Xbox 360

Atari just released these following 15 images of Test Drive Unlimited, presenting some new cars and paint jobs. Looks great, even though they still have to work some more with the in-car-view if they want to compete with PGR3.
Update: Added a some kind of map image. Seems like motorcycle's still are in.

since its an MMO will it cost extra money every month to play it? Or do you only need a Gold Live membership?

not really my type of game but the screenshots are impressive. I like the fact the game is much more open than PGR3, you won't feel like a "rat in a cage" like you do with PGR3.

The online driving won't have a monthly charge, basically everyone will be dumped on the island and you can challenge people on the roads to races. I have no idea how exactly this will work but again it's a great idea, I hope they can make it work and make it fun.

This seems to be a very promising game.

I for one am not a big fan of in-car view in Project Gotham Racing 3. It shakes all the time when speed is over 10 km/h. It must be the shaky driver and not poor suspension because in other views car doesn't shake so much.

That shaking may bring some of that sense of speed but in my opinion it should be delivered in some other way.

World Racing for Xbox has a good in-car view in my opinion.

I think you will not have to pay additional money to play this game online. That's what GOLD-membership is for.

the ingame view in pgr3 is imho the only way you should play pgr3. Once you get used to it you will find the other views to be stale and feel less real. Believe me. The incar view of pgr3 is really what sets the game apart the competetion.

As for Testdrive:UL I think it seems to be shaping up rather nicely. Im looking forward to some handson report on how the cars feel and the sensation of speed. And not least how the whole community side of the game is shaping up. This could very well be a winner.

You can tell the sense of speed from still shots? UNBELIEVABLE. How are the physics?
Maybe I should have said "motion blur" because you guys can't understand it otherways. It gives a sense of speed when you use blur in a racing game, doesn't it?

the way i think of PGR3 Vs TDU is a comparison with Xbox 360 (or PS3) Vs Nintendo Revolution,

xbox360 (ps3) = PGR3, graphically superior, but rather consevative in its concept (lots of ways of making the same gameplay better)

revolution = tdu, values gameplay over graphics, a great game with crap graphics can be better than a crap game with great graphics (im not saying PGR3 is a crap game btw) it is putting the gaming experience in a new direction, it is a totally original concept, and will either flourish or flop

also TDU's in car view will poo on PGR3's from a great height, as you can see the driver (and customise him) but also the fact that when you look behind yourself (as in turn head) you see the interior of the car, (back seats/engine) not the 'trunk-cam' like in PGR3

they probably did that for gameplay purposes. Tell me, would you like to turn around in the Ferrary F50 GT and NOT SEE ANYTHING!

Those guys at bizarre are no noobs, and whatever they put or take out has been thought deeply

LOL, shame on me, didnt notice that error.

If thats what the side mirrors are for, then why care about looking at the back seats and not the road

Realism i suppose, if you can see the inside of the car infront of you, shouldnt you be able to see the inside of the car behind you aswell, If the real life drivers can cope without being able to see out of the back then i'm sure we can too!

Plus in a lot of cars you can still see out of the back window anyway, so you will see the seats AND what is behind you, im sure that you can see a fair bit out the back of this:

PGR folks go for playability rather than realism. I would take your point if PGR was driven towards simulation, but we all know this isnt the case ; )
