PS3

Many (many!) people asked us when we'd put online the second part of our Killzone 2 video. Well there it is, finally! And thankfully it looks just as good as the first part. Enjoy!

great graphics, but a person new to dual analogue sticks would have no problem with that shitty AI... normal difficulty shouldnt be that easy
You do know the A.I is ALWAYS toned down for show, right? what good is the guy previewing, when he dies most of the time?

Devs always do this to show of the entire level and feel of the game.

Hey milhouse so much for no destructable enviroments eh ... ;)
Well, it's like BiA3. Some little things can be destroyed, but it's not a full destructable environment.

Well DER! what game with this scale of FPS...has ever had Full destructible environments? just isn't possible...unless you want ps2 graphics, if not worse.

What scale? It's not an open world game. It's a high linear shooter like CoD4.
I think Killzone 2 doesn't look better than HALO 3, but it's a different artstyle.

AI's not usually toned down, the difficulty is.. as in how many hits they take to kill, and how many hits you take to die, or in some cases how many enemys are on screen at once.

I cant see how showing bad AI where enemys just stand there would be good for showing off a game in order to make sure players dont die straight away. They would more likely select "god mode" than that. A.I's the tricky shit that takes the most time afterall..so the last thing a developer would do is waste it if its in there.

Lol @ still mentioning that it is pre alpha. What is it? 2 to 4 years into development now? With graphics like that (actual graphics to speak of)? Insecurity complex (not that they have much to be insecure about)?

Seriously, what is pre alpha anyway? When we mention pre alpha we mean pre production as in: brainstorming about concepts before anything else. If anything, this looks like gold. This launches in q1 next year right? What where they planning to do? Do the alpha, beta & polish rounds in 6 months while the pre alpha took them years?

The graphics looks awesome, but apart from the amazing gun details, they seem to be using that "good from far, far from good" approach on the textures like in COD4.

p.s. Gameplay wise it looks very basic and uninspiring
Whatever; But then again, Halo had innovative gameplay over every other game AND over the first two because they... added a camera?

Killzone owns. Get used to it.

well I'll admit I wasnt expecting it to look or move anywhere near that. Looks damn good, and the rag dolls are great too. Hope the AI is improved though, looked far too easy.

just because they have a level thats highly polished, doesnt mean the whole games code isnt pre-alpha. i mean, they could litterally have 2 almost complete levels like this one, but the rest could be untextured, unplayable messes. people have to realise it isnt just the level on show thats pre-alfa, or pre-beta etc, its the FULL game.

take for example all the complaints against the AI, thats likely stuff they will constantly be working on and tweaking to get right, so would it be fair to call what we've seen so far "complete"??? just cos it LOOKS amazing and shiney doesnt mean the code is all present and correct

It's a shooter.
------
That helghast assault rifle has too much damn smoke, it covers the center of the screen and can't see anything, they need to decrease it.

But I for one can't wait to get my hands on it in 2009, gonna be awesome.
Play Half Life 2, and both episodes. Thats what shooters CAN be. Look at Gears of War, also a great game.

I really like the innovation of the first person cover system. It's almost shooter overload! Killzone 2, Resistance 2, SOCOM: Confrontation, MAG
All look to be excellent AAA must-haves. And that's just the exclusives!
I want to strangle you. Not for the last bit, but for your first sentance.

Halo CE was the real innovator. And yeah, the saved films and screenies was pretty innovative for a console shooter. Especially with the community it created. Halo 3 never redifined shooters really, I mean equipment was a somewhat neat idea, all that good stuff, supprt weapons wasn't terrible common, and the saved films were brilliant. But no one claims Halo 3 was really that innovative. Halo maybe, but not 3 specifically.

Dude. Denial. the game has been in alpha longer then fucking MGS was in DEVELOPMENT practically. It all seems a bit much, i mean, alpha should last maybe a year? Its been more then that since they slapped a pre alpha sticker on the damn thing, and they stil aren't passed it? And just so you know, if a dev made a game one bit at a time, it would take forever. They do several sections at once, different teams work on different parts.

These guys have a real gift for graphics and animations, but I'm still not sure they can make a great game. Aside from the eye-candy, this looks like a poor man's COD4 (in the future!).

SCEA liscensed the Euphoria engine when it was first available for liscensing.

They have been implementing it slowly since they acquired it though. I think thats where they are trying to make toolsets for sony loyal developers (first party). Coming up with code that can run rediculous types of things off of the CPU and GPU, and then telling devs to lay a game overtop of it. Genious.
