Now that the Cloud DVD has been released in Japan, the trailer many RPG fans awaited, yes I am talking about the Final Fantasy XIII one, is finally available for everyone to watch. It was seen for the first time last December on Square-Enix's Mega Theater by a few lucky guys. I'd like to thank Sath for pointing out the download links in our forums. I'd also like to salute the work of Finalfantasy-xiii.net who ripped both trailers (Versus is coming in the next news!)

Commented on 2007-12-16 00:15:58in summer 2007 SE said that ff13 is 13% compleate
so it is 100% render
Commented on 2007-12-16 00:17:38And even then, it's all target, old footage, not to mention it's obvious people don't have a problem with that because graphically it looks very doable, people have a problem because aside from that it's all CG, and it does get tiresome when a dev almost only shows stuff that you don't get to play in the end.
Commented on 2007-12-16 01:41:17that "13% complete" was a joke ....
He was asked "how far are FF13 and FF Vs 13 in production ?" and he wouldn't answer and finally said jokingly " FF 13 at 13% , FF VS 13 at 1.3%" , you see what he did there (tip: 13th installment , 13% and 1.3% respectively ..) ?
I think it's quite funny that in your first post you criticise the battle system and in your second you say "it was all renders" , for if it's all renders that means we haven't seen anything of the battle system yet , right?

Commented on 2007-12-16 02:34:59when ff12 hit, as a final fantasy fan i went and bought it, i was skeptical about the battle system, but it worked!
it was a fusion of real time and turn based battle systems
i think ff13 seems to follow the same path, lightning seemed to have cast a time freeze or slow down spell and then attacked them in real time, which is the kind of stuff you could pull off in ff12, issuing commands and attacking
anyway, looks amazing and like all final fantasy games, will deliver on giving out a stunning game, few days ago i popped in ffX to my ps2 and it still looks gorgeous as ever
Commented on 2007-12-16 03:30:57I think this game will be awesome, Its my next most wanted game after Cry On now :D and the only reason I own a PS3, but that isn't in game, it is just made to look like it.
Im sure they will get very close to it, if nothing SE know how to make pretty games.

Commented on 2007-12-16 12:35:53 In reply to kenshin2418too bad ffxii looked better than that though.... ffxiii is coming later in the consoles lifespan compared to ffx as well...
Like I said, the devs confirmed in famitsu that the sequence was rendered in real time...however, they didnt get the game up and running on ps3 until this year....so who knows how the game looks...It will look incredible, but some parts of the trailer are hard to take... for instance when the monster shatters the car, or when she is diving from the sky....nothing on consoles looks near that good to me
Still, Final Fantasy XIII is going to own. Haters be damned

Commented on 2007-12-17 02:22:49One perspective.
Commented on 2007-12-17 10:24:15the 12th title dissapointed me, 'caus of the monotony at the end of the game (didn't finish the game, as first FF ever!!!). I hope this title will bring agsin a story and fantasy of a FF7.
And all your arguments if pre-rendered or not. Square was always the king of CGI, so this is most probably NOT ingame (except the battle part), but who cares? The ingame was never the best grafx in FF-games, and it's not that whats the important. Gameplay, story and athmosphere is what counts!!!!
the king of RPGs is back!

Its really easy to see and people that say that its all CG are totally blind.
