Capcom put online this animated video of Street Fighter IV, showing Ryu getting a beating from Akuma, and then...

You obviously have no past experience with anime then. It's not about realism, it's about style. As for the punching hands, the lighting or whatever it was, was supposed to represent the shear power of the punches and them canceling each other out.

Anyway, great video. Really looking forward to game when it comes out. Great time to be a beat em up fan. :)
I'm well aware what it's supposed to represent, that doesn't make it any less terrible. I have seen PLENTY of anime, and I this is nowhere near interesting.

It's absolutely retarded to critique the fighting for being unrealistic in anything Street Fighter-related as nothing about it is supposed to be realistic.
You obviously don't understand what I'm talking about.

Dude this is still an videogame, I bet the budget was tight too. The style reminds me alot of the new fist of the north star, and that sucked.

Because people you aren't impressed by this animation are obviously running out a killing baby lambs. Please, just because someone voices displeasure with something on the internet doesn't mean they're running around trying to kill children.
What are you going on about? are you yellow bus "special" or something?

Critiquing the fighting isn't nitpicking being that it's one the few things there that I can understand.
And as dramatic as punching each other fists' might be, it's extremely asinine considering you'll likely break your hand.
You critiqued the fighting by pointing out that something that happened in this Street Fighter cartoon wouldn't actually happen. Sounds pretty retarded to me.

Because CLEARLY, my only issue was about the fists connecting not the short in its entirety.

My favorites can go across all genres. Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis, Tenchi Muyo/Universe, Karas(animation wise), Jin-Roh, Cyber City, Miyazaki's films(cliche), Akira, Basilisk, Gundam(not G), Ergo Proxy, FCLC and Lupin the III.

I don't watch much anime anymore, only fist of the north star but I remember Cowboy Bebop had some awesome fights, better than all the feature length animes that were meant to be considered martial art movies.

What most of you guys fighting arent paying attention to is the very ending, sure we've known about ryu and akumas rivalry, but now we see ken jump in either to beat ryu at beating akuma or maybe to help him fight akuma (who knows) but at the very end it shos an older man sort of like the reveal in tekken when jin pachi rises from ashes.... looks like ryus old master wil be in the game as well. I cant think of why the emphasis at the end of video to show him behind a waterfall if not as intro to new character... a more serious one compared to the funny new guys IMO....

Hum... so then Gouken is supposedly alive. Now THAT would be an interesting character to play.

He's probably the only one who might actually be stronger than Akuma, being Gouken is Akuma's older brother.

For those confused as to who the heck the gray-haired large man shown fighting Akuma & carrying Ryu, he is Gouken. Akuma's older brother, and the master of Ryu & Ken. I forget who supposedly killed Gouken though...

This is also part of the reason that Akuma always wants to find Ryu so badly. As Ryu is the only one who actually came close to mastering Gouken's training, and with Gouken probably being the only real challenge Akuma has faced, naturally he wants to find Ryu as he's the only one who could potentially test Akuma's true strength.

As I said, Gouken also trained Ken but... it's fairly obvious that Ken's level of training is inferior to Ryu's, and thusly, vastly inferior to Gouken's. Akuma acknowledges his existance, but Ryu is always his real target.

I believe Akuma came about finding out about his brother Gouken training Ryu & Ken after killing Gotetsu with the Shun Goku Satsu (Instant Hell Murder), which was Gouken's & Akuma's master, and the creator or the Ansatsuken style. That move is part of what makes Akuma so dangerous. The Shun Goku Satsu is obviously a murder technique. The exact intent of its use is the murder of your opponent, which makes it something of a "forbidden" art, as it was supposed to be used only in defense of your own life. This is also why Gouken did not teach Ryu & Ken the Shun Goku Satsu, as it is fabled as the technique that ultimately led Akuma to submit to evil. As a result, Ken & Ryu cannot perform it, although, Gouken indeed can, though I doubt he'd perform it on anyone except Akuma.

From Destructoid...
As I briefly mentioned earlier, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the console versions of the title would contain additional content. Among the extras included would be more detailed story information, delivered in the form of in-game engine cut-scenes and fully produced animated prologues and endings for each character.
Apparently this was Ryu's intro from Capcom's Captivate08 showcase. And there will be anime intros and endings for each character in SF4.

All of those are pretty cliche

Anyways, this game is going to be excellent I hope. Street Fighter needs to be revamped and I think this game is going to do it for sure

I'm sorry but bleachedsmiles is right, your sentence structuring is terrible.

As for the fists and huge punches and stuff, well this is anime. Even though you may have watched a lot, perhaps you need to watch more?

That Kind of fighting is DBZ's bread and butter.

Thread aside, never played any of the street fighters but this looks cool so maybe I'll pick it up. Of course that depends on any game footage that we get to see.

Love it.... brings back tons of great times and memories of Street Fighter 1-3 and the Alpha series. Oh and the animated movie which rocked hard.

Love this series big time.
I may have out grown it a bit but it still holds a place in my mind and heart.
I'm itching to try this new addition with excitment and fear.

Ryu, Ken, Akuma and Dark Ryu, how I've missed them.
