They made it clear that Shia will not become Indian Jones Jr. At least I hope that's what they were saying.

It's been a while since I've seen Temple of Doom, but I'm gonna have to say that Temple of Doom is better, at least until I see it again.

They did? I'm pretty sure they were driving the exact opposite point home.. Lucas has even suggested as much in interviews. Ford falls back into Sean Connery's roll, Shia LeTarzan takes the lead.

Definitely not.

That's what I thought, but it's been a while since I've seen ToD. I seem to remember watching and thinking that it had a different tone than 1 and 3, but I don't remember ever being too insulted by it or seeing too much that wasn't competently done.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull lacked the tone AND it was insulting AND a lot of it simply failed. I found that even awesome action scenes suffered due to over-use of CG and the more-than-occasional bad idea thrown in.

I'm pretty sure Spielberg and Lucas will pass away before they can make another Indiana Jones

Before they can or before they will ever want to? They could make one in the next few years if they wanted; it's not a matter of them being able to or not.

Ahhhh...lol...I read "pass" as in "die," not "decide against."

Or you could have read it as, they will die before they will want to again or they will die before they can get the chance to since both have ridiculous schedules

Lucas has already been talking about it--and he doesn't really need Spielberg to direct. He could ruin another Indiana Jones movie all by his lonesome self.

"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

"And it's not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he's 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it's not like he's an old man. He's incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me.
I wasn't making this stuff up.

Who really cares though? It's not like a terrible spin-off would even be acknowledged by fans. If it's good then great, if not it'll fade away.

Even T3 has problems being viewed as an actual part of the Terminator franchise, and let's not even get started on "Terminator Salvation" - almost doomed to embarass everyone involved.

It does matter, because these films do exist. They're hard to just ignore, and generally speaking they taint the overall quality of the franchise and peoples memories of the original content that they loved. Lucas is a hack. But then again that's been perfectly apparent in every story that he's tried to tell in the last, what.. 20 years?

I agree with most of that Grift. But I walked in with a lower set of expectations and I was still let down. It has to be one of the worse paced movies I've ever seen. And it was just over the top, and silly. Not clever or thrilling.

A fridge surviving a nuclear blast? COME ON! ALIENS?! THE HELL?!

Indiana Jones is STILL a trilogy in my book. On the plus side, the visual effects were great. Everything else I would leave.
Not to mention the fact that the story takes place in 1957 and that according to them Staline was still alive... How long does it take to check that he died in 1953 ? Come on...

Did they actually say he was still alive? Or did they just say they were carrying out things for him, aka in his name

Well at first I thought they didn't but at some point what they said made it pretty clear he was. That's what bothered me. I can't remember exactly what is said but there really is very little doubt for me. :(

What a catastrophe! watched the movie finally last night and let me tell you - I was HUGELY DISAPPOINTED! it all started with the HUGELY RIDICULOUS Atomic bomb scene, at that point I would have preffered to put my finger through my eyes and reach out for my brain and endure that pain other than watch that scene - It was the tip of the iceberg! I mean seriously ??? houses get blown off but a fridge survives a nuclear blast!

add to that the whole Alien thingy and a couple of other ridiculous scenes like falling three times from waterfalls and not having a scratch, that ridiculous monkey swinging scene, that huge tree branch which so conveniently happens to lend a hand to the car land from a jump .... SERIOUSLY WTF WTF WTF!!!!

Huge disappointment. the action scene I loved the most is the jungle car chase.
