I don't really like doing this sort of thing, but any exposure and criticism is helpful. We have one song recorded in fairly decent quality(but hasn't really been mixed properly) and will have more up soon. The others are just songs recorded acoustically on a shitty mic. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

good stuff. I'm a big electronica fan so Finger Tips was a nice listen.

I'm not sure I like the voice in the first song unfortunately, and I mean no disrespect to the singer there.

What part do you play?

I've joined the band recently(long time friends) to play bass for them. I think he is a great singer but we recorded in our drummers attic with a crappy mic. If you don't like his voice then that is fair enough.

Finger tips is an awesome song. We are in the process of turning that into an actual song.

no no no no. I don't like the voice in that song.
I'm listening to Miasma right now and it's fucking great.

...and just now the last track is coming up.

You guys have some serious good stuff there. I'd like more of it.
Got another website we can visit?

Oh yeah, if you ever get a final of Finger Tips out there, I'd like to purchase a single.
So let us know. Try to make it longer though :D

This is basically all the music we have available for listening to just now. We have about 3 other songs which have been recorded and just need mixed. Hopefully we will have fingertips recorded soon. The problem with that track is trying to keep the electronic sound of it with guitars an shit. Thanks for the feedback man.

'Blankets' is my favourite song of yours, followed by 'A Truth', but I think that's about preference of sound as opposed to quality. But yeah, you've got some good songs there - shame about some of the recording quality, but what can ya do?

I tried searching the dictionary for a better word, but I guess this one will do. PATHETIC.

I'm JOKING man!

I think it's really good, I also like electronic music (maybe I should upload the tunes I've created on my keyboard/workstation), so naturally Finger Tips was my favorite.

Now, I didn't find anything wrong with the vocals, I think he's pretty good. Holme's Castle wasn't my thing though, like not much happened. The mastered song (Blankets) sounded very good though, so you've got it.

Hey man, that's really good actually. I liked the song in the video on your Myspace. Very good tunes and excellent singing as well.

Arrangement needs some work imo, but that's just minor nitpicking. Good luck!

Before it was just a recording done on a phone or something crap like that. It only had piano and vocals as well I think. But yeah, this is like a master. Hopefully get another track recorded over the christmas holiday.

Hi there `TheBeagle`. Your group is sounding cool my friend!! The track `Blankets` has a really nice sound to it and the recordings are generally really good quality dude. To be honest, I`m also the part of a band, but i`ll inform you when we`ve got some `proper` material to show off. At the moment, we`re starting to record the bass, but with a sexy current setup and an old Trace Elliot to choose from, (plus numerous mics such as our famous `Egg` lol), simply getting the `right` sound is proving to be somewhat difficult initially.

When we recorded our guitars, it took us approximately two sessions to choose where to best place it. Do we use the bottom-left speaker? or perhaps the top right one? do we use the Shure mic? or go for a different model/make? should the mic be angled in or out or upwards or downwards I ask? man, it really has been a long long road for us, but the wait WILL be worth it.

We`re looking at investing in a sexy Neuman TLM109 vocal mic, but the cost shot up to over £800 recently, so we`ll buy it some time in the new year. Anyways, this thread needs to stay open, as music needs love and attention, so lets give it some!! Keep up the good work my friend, and we`ll all just have to keep plodding along I suppose.

Not a problem mate. I did mention that I`m part of a band. That statement is true, but I don`t actually play anything just yet. I have been working with my friends for over 10 years now and we have been in our current group for just over 5 years. I have been the back-bone of the group, providing a practice/rehearsal room for free for all this time. I am going to continue my previous work as a sampling artist within the group once we`ve ironed out just what exactly needs sampling.

At the moment, we have an epic track which includes an orchestral score in it, so things such as this is my area really. If it ever comes down to us doing anything `serious` with a major label, then I`ll be up for doing anything really, but have my sights pinned on becoming the bands personal rodie. At the end of the day, with gigs branching out to all corners of the UK, it`s nice to know that you have got somebody who values your gear as much as I do and all the money in the world couldn`t buy what I give to the band............trust!

All in all, it`s looking good now. We`ve got 3 gigs lined up for January and then we`ll be on the final push to record the bass lines, vocs and to then polish it off with the compin-up, which will take roughly 3-4 months I suppose.

I have got a good contact with K.K.Downing from Judas Priest, and after talking to him last year, he told me to bring the album over to his place and to have a cuppa tea with him whilst he listened to it rofl. Us `Black Country` lot usually stick together, so I`m hoping that his experience will grant us a clearer path into something much larger than what we currently have at this moment in time.

Like I said at the start, me and my friends all met up over 10 years ago now, and it`s all lead us to this point in time. This album IS the` one` for us, so fingers crossed and lets see what 2010 brings.

I`ll kep ya posted though dude.

:0)

"truth" has got a bit of a biffy sound in there, which i like a lot, but it also sounds a little bit fightstar every now and then which i'm not too keen on. great overall tho tbh. really like it, good sound quality as well for a "no name" band.

my fave by far is blankets, really good mellow sound to it. defo one i'd buy.

EDIT : feathered feet sounds a LOT like a slowed down version of coheed and cambria's "welcome home", maybe it's just me.

Hey man! You guys actually have decent sound for recording in your attic. I enjoyed your stuff, too. Keep us updated for anymore additions.
@ Fr0sty- Whatever you do, do NOT record your guitars through PODs. Never. Anyway, about the mic stuff- be very careful what you choose, especially for your singer. If you can test it with your set up before you buy, that would be best. I know, 'cuz in my band, I use a regular SURE even though we have a BETA, because it pics up my voice different. Also, the type of mic is important (be it cardioid or condenser). I know we don't go anywhere near a condenser for me. In that regard, more expensive isn't necessarily better.

For you Band dudes- I'm curious how you are handling your exposure. Are you guys purely original, or do you do covers. We do covers to build our fan base first, and because in Colorado Springs you can get paying Gigs. We plan on introducing our original stuff at shows so we can get max exposure. We're actually pretty big here in the 'Springs, and get paying Gigs several times a month. Hopefully we'll get a real website going soon( we have some weak MYSPACE and Facebook pages).

Anyway, Good Luck The Beagle. Maybe one day we will all achieve some success...

Yeah, when my friends wrote that tune I mentioned to them that it reminded me of a part in that song. Thanks for the comments but Fightstar? I really don't hear it haha. We certainly ain't emo.
