Sega have sent us a review code of Viking: Battle For Asgard, from the english developers of Creative Assembly. As usual, we took the time to record a lot of gameplay footage, and here comes the first thirty minutes of the game divided in three files. A fourth video will follow quickly, and will showcase the first big battle of the game, which concludes the first island of the adventure. Enjoy !
Update: Fourth part, showing the big battle right at the end of the first island (a bit less than 3 hours of play time), is up.

Commented on 2008-03-22 05:57:41 In reply to ContraThis isn't a RPG - it's Hack N' Slash adventure. Not Resident Evil or Silent Hill / Adventure, so no you're wrong, a game like this it is a necessity.
All I have to say is RUNE - end of story.
Not taking advantage of the possibilities of a game like this is like cutting off your right leg, yeah you can still walk, just not as far and as long.
So you'll be bored with it mighty quick...or you'll simply be one of those 16 year old douche bags comparing it to God of War with the usual smoke coming out of your ass.
The point is - I think they fucked themselves with this decision, it's a disappointment, and sadly the game will probably end up in the bargain bins just like Conan - and it deserved better.

Also I am glad that there are games based(more or less) on vikings/norse mythology but in Too Human your Balder(or Baldur or whatever it is english speakers "write" him) and in this game Skarin works for Freja(Freya is it?)... I would really like to be/work for one of the likes of Odin, Thor or Tyr.

Commented on 2008-03-22 10:42:54Ive got mixed feeling about this game. Starting from the good things, final battles are really cool, free roaming is quite fun. As some said controls aint good, fighting isnt polished, there is no crowd control, fatalities and other moves are getting a bit boring after a while. Viking is trying to mix different styles of gameplay such as stealth ( it fails here ), figthing ( not even close to Mark of Kri, GOW or even Conan ) sometimes its even trying to be a platformer lol. After beating first isle Ive got same feeling as with AssasinsCreed.....im bored. At least You know that final battle gotta rock so U keep playing.
Afterall Im a huge fan of gore+swords gameplay style so after playing just few hours I'd rate it 7/10.

Commented on 2008-03-22 14:51:43 In reply to GeRaLToBut there ain't really any sidequests in this game? So basically it's like...walking around on those island..exploring some caves and other areas..fighting enemies and eventually those huge fights?
Commented on 2008-03-22 14:59:10I'm pretty sure they wouldn't just lie about that sorta thing.
