2007-03-09 16:39:25 GRAW2 Reviews! + Give us your thoughts about the game! I just read the eurogamer review and it sums up what I feel about the game completely especially the end part GRAW 2 is unquestionably a better game than last year's version in almost every respect, but will inevitably suffer in some people's eyes by 'merely' consolidating what was already on offer. It's apparent very early on that Ubisoft decided to stick with the same acclaimed formula, and make a more accessible version of what everyone already liked. In itself, that's fine, but Ubisoft has historically approached 'expansion' sequels to previous Ghost Recon (and Rainbow Six) console games by pricing them accordingly. Anyone who remembers Island Thunder and Summit Strike will remember that they, too, were better than their parent games, and put out at a sensible price. If Ubisoft was brave enough to admit that GRAW 2 is the same kind of offering, we'd insist that it was a must-have game for any strategic shooter fan; especially for those of you who spend a lot of time online. As a full-priced offering, though, the goal posts have moved, and it's hard not to feel a little short changed by the short-lived single player campaign and how similar the whole thing feels. In many ways, GRAW 2 is the classic quick-fire sequel - short on new ideas, but big on polishing what we know and love. But these days, isn't that what people want? Perhaps predictably, Ubisoft still hasn't really nailed the narrative side of the game to any great degree. It does a sterling job of seamlessly integrating the mission briefings into flythroughs, and patching video feed updates to your cross com, but there's still no sense of actually caring about the characters or the purpose of your missions. Once and for all, Ubi needs to go that final mile to really get under the skin of the players, and breathe life into the team you're in command of. From there we might start actually giving a toss about the cause we're fighting for, rather than seeing each Ghost Recon campaign as a series of anonymous shoot-outs. It's a small point, but these Tom Clancy games are crying out for an injection of personality. --- |

2007-03-09 16:48:59 I got my GRAW 2 yesterday, i think i'm on act 2, and i have to say its great so far, its alot more epic than the last one, and the explosions/smoke/lighting effects are the best i've ever seen in a game on any platform, its visually jaw dropping, i'm very impressed so far. |

2007-03-09 17:19:11 It's extremely good, new cross com really upgrades the gameplay (better team management). The game does not look as good as Gears, but I'd say it's on par due to fx and environments size. --- |

2007-03-09 17:27:12 GRAW 2 is much better then the first one imo better graphics explosions are awesome alot of neat touches. The story was good not so good at times though and some good missions and some not so good. But the one thing that let me down is its as short as Gears of War i completed the game day i got it must of been 8 hours worth of gameplay and Elevated Risk (top difficulty) was hardly challenging until Act 3. |

2007-03-09 17:43:51 How long does gameplay take ? If it's worth the money then it should be over 15 hours. --- |

2007-03-09 17:45:41 As i said took me 8 hours singleplayer on top difficulty thought it was very short only 3 Acts quite dissapointed on size of story tbh. But multiplayer is where this game is plus all the good effects updated graphics worth a purchase imo. :) |

2007-03-09 19:11:57 My friend has just gotten the game is Singleplayer Master already. All SP achievements complete. I like it, just not as much as I enjoyed GRAW1. GRAW1 came at just the right time. I had no new 360 shooters, and there wasn't anything else I was interested in. |

2007-03-09 20:26:14 The magazine reviews I've read are pretty accurate. GRAW 1.5 is more like it. Although don't let that disuade you if you liked the First GRAW. This version is more like GRIT was to GRAW, or GR2 Summit Strike was to GR2. It should have been Called GRAW:Insert title here. |

2007-03-10 04:19:56 I'll be skipping GRAW2, felt #1 was overrated and only bought because of lack of 360 games at the time. Now RB6V is the scrizit online. :) |

2007-03-11 11:27:17 I've just finished the campaign and although it's shorter than GRAW1's campaign it's way more fun and intense... --- |

2007-03-11 11:31:30 Im playing it on the medium setting and Its definatly easier than GRAW was. That moment in the training where it switches the time of day to a sunset is absolutely stunning. All in all Im enjoying the campaign more than that of the first game but as I said it feels easier and much shorter. |

I havent really had a chance to get a good multiplayer game yet cause my friends dont have the game but the amount of maps plus the myriad of options means Il be playing this for a long time. PS - One cool thing for fans of GRAW multiplayer is that you can download the map "Nowhere" and it has the redone lighting and everything. I really enjoy using all the new "support" vehicle's! I also finished all the quick mission achievements this morning, now i'm going for all the secondary objectives ! although the campaign is short, the achievements give some meaning behind doing these mission a second time on the quick mission mode! And btw if you want to do some multiplayer add me to your friendslist and i'll invite you to some games i'll be doing every evening with some friends... --- |

2007-03-11 13:00:03 I will do that. Yeah the campaign is definatly more refined and enjoyable. As one review I read said these tom clancy games need to nail a more involving storyline and characters that we can actually care about. If they bring this to the ghost recon franchise I believe it would be perfect. |

2007-03-11 17:43:19 While I don't neccessarily agree with EG all the time they're consistent in not giving a crap about hype and just scoring a game whatever they think it deserves. The 3 for Sonic the Hedgehog is why an 8 for Secret Rings actually MEANS something to me when I read it on there. --- |

2007-03-11 19:30:08 From what little I saw of the game, the single player looks more enjoyable this time around for sure. In multiplayer, I was impressed with the lighting. However, this game (maybe just in terrorist hunt) has some extremely bad FPS issues. I was watching someone do t-hunt on a dam level and he was probably getting ~5 frames per second at most. Er, the first one was smooth :( I also have some issues with how fast it looked like people were moving online, but I was drunk so maybe it was just me. |

2007-03-12 08:45:40 I guess there might have been around 10 t's close by, not sure about smoke though. I don't know though, anyone with the game can confirm... I won't be buying it anyways (<3 vegas too much). |

Because the gamemodes with the enemy AI suffers big time from lag if the hosts got a shitty connection.... But anyway this game is a beauty to me! --- |
