As promised, here is the first video from the beta of Halo 3, in 720p but shorter version so the size was acceptable. The full video in 640x360 will be online in about 30 minutes. More videos will of course follow.
Worth mentioning, the awesome performance of Snoopers, our own Benny Hill.
Update 1: Complete version in 640x360 available, as a stream too.
Update 2: Second video in 720p short version online!
Update 3: Long version 640x360 of the second video.
Update 4: Let's be done for tonight with this last 720p video.
Update 5: Some people asked for it, so there is the title screen and its music.
Update 6: As expected, here is the complete version of the first video in 720p resolution.
Update 7: This time I'm really done with this news. Enjoy the second video in full 720p glory.

Commented on 2007-05-12 00:51:04GOW sp & mp gfx is the same, but it also compromise the game mode, thus limitting to 8 players only.
Halo 3? 4 player splitscreen....it's 16 or 32? I forgot...
As for half life 1 & 2. The timeframe between hl1 and hl2 is like what, 4 years?
Halo 2 & Halo 3...2-3 years only.
Commented on 2007-05-12 00:56:28If your talking graphics, It's very clear that these could not have been acheive on the XBOX 1. The geometry is more detailed, the lighting is dynamic, the textures are far superior and they react to light in a much more realistic way. Every weopon has a noticable visual upgrade as do explosions. Add to that 4 player split screen, 16 players, massive maps, and realistic foliage and grass and you've got yourself a good looking nextgen shooter that looks better than most of the "competition" .
Stylistically, this is very similar to Halo2 (and Halo1 for that matter). Why would the style change?, it's a sequel. So of course the color pallet it going to be similar, of course the level design is going to be similar. of course, the way MC moves is going to be similar. ofcourse the gameplay is going to be similar. With sequels, you don't expect drastic changes, you expect improvements and tweaks. and based on the beta, we've gotten that.
If you look at a screen shot of Halo3 MP and Halo2 MP screen shot, you're going to see one game that would look like shit in the current gen and another that would be impossible in the last gen. thats a undeniable fact.

Commented on 2007-05-12 01:03:36If you ask me, from seeing this vids, it looks like another UT2004 ( good game yes ) but that was 2004... this is 2007.
I dont' get this hype, I liked Halo 1 was good, Halo 2 was just another Halo over again bad map design nothing new beside that, every map looked the same and after a while you enter like the 15th same room.. or wait it wasn't the same it... just look the same.
Commented on 2007-05-12 01:07:23 In reply to Trup1aya4rea1I already mentioned lighting and textures being better, in addressing a point you might want to make sure you got it.

I think there is going to be a lot more competition for Halo this generation.. but they've still got something special.
Simon.. I'm not sure what you're on about either to be honest. Are you saying that the gameplay looks too simular to the first two games? Seems to me that they're changing it quite a bit.. mostly through the addition of new items/weapons/vehicles.. but still.. it's a change. I would have liked to see the movement system change a little.. but it is what it is.

Normal people expect graphical upgrades and gameplay improvement. Retards like yourself expect the game to "look different". Your kind of changes would make halo3 not so "halo-esque".
Commented on 2007-05-12 01:19:29 In reply to GriftGFXThere's Pandora Tomorrow different and there's Chaos Theory different. It seems Halo 3 is another Pandora Tomorrow to Halo 1. Dunno if you've played the Splinter Cell games at all or if that analogy is lost on you, but either way I think you already got my point.
Commented on 2007-05-12 01:25:32The thing that makes people see this as a Halo 2 remake is that the design is the same. But if you invent the weel why change it when people loves it?
When i'm getting Halo 3 I want the feeling of Halo 2 with a nextgen touch, a bunch of uppgrades in multi and a new singelplayer story but NOT a totally diffrent game. If you want a diffrent game look for the FPS brand not named Halo.
Everyone can't love the Halo games, just like everyone don't see why FF games are sometimes great. But the fact still stands, Halo 1 is reconed as one of the best game ever made for console and both game got 9+ from every respected mag/site known to man.
Commented on 2007-05-12 01:34:17 In reply to Trup1aya4rea1I don't agree that for example subtly changing the way his weapon bobs into something more immersive would make the game less "halo-esque".
Perhaps you just don't agree with me that Halo 1 was the absolute pinnacle of first person shooter game design when it came out, and that a "next gen" Halo on vastly more powerful hardware could represent at least similar strides. It wouldn't have to totally re-invent itself, but from a "wow!" perspective, this will be clobbered by so many other FPS games it's not even funny. I reckon even Condemned will come across as a more "new gen" experience to most people.
But I digress. I hoped - never expected - that this game would give me something new. A new sensation when playing it even though it's fundamentally the same even. Indeed, quite retarded of me.
Commented on 2007-05-12 01:34:18In the case of halo3, at least to me, based on videos of the beta, those improvements are there. i have expectations, but i don't expect bungie to make a Halo game that isn't "Halo" anymore. with sequels, i expect improvements, not changes. changes lead us to games like DefJam Icon.
ps, i shouldn't have called you a retard. my bad.

Commented on 2007-05-12 01:42:18Anyone calling this Halo 2 HD needs to be strapped naked to some fusion cores and launched from a man cannon for target practice.
Snoopers: The bubble shield encounter on the snow map was very Darth Maul in Phantom Menace with you biding your time for him to come out! Nice!

Commented on 2007-05-12 02:56:57ps i wanna see this new improved needler. It was supposed to pack a punch in Halo2, and while it sometimes came through in the clutch, i was disappointed.

Single player will look noticeably better. By the way, posting a cap from the E3 announcement trailer is pointless as that is single player, or would be from single player.
By the way, Blim's screenshots are take from the actual demo. They aren't direct feed. Here are some direct feed from teamxbox.com. The full 720p shots over available over there. Halo 2 HD my butt. Having seen the game in motion, that's what it looks like.
By the way, great job Blim!
Commented on 2007-05-12 05:23:59 In reply to joe_hAlso, your "direct feed" screenshots were originally taken from Bungie.net, where they are like 3800x2200 resolution -- so if they are direct feed from anything, it is from a PC dev kit.
Anyway, the game looks pretty good. I still hope the single player looks dramatically better. The trees in particular are embarassing compared to those in, say, Oblivion (or even in the 8-year old PS2 Ico).
