The default Gallery Type setting, which is "Thumbnails + Popups" (in your account options), requires Javascript to popup the large images.
I suppose if you're still having problems even with Javascript enabled, you can change the Gallery Type setting to "Images 100%" or "Thumbnails" (which will use a new browser window to display the full images instead of a popup window).
That might help. (Also, those settings don't require you to have Javascript enabled, though I recommend enabling it anyway)
I don't know where else to go with this.
