Well it is out at last, so far its been great, bit darker than usual but i like it, just killed the firebraid thingy....

so anyone else got it today ?

Nah i got it over a year ago when it first came out in Japan and then got the US version.

It's a great game and very well done, I have almost completed it, but as per usual i have lost interest in playing it :S

The Summon spells in thiis game are mind blowingly good, can't wait to see what FF13 does on the PS3.

yeah the last FF i played was FFX (LuLu FTW!)
That's pretty much when i left the world of playstation.

Im coming back and need to catch up on games like God of War etc...

Cant wait for FFXIII though.

Have not got to summons yet, just got out that mine, i LOVE the voice acting and the whole dark/gritty style to it, the characters seem to be ripped right out of lord of the rings, love it, this is pure quality, and as for the graphics and animation on the faces ...wow, su-fucking-perb

You guys need to get to the part where the main character learns a revelation about one of the other characters that makes the whole story shift direction.

Yea, I totally pulled that one out my arse. I'm still in some castle dungeon fighting giant spiders with some guy who was trapped in a cage.

Caved in today amd bought the game. Will be here tuesday. I wanted to finish FFx and FFX2 before I get it but Man people are raving about it everywhere so I gave up ;)

Well i kind of liked FF X-2 , although it's by far the most corny, cheesy RPG ever. (so much so that it actually embarresses you at times)

One thing i will say for it, is there is so much optional stuff to do, side quest, monster hunts, and optional summons to find that it can easily last over 100 hours.

This game took forever to make but it has also had a lot of time to be fine tuned, one of the most polished games i have ever played.

I would have prefered it to have been turn based however, that would have been the icing on the cake.

Well it's not really turn based as you don't control the other characters (unless you are constantly switching between them, which is just a hassle), it's ATB based with real time movement.

It's real time in the fact that you can have 10 enemies all at once hammering the hell out of you also :P

I guess it's semi real time with a attack/cast timer.

You can start to cast one spell and whilst casting it cancel or change your mind and start to cast a new spell over the top of it, which isn't really turn based. (you can flee whenever you feel like it also)

But what i meant was i would have prefered it to be standard (FF7-FF10) turn based.

Question, the special moves (cant rem what they are called) bt what is the shuffle about ? if you press R2 ?? bugging the shit out of me, i have no idea what the hell is going on :D

Quickenings yea they are a pain in the ass and i rarely use them, just pretty graphical effects.

Basically each character can hold up to 3 quickenings if all characters have 3 each then you don't need to shuffle (I think !!), if you have 1 or 2 each then you have to shuffle through them before the time expires to chain attacks

After 3 chains you get a special attack thingy at the end depending on which quickenings you chained together.

It really annoys me how the quickenings and summons use your entire Mana Pool and you can't use them unless its full.

You can do quite a bit of damage with quickenings if you chain a lot together, but unless you have more than 1 per character it's a waste of mp.

Personally I think the battle system sucks, I only bin playing it for 3 hours but I seriously don't like it. The story is very good, no doubt about that so far.

I'm glad theyre going back to basics with 13 (at least close to it :)

Good God. Got the game yesterday and I slept at 4am because if it. the battle system thought sucked at first but man it grows on you and it's really fantastic and a welcome change as well. The game is truly a masterpiece no doubt about it!!!

^^ indeed, truelly awesome, i for one also thought the battle system was shyt but once you get your head round it it is great fun :D

i have one issue with the game, the summons.... :( there all new :( what happened to the classics we all know and love *crys*

Actually some of the new summons are much better than the old ones, in design.

I just got this lightening one half goat half human and a half horse half vampire one aswell :P (only SE could dream these things up :P)

The one thing i hate about the battle is that gambits take over pretty much all your input, or can do, all i seem to do is run around and let the gambit system do the rest.

So I would agree with Matin on this, because the Gambit system takes away so much of the actual thought and strategy, graphics are stunning and the boss fights are fairly difficult, shame that the spells are kind of lame though.

Hopefully FF13 will be turn based again, similar to the way Blue Dragon did it, that would be great :)
