Free expansion packs will release after the launch of Wild Hunt next year, akin to The Witcher 2's continuous, free post-release support.
Wild Hunt isn't broken up into acts, as the REDengine 3 permits the exploration of a vast, open-world without loading screen interruptions. Enemies won't scale to Geralt's level, though, so you can wander into territory filled with too-tough monsters who will wreck our intrepid hero. Along the way, you can expect to encounter friendlies and enemies in a dynamic world affected by unpredictable weather, including randomly generated storms, and water physics while sailing.
Fast travel is a go, and Geralt can mount horses for both transportation and combat.
Geralt will play the part of monster-hunter and detective throughout his quests, which developer CDP claims will occupy more than 100 hours of players' time. He'll have almost five times the amount of unique character animations, too.
Each new area of the game – Skellige, the metropolis of Novigrad, and "No Man's Land" – has its own story. Non-linear storytelling with branching paths dictates that avoiding the central plot of seeking out Geralt's lost love, Triss Merigold, will have ramifications.
In combat, you can interrupt attack animations to dodge or block, which depletes stamina. Dodging isn't a big somersault anymore, however – Geralt pivots to evade attacks while maintaining the momentum of a fight. Enemy AI has been retooled as well, and quick-time events are out entirely.

- Three different aspects to narration
- Lowest level: free-form activities like monster hunting, crafting, individual standalone quests
- Second step: political situation and Nilfgaardian invasion is resolved through the core plotline of the major areas (Skellige, Novigrad, No Man’s Land)
- Each land has its own storyline
- Can abandon the storyline, but will have repercussions later
- Not doing a plotline is a choice the player has
- Main narrative: search for Geralt’s loved ones and conflict with the Wild Hunt
- Multiple branches of narratives that feed into each other

- Can glean information from a crime scene upon discovering it
- Within range of a scene of interest, the mechanic conveys clues to the player through the witcher muttering to himself and/or visual depictions of past events that represent Geralt’s reasoning
- Time of day and other conditions determine where monsters appear and their abilities
- Can strike critical areas in combat based on how much you learn about monster anatomy and tactics
- The team is deciding between using a handful of in-combat special moves for particular attacks and a slow-motion quick-time event style
- Monsters you defeat leave otherwise unobtainable alchemical and crafting ingrediants needed for making of unique items, potions, mutagens
- These allow Geralt to gain special powers and upgrades in the new mutation development tree
- These kills serve as the witcher’s primary method of income

Inscrit depuis 7442 JoursIt is hit detection problem, when you hit something and enemies dont react it its a problem. Or when they attack you with a sword and you roll out of the way and not close to the attack you still get hit. its inconsistent thats what it is.
So yeah, in such games combat is important considering thats how you level up in the game period. Sorry for not having a shitty standard in one thing that makes the gameplay actually matter.

Inscrit depuis 6901 JoursI brought up Ninja Gaiden because as soon as you play a game with a action focus that's not flipping out like a ninja on speed you think the hit detection is shit or it's boring or something. I'm telling you that's not really an issue with this game and i think you might have unrealistic expectations of it, or that you want it to be something that it's not.
Not having invincibility frames in a roll is not bad hit detection, that is just you being used to invincibility frames and they ask you to have timing instead. Big difference. Also if you slam your sword in to an enemy shield, you stagger. Not them. Makes sense. If you hit an enemy you have a little gush of blood, a clear sound effect and a stagger animation on them, what more do you bloody need? You want them to stop, hold up a bright pink cue-card that says "i'm hit!", then stand around for a bit before slowly putting it away? :P

The hit detection sometimes, rarely registers from what i played but yes most of the time the enemies reacted perfectly to the attacks.
And yes, I rather have superhuman abilities that is speedy with exagerated moves than having realistic behavior, i find them more fun and unique, something i prefer anytime, but thats obviously what i wasent nor expect to happen in Witcher, and dont want it since thats not the type they are going for so i accept that since there are other games for that sort of thing.
Now it may be some bug issue or something for the hit detection i dont know, but it was annoying to me.
The whole staggering, I am perfectly fine with it since it makes sense why heavy armored enemies with shields or claymores is blocking your attacks, I never brought it up since it didnt bother me.

There is nothing wrong with the hit detection in TW2, there is however some bug that appears rarely that sometimes the attacks don't register but I have always said its some kind of bug and not a combat system problem.
In fact I think TW2 combat system is one of the best for a RPG that is, is closer to Souls series and still mantains its own identity of strategy and positioning, I like it very much.
WIth this game they will make openworld finally, what I wanted, I can't wait though I still don't know for what system I will buy this if I even have a new system by then when it releases.

Inscrit depuis 7505 JoursUnfortunately for you this game isn't based completely around combat and killing people. It's why Megido brought up NG. This is the style of Witcher, and it's a choice they made.
Hit detection is when a game doesn't register your blow or damage to the enemy. It's much different than what you're trying to say. It's a technical problem not a stylistic choice.
Like in NS2 you can tell when you're shooting some dude and it's not doing anything 3 out of 5 times. That is hit detection.
Inscrit depuis 7442 JoursI still got my copy of Witcher 2 on 360 so I will give it another go maybe it will grow on me if i give it enough time and start leveling up more, kind of lower my standard for what the genre is. I really want to like it though since this is the only action RPG fantasy that appeals to me the most, especially after seeing those Witcher 3 images, the locations and art is awesome.
They seem to have gone with the norse/viking style now with snow environment also in something I always prefer but never gotten (Skyrim was boring to me).
