doesnt look bad for a wii game tbh. levels look a bit sparse tho and i kinda expected it to be a really dark, tim burton esque take on mickey, but it all looks quite upbeat and mickey-like. kinda dissapointing really. but then i was dissapointed by the fact it was on the wii too.

Willing to bet that disney had a say on it having to be like this instead of like the concept.

I always imagined this would look like Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast. That had some excellent, dark, moody locations that still look great. What's evident in these screenshots however is art direction that is all over the place and the colour palette used is just jarring to look at.

Hopefully it all comes together in the end though. With the way Disney seem to be backing this, it'd really end up a super bizarre chapter of videogaming history if it doesn't.

To be honest, the art direction maybe down to Disney changing there minds half way through after seeing warrens vision in motion so the new child friendly art direction is clashing with the concept.

Back to mickey, I indeed agree with you and ManThatIdontFear. It seems like the game is undecided which way it should go in terms of art direction and ended up looking like a complete mess! I felt the same way with Banjoo Kazooie but to a lesser extent. Here, it's simply a complete clash between dark and colorful and it aint pretty nor gritty.

I'll give this the benefit of the doubt though, I stumbled across some kind of animation test thing on... Destructoid I think it was, and that looked really good. I hope this is just about screenshotting badly, because a lot of games really do and then they come to life in motion.
