2006-11-17 07:51:06 Rainbow Six Vegas - Reviews Are Coming In Just checked out the IGN review and well, I'll post their closing comments, you can read the full review yourself. Closing Comments Rainbow Six: Vegas returns to form as an excellent tactical shooter, but is much more accessible for the average shooter fan with streamlined controls and a simple health system. The sprawling levels like the glowing Fremont Street or the Hoover Dam open up Rainbow like it's never been before, and the result is a balanced shooter that is as much close-quarter combat as long-range head shots. The new gameplay mechanics, notably the intuitive cover system and inverted rappelling, are simply outstanding. While the visuals are solid, the textures and colors are muted and appear washed out. The sound, on the other hand, fuses a pulsing anti-terrorist soundtrack with gritty dialogue -- "I will f***ing shoot you!" -- and even some humor -- "Hey man, you play videogames?" The multiplayer options feature huge, well-designed maps, a variety of modes and four-player co-op. In total, Rainbow Six: Vegas is the best first-person shooter on the Xbox 360. Viva Las Vegas indeed. ![]() I guess this is going to be the 2nd game this year that I pick up on day of release. Honestly, after playing the demo, it's been kind of a nobrainer

2006-11-17 10:44:31 In reply to alimokrane (2006-11-17 10:35:52) Posted by alimokrane I absolutely agree. the cover system does not belong in Rainbow six. it should stay as it was. I found quite annoying to be honest in the R6V Demo. They are making Rainbow six way too similar to ghost recon in my opinion. |

2006-11-17 11:56:31 Actually I felt the cover system in the R6Vegas demo was very well executed and one of the true highlights of the new game. It and the other newly introduced gameplay mechanics are certainly breathing new life back into a franchise that was at one point choking on its own bile. |

2006-11-17 14:01:25 Posted by GriftFX To me, it's just an indoors GRAW with an FPS view when you're not in cover. I'm probably a minority of some sort, but I found GRAW to be awesome in every way except when you were actually trying to play it. Stupid squadmates made it impossible to play it the way it was obviously intended, and at every turn there was just a struggle to finish the level to see if the next one was more fun, as opposed to being excited at all. To me, RSV certainly does blur the line between the two franchises, but it gets one critical thing right - it's a blast to play, and that generally makes me forgive a lot of things. --- |

2006-11-18 22:21:21 In reply to rustykaks (2006-11-18 14:49:03) Posted by rustykaks halo is more of a run and gun though....id like it to stay that way...i think the cover system in games is designed for more slow oaced games(GOW,R6,GR) i do not want to play a slow paced halo game...never If you want the ability to take better cover, ask for the ability to lean and go prone. Cover would kill my interest in Halo...like it did for R6. Want to play the campaign still--but If I wanted to go camping I'd hit the woods up with a tent and a fire to keep warm, not xbox live. |

2006-11-18 23:42:56 nice review from will tuttle (lol, his name reminds me on that guy in Brazil) If you're a fan of the Rainbow Six series (or even if you're not), Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas is one of the must-have games on the Xbox 360. The single-player campaign is far better than any the franchise has offered, and the ability to go at it with your buddies over Xbox Live is a great addition. However, it's the game's multiplayer mode that will keep us playing Vegas for years to come. This isn't just the multiplayer game of the year, it may actually be the best multiplayer game in the whole Xbox 360 library. Yes, the Rainbow Six team has made a triumphant return, somehow managing to actually exceed our lofty expectations. Graphics: 9.5; Everything looks great, although there are a few framerate issues here and there. --- |

2006-11-18 23:44:17 Great reviews from IGN and TeamXbox. Best tactical FPS on the market? New, innovative controls every FPS should have? Good SP and GREAT MP? 4 player coop? --- |

2006-11-19 00:08:26 I dont like the new R6(from the demo). I think they bombed it. I prefer the old rainbow six 3 on the xbox. This game has a counter strike feeling to it with counter stike like graphics. Which is bad! |
