do now is show the games, pure exclusives at that and i dont mean teasers with CGI or target renders, and not the ones that years from now will go to PC or PC/PS4 like Ninja Gaiden and Mass Effect did nor timed DLC exclusives.
And IMO the exclusives got to be the best freaking AAA titles they ever come up with ever since Halo and Gears of War, but the chances are very low i am sure of that.

I never said i was going to first in line. Not sure where you got that from?!?... But i was going to buy one after a year or so (much like i bought a PS3 a year or so after launch after owning a 360 since launch) but if they don't fix the broken anti consumer BS, i won't even do that. No way i can support a system that is so fundamentally flawed.

I suspect they will show as much or more exclusives than Sony, so as always it will boil down
to what games people like and want to buy that determines what console they buy.

Haha, nobody seems to have caught on yet that multiple sites have conflicting information, and that some sites have clarified this issue already, making it clear that Microsoft has not finalized all of these things. Yes, as incredible as it may sound, even some major people at Microsoft didn't have all the answers and so said what they thought made sense based on what they know is being considered by the company, but they said these things because they were kinda put on the spot. The very fact that Microsoft has been clarifying some of this stuff and issuing official statements to clarify or caution jumping to conclusions, clearly means exactly what it means, that they are doing SOMETHING related to all the information out there, but what and how has not been finalized.

For example, the 24 hour check is something that may be non-existent in its entirety when the new xbox launches later this year.

As it should. But to reiterate, the reason why this is such a confused issue is because Microsoft themselves haven't nailed down all the little details yet. You have some sites saying that there is a 24 hour check, you have some saying no such thing, and that an internet connection absolutely isn't required for anything else other than the registration of game discs and playing games on your account on a different xbox at someone else's house.

If this is the case, and not just a feeble attempt at damage contol, when why in christs name did they even bother talking about it? If they didn't know yet how these policies will work, they should have kept their mouth shut, or do they like all the negative press? Maybe they thrive on knowing gamers hate their system?

Hah, if only it were so simple. They are in interviews, they get asked questions, and nobody wants to give a non-answer, so they give the best answer that they can based on what they know is being contemplated, but it will always be flawed because all the details still aren't finalized and certain considerations may not even happen come launch. That 24 hour thing that Harrison mentioned is probably not even going to be in the console in any shape or form, but Harrison knew that it was one of many considerations, and so when pressed for further clarification, he tossed it out. These guys are human beings and people make mistakes.

We know how this works. If he neglects to comment or keeps his mouth shut, as it were, then people take that as clear confirmation that the worst thing imaginable is happening. People aren't always reasonable and say, "Well, okay, they just aren't commenting yet. Let's wait and find out." No, people instantly assume where there's smoke there's fire. And if we arrive and there's no fire, let's start one :)

And for the record not all gamers are reacting this way to the new Xbox. They understand that the details on the system haven't been locked down entirely and will know all the facts before launch.

Nah I can't see how they can have as many exclusives as Sony, given they have half as many 1st party .. or are we talking money hats here ?

Over the last 2 years Xbox has been pretty bad for games IMO, Halo 4 was about the only thing worth getting excited for that was exclusive.

Exactly.
How many times have we heard "no comment" from companies. It's realy not that difficult, or weird, or frowned upon to say it. And in this case, MS should have stuck with that. Or their just trying their damnedest to backpedal their way out of it after seeing the massive backlash against their reveal?

Whatever the case, i think they've made their bed as far as core gamers are concerned...now they just need to lay in it.

Well, people have fun with this stuff, hence the thread title. Understandable. Even after sites have confirmed that Microsoft isn't blocking used games, but is merely just creating a system by which to manage them on the new xbox. Even after Gamestop has clarified what they know and that Microsoft isn't blocking used games, but simply creating a system over live to handle them effectively, and even after it has been revealed that Microsoft is designing a digital rights trade and sell system to allow me, for example, to pass the digital rights to my game to you, granting you digital ownership of a game that was in my collection, giving you the choice to

#1 - install my game disc on your own xbox (if I'm in a position to physically hand you the disc, obviously)
#2 - download the game over the cloud, since all xbox one titles will be available over the cloud for download.

So, if it works as expected, Microsoft technically didn't destroy the sense of trading in games or reselling them, but has simply streamlined the entire process. Wouldn't it be nice to borrow your friend in Florida's copy of Destiny while you're in Europe and then give it back to him after playing it for about 2 weeks, all through the trading not of physical game discs, but of the digital rights to those games? If this is how it ends up, won't a lot of this have been over nothing? I understand why people would be concerned though, because they heard Microsoft was messing with used games, but maybe not as bad as some think. *Stops spinning* :)

Some tipbits i found interesting from Major Nelson:
Larry, could you please provide some more clarity as to how users will be able to play used games on the Xbox One?

Quote:

Major Nelson (Larry Hryb): We are still months away from the launch of Xbox One & policy decisions are still being finalized.

Could you clarify the situation regarding multiple accounts on ONE console. My boyfriend and I both have our own accounts. Will we be made to pay twice for 1 game in order for us both to use our own accounts?

Quote:

Major Nelson (Larry Hryb): As I noted earlier we're still working on some of the policies..but our goal is that it would work like it works today on Xbox 360.

Major, why do you think gamers should buy XboxOne?

Quote:

Today's gamers want access to great games...the Xbox One will have great games powered by Xbox LIVE. We've worked hard to create the ultimate All In One Console. BTW : We have a LOT more gaming news to share at E3 :)

Hi Larry. There seems to be some confusion in the media on how frequently users must connect to the internet to use the Xbox One. Will this be as frequent as once a day as rumored or will we be able to use the console for extended periods of time without an active connection? Thank you.

Quote:

Answer: No. It does not have to be always connected but it does require an internet connection.

Which areas of the Xbox One will you be focusing on at your E3 presentation?

Quote:

Games. Games. GAMES :)

hey larry, will there be any support for 3d or 4k?

Quote:

Indeed. Xbox One supports BOTH 3-D and 4K.

Simple question. Can I opt to exclusively use the controller and NOT Kinect?

Quote:

As always, that is a decision up to game creators.

What's the word on backwards compatibility with 360 games?

Quote:

Xbox One hardware is not compatible with Xbox 360 games. We designed Xbox One to play an entirely new generation of games. Games are architected to take full advantage of the state of the art processors and infinite power of the cloud.

Do you believe you've done enough to make the hardcore gamer happy while still appealing to a wider audience?

Quote:

The hardcore gaming audience has given us some great feedback, and we watch that feedback carefully. I think they’ll be happy after E3.

any specific examples of how the new Xbox Live power will help games?

Quote:

Indeed…the new architecture allows developers to do processing in the cloud in really really smart ways. That will results in much richer gaming experiences than ever before. Again more at E3 :)

Thanks for all the great questions....sorry we could not get to all of them. I encourage people to look at the official Xbox One FAQ we’ve posted that may answer more questions http://news.xbox.com/2013/05/qa

"If it works as expected" -- You mean, if your best case scenario comes to light? How many times has that worked out for you in the past?

Less than you think, I think.

Make dat anti-consumer DRM sound like your best bud. They're removing a great deal of flexibility from the console space. But go ahead and dream up scenarios where it's actually in our best interest.

It's not for our interests.
