2006-12-20 15:43:32 New Famitsu rates Prey on Xbox360 scoring 33/40 Today some new ratings from the newest edition of the famous Japanese gamesmagazine Famitsu. Most remarkable is the review of Prey, that has been in stores for some time in U.S. and Europe now, but is new in Japan. --- |

2006-12-20 16:49:49 Prey better then Armored Core for the PS3? Almost every 360 game lately gets higher score then PS3 games and they still don't buy the damn console? To answer your question dcdelgado: Nope |

2006-12-20 23:50:13 (Famitsu always reviews with 4 different people) Do you still understand the people over there? And is probably better than having just one persons opinion. --- |

What good is taking an average of an arbitrary number anyway, especially when the source winds up being four very poorly written reviews. |

2006-12-21 00:17:37 Well that's something different, i don't see a problem with having 4 people review a product as i feel i would get a better idea of what people (in this case Japanese people) think. both relatively terrible when compared to a good review Everything is subjective. --- |

2006-12-21 00:21:29 Dissing Famitsu is not dissing the Japanese people. It's just speaking the truth about a crappy videogame magazine :) |

2006-12-21 00:28:39 Do you still understand the people over there? it is quite funny and disturbing, especially thier education system. I don't personally believe that Famitsu is any more an indication of what the Japanese people are thinking than EGM is an indication of what I'm thinking... Doesn't mean i have to agree with it, nor does it have an impact on what i think. I don't see why people have such a problem with Famitsu, as i said it's not writen with westerners in mind. --- |

As for the more ignorant comments in this thread, well, I'll keep an eye on that. Everyone knows the best Japanese blog targeted towards a western audience is MasaMania.com though--it's moral entertainment :) |

2006-12-21 00:48:25 Translations will do just fine, you can tell if something has very little valid information about a product based on a crappy auto-translation, even..and when you have someone who DOES know the language around, it's not that difficult to get a quality translation out of them. They can translate novels, but not reviews? |

2006-12-21 02:56:24 In reply to GriftGFX (2006-12-21 00:05:05) Posted by GriftGFX After reading some of the body text, Famitsu's group reviews are no better (and sometimes much worse) than EGM's--and they're both relatively terrible when compared to a good review. I'd rather take on persons opinion, if it's free of bias and well written. I give 1up shit for writing three paragraph reviews, but it's better than the crap their parent publication does. What good is taking an average of an arbitrary number anyway, especially when the source winds up being four very poorly written reviews. --- |

2006-12-22 06:45:16 In reply to Sath (2006-12-20 18:20:38) Posted by Sath Maybe you should go and live their for couple of months to get into their understanding method and come back and tell us about it. What do you think? =P C'mon you know you want to. I think it will take a very long time for Western games (or a Western console) to succeed in Japan, if ever.. There are just so many Japanse gamedevelopers that know much better how to make games the Japanese like, or better said are used to like.. --- |
