UE4 unveiled - First glimpse of next gen games?

I wouldn't say that 2GB won't cut it. If we're achieving what we are now on 512MB, technically less when you factor in the OS requirements, then we're really doing pretty damn good for ourselves this gen. 2GB, I feel, should be the bare minimum for any next gen console, but of course 4GB would be ideal. In fact, I'd love one of the console manufacturers to just say, to hell with it, and go with 8GB of RAM. Because 8GB really would make a pretty damn big difference in so many ways.

Either way, a lot of people on forums I've looked at are somehow expecting the new Xbox or playstation console to disappoint in the power and visuals department. People continue to be surprised with what we are getting out of this gen, so I'm surprised that some feel we won't see a drastic difference in our games with the next generation of consoles. Sure, they'll start out mostly looking the same, but then there will come a point where to compare the two generation of games is an insult.

Yea that looks pretty good, not as good as the SE tech demo though.
Are you talking technology (rendering and content creation) or art?

Looks more like a textures and shader effects to me, very nice brushed metal effects going on there.

The graphics took a hit when they showed it off yesterday from the first reveal of the engine, looks muddy and bad textures now. But nice particle effects though.

I seen way worse, but i am just comparing this demo to the reveal demo nothing else.

How are you even making that comparison? It's like the first 2 seconds of the demo that's the same and, at least to me, there is VERY little difference in that. And yeah, put them up side by side. Because i'm a nerd with no life :P

The new segment, yeah it looks different. But here you get the camera swooping over a shattering landscape with rocking trees and rubble flying all over the place as compared to a cinematic pan over a static mountainscape. Hardly a fair assessment imo :P

Well someone at neogaf showed the same image of the warrior with the hammer, same angle from older one and the new one side by side, and you could see how the newer one doesnt come close in the same detail of the old one.

Just saying what i saw, if i find the comparison shots i will give a link, but no need to get your temper up, calm down :)

Maybe because it was originally shown on a PC that was more advanced than this version on hardware "similar" to the PS4

They sure looks like to turn up as good games though.

Like that Samartian or whatever it was called were the dude turns into iron and kicks some ass. Would love to see that as a game for next gen.

I don't know.. I suppose. That series really doesn't excite me that much anymore. I grabbed the first one and I enjoyed it for what it was, but I always had the gut feeling that it would start seeming generic and uninteresting, and I feel like it did.
