PS3

Fans can rejoice ! We are now June 12th, 2008 (in Europe at least :p) and Metal Gear Solid 4 is officially available in every good shop of the civilized world. About our traditionnal First 10 Minutes, we offer you the long introduction cut-scene of the game as well as three gameplay clips from the 1st Act. The shorter one showcases some combat in the streets of the Bagdad-like city you start your journey in, the second one a memorable attack of the Frogs - very powerful bionic foes that jump like frogs and walk on the walls - in an abandoned hotel, and finally a moderately discreet sneaking sequence in Liquid's camp. Enjoy !
Update2: All the files are finally online.

@ lebato

the game has a story.

there are many japanese games which have outdated gameplay but a brilliant story.(e.g. lost odyssey) And you know what? Just like I prefer lost odyssey over
oblivion, MGS is more preferable than Splinter Cell which has no story at all.

Oh yeah btw MGS should have dropped the exclamation marks flashing when detected. They are sooooo ridiculously stupid.

why is the AI still so slow and crappy this is just a movie masquerading as a game... i mean the gameplay is to the point a 6 year old could do it just to watch the next video

Been playin it the past couple of hours and its very impressive so far, been doin some sneaking and some shooting, the combat is very satisfying, im glad its an actual option now as for me sneaking is just very monotonous and just ends up frustrating me more than anything.

What i am disappointed in is the sheer number of cutscenes, in the 2 hrs of playing it i think the cutscenes have taken up a god 1/2 - 3/4 of the time, don't get me wrong, they are well acted and very entertaining but i paid to play it not sit and watch cutscenes, maybe they will thin out later.

i would say that is partly because Japanese devs make games with alot more cutscenes than americans...
thats lame excuse, japanese games are usually longer than western games, so who spends more time on gameplay

why do people moan so much about cut-scenes ? its the primary way the story can be conveyed across (you know.... thats thing that gives the games a sense of purpose?). I guess many people are really into mindless games. Thats Fine. But Without cut-scenes, MGS series would be like space invaders. MGS has always had good SATISFYING game-play with cut-scenes to reward you after a long fight. I dont really see how its a bad thing. Oh right! i forgot where i was again, silly me

wow this was crappy especially the street one you can see it... the AI is HORRIBLE like beyond horrible, snake walked past one that was shooting at him and the dude stayed pointed the wrong direction shooting for like a good 10 seconds... then another was looking right at snake and didnt fire even though snake unloaded a magazine at him WTF

im back to waiting for KZ2 and Gears2 to fulfil my needs for warfare for my adventure needs, this would have been impressive had it come out before COD4 but COD4's single player gameplay and graphics put every game today to shame

i completely agree. When a game does it well a cut scenes are very in place.

As far as cutscenes go this game has got them in droves but I love the way alot of western games are done 2 like, Half life 2 that at every moment of the game you control your character and things that would usually just be a cutscene are happening all the time. Its kind of amazing. But some people cant appreciate that of course.

Wow, on the Camp video, hehe. EPIC FAIL! LOL

Snoopers, don't try stealth ever. Doesn't seem to be your style at all. Have you played any other stealth games (Splinter Cell) or previous MGS games? Octocamo is your friend ;)

No, what's most disappointing is how little the gameplay has changed since MGS 1. Still the godawful AI, still very unrewarding for stealth-oriented players, still last-gen character animations (although in cutscenes are great for some reason >_>) and the Timers for alarms is so videogame-y.

But they've definitely improved the combat, cutscene blending into gameplay, character models, and situations. The locales look great, hearing helicopter in the camp area and shooting crows. Great atmosphere.

about 4 hours in and Im sort of 50/50 on it. Ive never liked an mgs game to date, but the gameplay is kinda fun here. However, in 4 hours I feel like ive played maybe 20minutes and the cutscenes are boring as hell. So what we have is a mix of pointless blabbering and some pretty nice gameplay. (minus the AI on easy, which to be honest is probably the worst ive ever seen in a game)

whoa dude, the second half of the game turns into a movie, where maybe the first half od the game is 60% gameplay and 40% cutscenes, the second half is like 80% cutscenes...

I watched the live stream for the game, and I would have to agree. Most of the cutcenes I saw were really drawn out for too long and became incredibly boring to watch and listen to. They could have easily gotten to the point much quicker and create shorter scenes. This isn't to say there weren't some great scenes in the game.

I finished my a levels today and went straight to play the game.
That was at 11 oclock and its now 8ish ( uk time!)
Graphics are phenomenal and the sound is crazy...I have the luck of playing it with full 5.1 surround sound and a 150" screen and its amazing.

The only reason I bought a ps3 is here and damn its goood

I am loving the story and cutscenes but after a while playing I feel as though this game is a movie first game second. Gameplay and ai just seems to be the weakest part of the game and by todays standards doesn't cut it at all. Most games people say the story sucks but it is a game and its meant to be played so gameplay usually rules but this is the exact opposite. I cant wait till the next cutscene comes.
