Xbox 360 PS3

Grand Theft Auto IV is finally available around the world, and we are now able to offer you the First 10 minutes of this already legendary game. No mission in the video, only the long introduction cutscene which begins with Niko Bellic arriving in Liberty City by boat, and meeting with quite an energetic cousin. The video has been captured from the Xbox 360 version of the game.
Update: Gameplay video added. No mission, only exploration, driving, an outdoor metro trip and some really nice spots.

korndogg, every review didn't say ps3 version is better, BS. Both versions are good= everyone wins. And, this whole 'edge' thing is a wash, they look the same. Really, enjoy w/e version. Anyway, I get the game tomorrow in the mail, can't wait.
Nearly every review (well, those that bothered to even mention system differences, which includes 1up, IGN and a couple others) did give the slight graphical edge, namely in the fewer framerate drops, fewer pop-ups, and slightly shorter loading times department, to the PS3 (which is to be expected because of the mandatory install for the PS3 version (which unlike DMC4 actually did something noticibly positive and it takes LESS time to boot! Nice one Capcom!); had the 360 version had an optional install, I'm sure both versions would have been on par in terms of occurences of pop-ups and loading times). However, unless you stare at it and scrutinize the textures/focus on framerate and pop up you won't notice any differences (much like differences between the PS3 and 360 versions of CoD 4).

Man it looks bad, graphically ...

It kind of looks like an Xbox 1 game, I was never planing on geting this, but was expecting more.

As for PS3 or 360 im not sure it matters it will look like crap on either system :P
Instead of bashing you for no reason, I'm intruiged to ask you a question. What did you expect GTA4 to look like? Show me a pic or something from another game, or show me footage of a cg movie. I'm just wondering what you expected of it graphically. Once again let me state that I'm not bashing you at all, I'm more interested. Many people have different views of what graphics this generation should look like. I'd like to know what yours are.

Small unrelated note: I'm waiting to see what's in store for the pc version.

mmm.. me too. I'll be getting the 360 version but it's not quite out of the question that I might wind up getting it again on PC. No need for Multi Theft Auto this time around!

I get the feeling that it should come pretty close to the PS360 versions (much like the PC versions of the PS2 GTAs), only with a higher max resolution, fewer instances of pop-up, fewer framerate drops, and implementation of AA (though it would probably take a beast to do it).

jackdoe, again its wash. And, its a preference for the style relating to each version. PS3: soft look. 360: vibrant, sharper etc. Framerate is the same in both versions, IGN was referring strictly to pop in. And, by the way, people that have the retail version have stated that pop in is reduced compared to the review copy. Oh, I don't know if its been mentioned or not, and the PS3 Version is 630p while the 360 version is true 720p. Besides that, both pretty much look the alike, play alike, and are equal pretty much. Everybody wins, get w/e version and have fun.

Quaz from B3D mentioned the resolution. He was the 1st to find out that COD4/Halo3 had 600p/640p, respectively. And, the Gamespot review came out, and stated both pretty much look identical and pretty much run the same, besides the load time.

@ above

Who realy gives a crap what version is slightly better. Just stop moaning and enjoy the game. Most people will have their OWN opinion and buy it for the console they like most. So if you girls want to go on bitching about this, be my guest, only I am gonna play the game instead of debate it.

Just wondering, now that GTA4 is out, does that mean every other open world game eg Saints Row 2, 50 Cent game, Postal, Prototype , has just been pucked in the Shizack.

Like seriously how are you going to beat GTA 4 in Graphics, Animations, AI, Story, Gunplay, Innovation. It's like every developer that is releasing an open world game anytime soon must be thinking WTF

newbielives - well, it pretty much comes down to that GTA is a series already haveing sold 'ihavenoidea' how many millions copies. Thus, this allows Rockstar spending 4(!) years developing GTAIV. Not many studios can allow that timeframe of development.

But, surely there is room for more freeroamers than just GTA.

Don't get me wrong I want to see more and more open world games, I just meant if you were a developer making open world games, it must be like iron wrench to the ballz to see how far GTA4 just raised the bar.

Mafia2 though maybe the only one to have the steel nuggets to survive the GTA4 thrashing :)

Holy shiiiiiiiii are you serious? I just came back from playing both Scarface and San Andreas on the xbox. Let me tell you something, this game is a true piece of graphical art in sandbox gaming. If you think this looks like an xbox game you really need to go back and play some previous-gen games. You've obviously forgotten just how awful they really look compared to this.
Comparing it to Crackdown is much more fair and even if it's cell shaded GTA IV still looks a ton times more detailed.

They did a great job with the game judging from the vid. The vehicles are more realistic with the handling and the character really reacts to the environment by the way he went down the stairs. Also I like the way some cars are locked and you have to break inside them.

Just comparing it to other open world games like Assasins Creed for example, its not completely the same thing i know, but I still think GTA4 could have looked better, maybe i am wrong perhaps there is a whole lot more going on underneath the graphics engin that i don't know about or can't see.

I think the city model looks pretty good, but the character models look terrible.

Anyways it doesn't matter hugely graphics aren't that important to enjoying a game, for those that you who have bought I hope it lives up to your expectations.

I can´t see any difference.

Sınce I have both consoles, I´ll have to make a choice.
I´m going for the PS3 version.
DLC doesn´t interest me because I have never finished a GTA before, so I dont think I will this time.
The one thing I hate about my Xbox 360 ıs that it sounds like a vacume cleaner.
This is the only reason for me to go for the PS3 version.

That version debate is just useless in this case. Rockstar made a really good job for both consoles.

Nevertheless I was very surprised to see the streets of Liberty City so empty. In an older video we could see crowded sidewalks etc. I just didn't have the feeling to be in a city inhabited by millions of people. But maybe only the wrong areas of the town were shown, I don't know.

Got it. Am playing it. Love it.

pff. what a game. Although the missions feel a bit to familiar, it really is amazing to see such a vibrant city alive. It doesn't matter which version is the "best", as long as you can play it :)
