Commented on 2008-03-28 20:23:37My reaction to this is that the characters are well animated and realised and that I still regard Rockstar THE developers when it comes to cinematic vibes. That's not just because the trailer reads like a movie trailer, but because they so casually throw themes around that other games are too busy hand picking to appeal to the widest possible audience.
Vice City was an awesomely bold move, to just blast people with the 80s motif and edgy contemporary-in-hindsight humour, and San Andreas cut through the GANGSTAH crap stream with something effortlessly clever, surprisingly ungratuitous and genuinely absorbing.
I think the games have been varying degrees of rubbish if broken down and looked at as separate mechanics, but much like Jonathan Richman's less-than-beautiful singing voice doesn't hurt his charming and heartfelt songs, likewise I reckon GTA always somehow come out better than the sum of their parts.
Of course, if the parts were better that wouldn't hurt.
But yeah, this trailer is my favourite since theeee... um.. second trailer I think it was. And I actually think that this GTA looks to be the most interesting so far. :O

Commented on 2008-03-28 23:46:43Trailers are often too quick and flashy to really get a proper look at the game. Infact, more than often footage in the form of a trailer looks underwhelming compared to actual gameplay footage mainly due to awkward camera angles.
Also, I'd like to see what the framerate's like when actually playing the game. Trailers can have resources like A.I and such disabled, allowing better performance. Atleast, I assume that's how it works but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Commented on 2008-03-29 00:00:28 In reply to KORNdogbut synce said the only thing he liked about the game was the trailers, and what my reply was supost to mean was 'how can you know its the only bit you like about the game if the trailers are the only thing you have to go by until you play it for yourself'
dont get me wrong, i think the trailer was amazing and im really excited for this game.

Jato, i have to disagree.. While trailers can have AI and stuff disabled, most games i can remember had pretty much the same preformance in trailers as in the "real" game.
All we gotta care about, is if this runs better than Saints Row, if so. Im happy.
