Amaterasu is said to consume everything in path of its black flames. But still, seeing Sasuke's condition, it shouldn't be enough to beat a fully awakaned tailed beast. Perhaps Sasuke's attack will fail, but he guys who're watching the fight will stop Killerbee and want to capture the Hawk group alive to gather intel on Akatsuki.

But the amount of amaterasu is dependent on the user's chakra amount. Also, the flames don't actually consume anything beyond what they initally start to burn which is limited to the amount of chakra put into it (large amounts are needed just to activate it let alone expand the range) and the field of vision of the user (ie. if the user's eyelids are closed no flames come or he's field of view is somehow depressed, the flames can only go where the user is looking). The field of vision is how Sasuke survived Itachi's amaterasu. The flames do burn for 7 days, are as hot as the sun, and are impossible to put out. That's the true power of the jutsu. We have yet to see a small amount of amaterasu spread into a large fire.

Given that Itachi was severly weakened when he use amaterasu to escape the mountain toad throat that Jiraiya used and that Sasuke doesn't have as much chakra or control over his mangekyo as Itachi AND that he is really beat (he has almost died TWICE) up to this point, this amaterasu is either:
A) will be a large and flashy display but have no real power behind it. It will mainly be a diversionary tatic allowing Hawk to run away like the pansies they are.
B) a real attack that will most likely fissel out before it becomes large enough to become an annoyance, not dangerous, to Killerbee. Sasuke will be completly out of juice with nobody there to bail his sorry butt out.

I don't think that 2 random looking ninjas are going to stop a beast form Killerbee by saying "Bad Killerbee! BAD! Now stop this transformation and go to your room!" with Killerbee complying and then going to his room to write "dark poetry" and whine with Sasuke. I could be wrong and those 2 have some sort of abalityto repress beast transformations like the 1st Hokage.

I did just think of something. What if Itachi didn't just give Sasuke his mangekyo. What if he also passed on susanoo along with the awesome shield and sword? If that was another gift Itachi passed on then Sasuke's power went up a lot and he has a chance to beat Killerbee. A slim chance and still a bit dues ex machina but atleast it would make more sense than amaterasu.

WOW! It looks like amatersu DID take Killerbee down in 1 fell swoop. ...... That was really stupid, lame, and a total cop-out. What a total let down for every part of that fight except for chapter 414 when it looked like Sasuke WAS going to lose. It's sad that Naruto doing nothing but Toad statues is more exciting than a fight with a tailed beast.

We need more fights where the non-main character wins. That's what made the Jayira v Pain fight so memorable.

Also, I officially call BS and award amatersu the "super saiyan deus ex machina" award. I think that this 1 act of taking down a fully transformed and focused 8 Tailed Beast, and the more tails the more powerful, makes amatersu the best jutsu now and forever. The 9 tails is said to be able to level entire mountains with a flick of 1 of its tails. The 8 tails can't be that much underpowered compared to the 9 tails. Let's say that the 8 tails is only 75% as powerful as the 9 tails. Given that Killerbee was VASTLY superior in his ability to draw upon and focus the power of the 8 tails than Naruto with his 9 tails, and Naruto has done some crazy $*** with the 9 tails power, Killerbee should have just destroyed the Hawk group. If this last chapter is how amatersu works then here are all the battles Sasuke can have:
Sasuke v Pain. Sasuke shoots amatersu and wins. BAM!
Sasuke v 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th Hokage/All of them at once. Sasuke shoots amatersu and wins. BAM!
Sasuke v Entire Leaf Village. Sasuke shoots amatersu and wins. Double BAM!
Sasuke v Naruto. Sasuke shoots amatersu and wins. Ultra BAM!
Sasuke v Every Ninja in the Narutoverse except Marada at the same time. Sasuke shoots amatersu and wins. DBZ Super Saiyan BAM!

Why didn't Itachi just flood the hall with amatersu when he met Jiraiya? Apparently you can stop amatersu if you just try hard enough so there shouldn't have been any danger to Sasuke or Naruto. Jiraiya can't seal amatersu and protect Sasuke & Naruto at the same time, since he wouldn't have known that amatersu can be stopped by DBZ logic (i.e. just try harder), so Jiraiya could have been taken down. Or at the very least, would have given Kiasame a chance to get a free killer blow on Jiraiya if somehow he could seal amatersu that fast.

We ALREADY KNEW that amatersu could be stopped by another mangekyo sharingan. Marada already did it when he first met Sasuke. It made sense then that Marada could do that since he was the original, and by all accounts best, user or the sharingan. Sasuke gets it right on the first try. WTF! I guess Sasuke conforms to the other DBZ rule of if you are close to death and are made healthy again, you become MUCH MORE STRONGER!

Atleast we have more of Naruto next week and know that the mixed charka technique will be mastered and used. To bad it won't ever be as good as amatersu though.

So are they attempting to say that Amaterasu is more powerful than the second most powerful bijuu who is pushing out 100% of his power? So Amaterasu could also own Naruto with all 9 tails out just as easily?

It was a major major copout.

It wouldn't have worked against Jiraiya why? Because Jiraiya wouldn't have been hit by it and then Itachi would be completely drained of his chakra and be in no position to challenge someone of Jiraiya's amazing power and skill.

Even IF Jiraiya was able to seal amaterasu as fast as Itachi was able to form it, he still would have been open to attack while sealing. Almost every seal that we've seen has required two hands to do. Let's say that Jiraiya was so awesome that he could seal amaterasu as fast as Itachi could form it with just 1 hand. That's a pretty incredible feat in itself. That would have occupied Jirayia in a fixed position, sealing has always required that the sealer not be moving in the manga, and have just 1 hand free. Kisame, who has more ninja chakra than any other Akatsuki, would certaintly be able to get a free smack in.

All of this is based on the latest power of amatersu and the fact that just trying can make it go out. This BS copout has affected continunity at very integral parts of the story. Am I now to believe that Sasuke can control the mangekyo sharingan better than Itachi after a few days, a few weeks MAX, of having it and THAT is why Itachi didn't just amatersu every opponent that got in his way.

He doesn't need to seal Amaterasu to beat Itachi. Itachi is extremely good, but simply not on Jiraiya's level.

Jiraiya is smarter than to put himself in a vulnerable position of attempting to seal such a technique in the middle of a fight.

In a single move, Itachi and Kisame were both forced to run for their lives and Itachi was drained of all his chakra. This is all without Jiraiya having gone into his hermit mode. There is no way Kisame, at his level, even with all that chakra, could lay a hand on Jiraiya. You saw all it took for Pain to land an attack on Jiraiya and there is no way Kisame is on Pain's level. Kisame said it himself, maybe Itachi might be able to take Jiraiya, but he surely could not. Then Itachi went ahead and made sure that Kisame should suffer no illusions. Even with more members of Akatsuki, a fight with Jiraiya would still likely end up in their deaths.

Without Pain's secret, he would've lost that fight to Jiraiya, but even so, none of those six bodies was the true heir of Rikudou. Neither of those six were Nagato or whoever Pain's true identity is so it is likely that Jiraiya still hadn't seen the true power he possesses. Itachi can't be downplayed because he has some serious skill, but the level of respect that Itachi possessed for Jiraiya should say it all really.

All true Op but Itachi has a move that can take down an 8 tailed beast at full power. J-man was awesome but no where close to a transformed Killerbee. If Sasuke, who JUST learned how to use amaterasu, can take down a fulle transformed Killerbee then Itachi should be able to take down a non-sage mode J-man that was also protecting Naruto and Sasuke at the time.

What about when Itachi went up against all of those junin. Why didn't Itachi just burn those guys down? Why didn't itach use the tailed beast killer move againt anybody who stood against him?

One thing we should keep in mind is that having a massive amount of chakra doesn't always mean you're the most powerful or even the most skilled or even that you are ensured to win a battle. Every single time an Akatsuki member has gone up against a Jinchuuruki they have had to contend with incredible amounts of chakra far beyond what they have themselves, but yet still found a way to win. We know they don't all have Amaterasu so they found a way to win and in most cases they didn't look quite so worse for the wear when they were done either.

On top of that, to even be a sage in the first place, a ninja requires a massive amount of Chakra which Jiraiya clearly must have had. Factor in the ability to draw on nature's energy and you have someone who should be very qualified in the raw power department to turn anyone's head. Factor in Jiraiya's skill and knowledge and the 8 tails is in some serious trouble.

I do suspect that Sasuke may have went up against quite possibly the most skilled Jinchuuruki of the pack, but the fact that all of akatsuki had contended with incredibly large reserves of chakra doesn't change even if it wasn't as high as what the 8 tail possessed. Jiraiya is in a class of his own. He would most definitely be able to take on the 8 tail, even if the 8 tail was transformed the way he was against Sasuke. I think this would be true even if Jiraiya wasn't using sage mode. Pain was a very special case for Jiraiya and were it not for the secret that Pain possesses, Jiraiya would have won as Pain himself admitted.

The 8 tails would've been in some serious problems going up against someone like Pain and likely wouldn't have been able to show up someone like him the way he did to Sasuke and the rest of his team. I doubt Pain would've been pressed anywhere near as hard. it would simply be Pain having his way. Sasuke's strong, but if there was anything we learned it's that he's still nowhere on Itachi's true skill level because Itachi let him win. With that said, Itachi is no joke especially if Madara respected him enough to stay away from Konoha while he was still drawing breath. Itachi though had a massive amount of respect for Jiraiya's power and went through the trouble of trying to distract Jiraiya away from Naruto with a female. He really wanted to avoid a confrontation with him at all costs and he was smart enough to run from Jiraiya after he used a single move that instantly put Itachi and Kisame at a disadvantage. That's what I call smart. If Itachi said that the likelihood of their deaths wouldn't change going up against Jiraiya even with more akatsuki members, that should really close the deal right there. That doesn't strike me as the kind of thing Itachi wouldn't be dead serious about.

The fact that Itachi used such a dangerous technique as Amaterasu to escape means he was in serious trouble against Jiraiya right then and had to escape. If he stayed to fight, his chakra would be getting rapidly drained. That was also one of the effects of that single technique jiraiya used. Itachi's most powerful techniques require serious chakra. Jiraiya really did turn all the advantages in his favor in one move and forced a retreat when Itachi was ready and willing to actually take him on. To stand a fight would've been suicide because one fire and miss of the amaterasu then and Itachi would've been in serious trouble against a Jiraiya who could, if he wished to go hermit mode and start pulling on natural energy to already compound his massive chakra reserve. Since Itachi could fire Amaterasu more than once in Sasuke fight, but back when he confronted jiraiya he was drained immediately after one shot must be an example of just how fast jiraiya's chakra drain technique was working.

If I recall, I think Jiraiya even used the frog stomach technique to pull Sasuke to protection away from the action since he was unconscious. So Sasuke was already safe and so only Naruto was left to protect.

Don't forget, Jiraiya's arsenal of techniques is truly incredible. The guy can place multiple people, including himself, inside the body of a frog and in an instant make that frog disappear or go completely undetected. What would've stopped Jiraiya from placing both Sasuke and Naruto inside a frog and making the frog go poof?

If Sasuke's team went up against Jiraiya, they would've found themselves in a far more dire situation than what they were in against the 8 tails and Sasuke would've never gotten the opportunity to do to Jiraiya what he managed to do to the 8 tails and even if Sasuke did get the opportunity to shoot off that Amaterasu it would have never hit someone of Jiraiya's ability. Even without Madara's crazy skill to allow things to go through himself, it's very unlikely that he would be hit by an Amaterasu in combat either and the same would hold true for a number of other shinobi and will surely hold true in the future when Sasuke does attempt to fire off an Amaterasu against someone.

Itachi clearly didn't want to kill Sasuke for real, but if Sasuke can avoid the Amaterasu, then I'm pretty sure Jiraiya could do it as well. It's a very powerful technique, but clearly won't be the kind of technique that can be spammed with reckless abandon for instant win against any enemy they go up against.

The 8 tails was reckless and paid for it. I feel that he might not have been caught by Amaterasu had he not gone into that oversized transformation mode of his. He was doing totally fine.

Itachi didn't use Amaterasu much because it put a serious drain on his chakra (he clearly got better by time of sasuke fight though) and he was also fighting near blind and he was dying of a disease at the same time.

Man I love how simple his sage mode looks. It adds that little bit of something special to make his character look even more badass without doing much of anything too drastic to his character design. He has managed to do it better than Jiraiya did.

Well the Rasenshuriken was never full completed, but I suspect that once it's fully mastered it may even develop into a much more powerful technique than anyone of us could have imagined. Kakashi did say it could end up possibly being on a level that is beyond an S-class level technique and I suspect it will definitely be deemed as such.

I like the interesting explanation on what it is Pain might have done to accomplish what it is he's doing. I like the thought of it possibly being the most highly complex genjutsu in the naruto universe thus far. A genjutsu shield sounds cool and the examinations of the body really serve to make Pain seem like a more awesome character overall. Very happy to see Pain back in the mix and kicking ass again. Those Shinobi never knew what hit em.

Naruto is really getting better. I can't wait to see how much more powerful and faster he has gotten. Looking forward to see what kind of new techniques pa teaches him. As I think about it, the Scroll Frog hasn't been put into the mix yet so Naruto's power increase is basically far from over. I wouldn't be surprised if the key to mastering the combination of the rasengan with nature manipulation is the power that resides inside the 9 tails.

9 tails + massive chakra reserve + sage mode + rasenshuriken + hermit ninjutsu + Naruto's never give up attitude + whatever it was that Itachi gave Naruto, will be a deadly combination.

I KNEW IT! This BS that Sasuke 1-hit-KO'ed Killerbee finally sunk in with Kishimoto. I so hope this is true and that Sasuke feels like a total dumb $$$. That junk about him thinking that he could take down Khona now that he can cast amaterasu and snuff it out at will was so stupid. Sasuke has actually lagged behind a lot of characters in strength now. He just needs to realize that being a crybaby isn't going to work. Killerbee should just backhand Sasuke to death ala Superboy Prime.

I do like that Pain has shown up. I wonder if anyone can fight Pain yet. Khona has an idea of what Pain's secret is but they seem a bit far from understanding let alone fighting it. Maybe Shikamaru can think of something that can at least delay Pain for Khona to think of something. It would fit in with his "ninja way" to be the sacrificed knight for the village.

I REALLY want to see Khona throw their best at Pain in a huge gauntlet that Pain just wins one after another. Building tension by showing that the Khona best are trying to figure out a way to best Pain's secret. I want it to be so that we cheer for Pain to win just so the story can go on. The best way to describe it would be sort of like the DBZ Cell Games/Bleach Ichigo Soul Society arc. In both cases you wanted the bad guy to win just so that the next battle would have to try and top the last. The byakugan master Neji. The master strategist Shikamaru. The insane physical power Rock Lee & Sakura. Throw in a Guy and Kakashi team up along with Tsunade fighting to protect the village. Heck, put a call out to the Sand Village for some help. Khona seems to have been on good terms with them ever since Gaara was saved. I want nothing short of total war in Khona with maybe the heroic death of Shikamaru.

I suspect that we will find that Tsunade was the most powerful of the Sannin.

Her knowledge of healing must mean she also has some very scary knowledge as to how best to inflict harm on her opponents. I think it won't take her very long to figure out what is so special about Pain.

Tsunade can most definitely fight even with Pain. Shikamaru isn't dying anytime soon. His new calling in life is to live long enough to become the master of and train Kurenai and Atsuma's as yet unborn son. He will be like a father or older brother figure to Atsuma's son. So Shikamaru won't die anytime soon.

Pain is going to kick some serious ass. I just can't wait to see more of what is taking place.

That may be Shikamaru's plan but the 4th's plan was to train Naruto I bet. Extreme circumstances call for extreme mesaures. If Shikamaru thinks that sacraficing himself will buy the village enough time to beat Pain, I belive that Shikamaru wouldn't think twice about the sacrafice.

I also don't think Tsunade was the most powerful Sannin. The 3rd seemed to hold Big-O in very high regard which makes me think that Big-O was actually the most powerful. Big-O was able to hold off Jarayia and Tsunade at the same time. I'll give that Tsunade wasn't really fighting until the end but Big-O couldn't use his arms to do jutsu. I think those two cancel eachother out and tip the scales in favor of a healthy Big-O being the most powerful.

I think Tsunade will be the one that can last the longest against Pain because of her healing abilities. Also, i wouldn't be surprised if she can do some sort of charka sucking attack. Sort of like....Shark Skin or whatever that blade that Kisame uses is called. That ability combined with her regen and dodgeing ability would allow her to fight forever.

Either way, I hope that we get some major destruction and ass whipping this Friday in Naruto.

I don't think Jiraiya ever used Sage Mode against Orochimaru.

The third held Orochimaru in high regard, but he also held Jiraiya and Tsunade in high regard. Jiraiya once mentioned how during the great ninja wars, Tsunade went around making it look effortless and too easy.

The third would've likely made Jiraiya the 5th if Jiraiya had made him aware that he was back in Konoha and, on top of that, Jiraiya wasn't the type to want the role of Hokage even if the third wanted to give it to him because he doesn't like all that much responsibility and his destiny technically wouldn't allow for it.

It was Jiraiya's destiny to travel around writing those books of his I think and he also had to always be on the search for the destined child.

Remember also that Tsunade had left the village and hadn't been seen for a very long time so it's probably fair to say that Oro was the only potential candidate next to the 4th that could have been named the 4th because Jiraiya wasn't interested.

We know, based on the 3rd originally thinking that oro would be a good choice were it not for his love of forbidden jutsu, that the most powerful isn't always the first choice. The 4th was more powerful than Orochimaru, but Oro apparently received first consideration.

When Oro was dealing with Tsunade and Jiraiya, remember Tsunade had drugged Jiraiya so his power wasn't at the level it was suppose to be. Remember Tsunade had her fear of blood so it handicapped her severely and put her in a bad way. Without all of that punishment she took, Kabuto and Oro would've likely ended up dead.

I'm betting the farm that Tsunade is the most powerful of the Sannin.

I still disagree. Big-O was the 3rd's favorite student which is why the 3rd never dealt with Big-O until he directly threatened Khona. I agree that the 3rd held all of the Sannin in high regard but Big-O was a threat and a missing-nin and should have been hunted down. I think that the 3rd never gave the order to destroy Big-O because he still hoped that his best student would come around. Sort of like hoping that his best student wasn't also his worst mistake. I'm assuming that being the 3rds favorite meant that Big-O showed the most promise as a ninja jutsu master. I concede that being the best at jutsu or having the most chakra doesn't automatically make you the strongest but you have to say that Big-O held his own against Jiraiya and Tsunade for a bit at the same time.

Jiraiya was drugged and Tsunade was crazy for a bit but at the end of the fight, Jiraiya was feeling ~80% and Tsunade had overcome her fear and was really fighting. Big-O had no arms and thus no jutsu (his main attack style) and even needed Kabuto to help summon....the snake for Big-O. Tsunade did eventually tip the scales against Big-O but he still held his own for a short while. Also, Big-O's body was probably past its prime at that point and its strength was fading after the fight with the 3rd.

In the end I think we're splitting hairs and that the actual power difference is negligible.

Now that I think about it, Guy has the ability to be the strongest. The 8th gate would allow him to surpass all living ninja in power. He would die afterwards but would take the other guy down first.

So awesome that the 8 tail said exactly what I was thinking. The 8 tail had the upperhand so there was no reason for him to transform in the first place. It was all a carefully executed plan lol. Just too awesome.

I would love to see the 8 tail meet naruto, which seems like a guarantee now, and help Naruto form a similar type of bond with the 9 tails as he has with the 8 tails. The 8 tail reminds me of Jiraiya in terms of skill and personality. I can see him becoming a major positive influence for Naruto and Naruto not reacting particularly well in the event that after them forming strong a bond and friendship, the 8 tail gets killed.
