As promised, here is the first video from the beta of Halo 3, in 720p but shorter version so the size was acceptable. The full video in 640x360 will be online in about 30 minutes. More videos will of course follow.
Worth mentioning, the awesome performance of Snoopers, our own Benny Hill.
Update 1: Complete version in 640x360 available, as a stream too.
Update 2: Second video in 720p short version online!
Update 3: Long version 640x360 of the second video.
Update 4: Let's be done for tonight with this last 720p video.
Update 5: Some people asked for it, so there is the title screen and its music.
Update 6: As expected, here is the complete version of the first video in 720p resolution.
Update 7: This time I'm really done with this news. Enjoy the second video in full 720p glory.

Commented on 2007-05-12 08:33:51personally, i'm happy with what i see because i know what to expect out of the hardware. i'm sure the mp will look a bit better in the end, but don't expect miracles. i'm sure single player will be visually more impressive than mp, and that's all i'm worried about. be happy that there is a halo3, and look forward to another fantastic game in the series.

Commented on 2007-05-12 12:40:20While the water effects aren't quite as astounding as Frankie was hyping them to be, they are very nice. When snoops shot the guy by the water, he floated for a bit, sank, and then the waves started rippling over the body in real-time. Thats quite impressive imo.
And i like all the new customisation. Its great to see infiinate ammo options in Matchmaking. My god the rocket looks bad -ass, asplosions have POWER this time.
Oh, and is it just me, or are all the weapons pulled up into the the shoulder more in the first person view? Thats better imo. Guns always used to seem to float way off to the side or right in front in most games.
Commented on 2007-05-12 13:07:23There's only 1 thing that Halo has over all other games imho, and that's the atmospheric music, that's still awesome..

Commented on 2007-05-12 19:16:59Look at the smaller details, which start to add up:
Plants bend under pressure
Bodies and objects float on water
The lighting is absolutely amazing
The texture work is extremely detailed
The animations (were a bit buggy, it is a beta, afterall) are looking very nice
The explosions, in particular, are incredible; spewing particles all over the place
And the list can go on.
Some people are disappointed by the graphics, but you have to understand what you're looking at. Bungie cannot start making everything gritty with trash all over the place like in Gears of War, because then it wouldn't even resemble Halo anymore. The art style is what people are bitching about, not the graphics.
The entire Halo series has been about subtle beauty. Lighting has always been a part of what made the Halo series stunning, and Halo 3 features incredible lighting.
Hopefully when the masses get to play it, they'll see how nice it looks.
And as for the game not looking as good as E3.... that's because E3 was in single player. I thought people knew this by now, but apparently not.
Halo has always looked 2-4 times as good in SP as in MP. The reason for this is simple: When you're rendering 4 screens at a time, you've gotta tone some things down to achieve a good framerate. E3's teaser was from SP, and Bungie even made a documentary about the teaser to prove it was not CG (they showed from multiple camera angles, etc.) and they clearly said that was the minimum graphical setting they'll shoot for in SP on Halo 3.
The game will not disappoint if you open your eyes.

Commented on 2007-05-12 19:49:19No matter how much fun the game will be, it`s graphics sure leave a bad taste in my mouth!
Cheers
PS: Sometimes I think this game is only going to be awesome for some because they want it to be so desperately that you could put Pong in the box and they would still hype it like hell!
