Wii

Super Mario Galaxy has been released today in Japan, and as usual now our good friend DjMizuhara has captured and uploaded some nice videos of the game. Let's start with the first 10 minutes, with more to come.
Update: Second part is up. More videos tomorrow!
Update 2: We are back, this time with the Bee Suit in action and some various gameplay bits.
Update 3: And here comes a third video with even more various gameplay, in very cool levels you've never seen before.
Update 4: Nothing stops DjMizuhara once he gets going, and he sent us nothing less than 3 more videos. Good stuff!
Update 5: One more video, this time showing the Boo suit in action among other things.
Update 6: This time it looks like DjMizuhara's streak is finally over with this last video. Many thanks to him for his great work.

Wow this looks great! And I'll give it max 3 months before we see a game on the other two consoles that completely rips off either the ideas and or the cool geometry shading seen here.
The lighting is nothing new. It's called rim lighting and it's been used in other games before, like Jade Empire or the old-gen Def Jam games. The only difference here is that the lighting is used on all the models instead of just the characters.

That robotic boss (sorry if that spoiled it for anyone, it's not like you don't know how it ends) sold the game for me, if I had a Wii that is =)

I never said Nintendo wasn't relevant, because they obviously are.. But they are not as important as some people think they are, and if Nintendo wasn't there anymore it would certainly not be the end of videogaming as a whole, that's silly indeed..
Well yea not now, as Nintendo (Japan) isn't as important in gaming as they used to be.

But they were once very important, there is no denying that, and the gaming industry would be a very different place without them.
What I mean is, it looks like every "planet" has it's own kind of puzzle, minigame, or boss you have to beat and then you get shot to the next planet, and so on.. Is that it? Or is there some bigger picture I'm missing?
You don't know what Mario is about..

It's about an Evil crocadile that kidnaps a princess, which mario has to traverse a selection of levels to rescue. In this case those levels are in space.

I'm guessing the levels are small like this so the game can be streamed continuously like one massive level.

Nintendo wouldnt have existed the same inovations would have happened but then from another COMPANY.
But they do exist, and they did happen, and they did establish those innovations. Without Elvis there might still have been a Jailhouse Rock. I'm not sure why that's relevant.
That is just you again trying to establish your own ego before attacking again.
What is with the hostility!?
I just say without Nintendo these things would have happened too..
Really? Because I thought it sounded like you were pointing out how Nintendo didn't come up with their innovations, to which I responded that they established them as standard, and now you give me this "but if Nintendo didn't exist...!" angle which is sort of new and sort of.. I dunno.. pointless? Seeing as they exist and all.

There might've been an atom bomb either way, but people are still going to associate it with Einstein.. I wonder why.

I can sum up my entire point, since you seem adamant to tie my SNES remarks to supposed Nintendo fandom. The SNES modem thing was just to illustrate how online enabled consoles have existed in the past, but MS is bound to go down in the books as the ones to bring online gaming to consoles. You think that was an attempt by me to glorify Nintendo again? Stop trying to read that into everything I say.
But you just see it as an attack on Nintendo and somehow that works on you like a red rag on a bull.
You clearly have a great deal of pent up frustration towards Nintendo fanboys, but I'm just not your guy. I had a NES and a SNES, that's pretty much it. I then got a Saturn, proper gaming PC, Dreamcast, then when Sega ditched hardware I went to the Xbox. Got a PS2 when I HAD to have Virtua Fighter 4, then got a Gamecube for christmas. Loads of time passed, and I got the 360 because the Xbox was pretty much my fave console so it was a no brainer. Then the Wii got me super excited so I got that, and because I just have to have every game I'm interested in I got the PS3 aswell, mere weeks later.

I'm not the mindless Nintendo fanboy you clearly associate me with. If you STILL think so then fair enough, I can live with that.

Sure.. And Atari was once very important aswell..

I know about the whole princess thing, but I didn't know it was in every Mario game.. So in this game you rescue the princess again in the end?

As pointed out before this thread is for Super mario galaxy.
If you don't like the game, that's fair enough but don't come in here slagging off Nintendo or I'll start throwing out bans quicker than you you can blink.

@DJ, Boo suit please

I think Inflatable is a person who think games like COD, COD2, COD3, COD4 is extremly cool and awesome.shooting soldiers with a gun and throw some grenades is really cool :S.For me I think those games are garbage and am so sick of all those boring FPS war games out there.Thank you nintendo for not making videogames a big war environment in gaming industry.

At first it seems weird and unsatisfying but once you get used to the flow it's pretty cool. It's a niche and it works.

How dare you speak ill of my genre of choice. *slap* Sure there are a lot of FPSs out there and the majority of them suck but that can't fowl the great FPSs like Halo or COD2. Some people just get it and others don't. Unless you're 12, it's not just about mindlessly shooting and throwing grenades. It's about love... Yeah you heard me.. L....O.....V.....E... It makes the world go round baby and if I can't stop then I'm sure you'll agree that my fins are completely relevant to the price of bananas. EOM

the grade of narcotics you're on must be unusually high..stop with the heresay! i wish people would stop gumballing Nintendo's testicles, ratchet and clank is a whole other experience, from someone who has actually played both games, SMG is a pure mario bro's experience, basic platforming with not so basic twists in conception ..overall, a complete the level, fight the boss, find the secrets collect the thingies to progress and "hi score GET!" experience .. R&C latest is more of a platformer/ shooter with leveling aspects and huge levels to play around /explore/ collect thingies to improve characters attributes..they take different routes toward fun, and will please their audience in their own way. the most fun i've ever had in a platformer is personally R&C, i enjoyed leveling and blowing everything away.. it was just hard enough..but i died waaay more in SMG, so milleage will vary.
