2007-05-02 03:30:40 Virtua Fighter 5 360 Screens. By now, PlayStation 3 gamers have had their hands on the superb Virtua Fighter 5 for over two months - and we can attest, it's a fantastic fighter on that platform. Guess what? The first glimpses we've had of the 360 version, thanks to a trip to developer AM2's headquarters in Tokyo, suggest that the game is going to be just as good - if not better - on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, the tight-lipped developers aren't ready to release details on most of the enhancements. As we expected, true online play on Xbox Live is off the table, since VF5 requires one-sixtieth of a second precision to deliver the fastest and most balanced fighting gameplay known to man. Current network performance simply cannot live up to that. We do know that the game will be receiving some tweaks over the PS3 version, including better anti-aliasing - to make the graphics look smoother. The game will also get analog control - the arcade version, of course, doesn't use it, but the unresponsive Xbox 360 D-pad makes it a must. --- |

2007-05-02 04:00:54 Analog control is a joke though. They should just fix the damn d-pad already.. |

2007-06-22 13:31:10 Yeah that's right, I bumped this old thread instead of making a new one. That's how I rollz The info we did get was basic overall with some interesting tidbits thrown in. To sum up, the game will have 720p support and offer the core content found in the PS3 game. In addition, the team is improving the AI, as well as adding analog stick support and rumble. The dojo mode will now feature exact recoveries to help players perfect their timing and also let you change your starting positions if you so desire. Though not related to the software, Sega noted that Hori is planning on releasing a fighting stick for the game in the US. So far everything looks very, very close to the PlayStation 3 and, in a few spots, just as good. Aliasing even seemed to be a bit cleaner on the bitmap portions of the backgrounds, such as Jeffrey's island stage. The overall texture quality was good though some needed refining here and there. Color in the game stood out a bit; depending on the stage, the palette seemed to be a bit on the dark side and didn't pop quite as much as the PS3 game, but the game is still early and sure to be obsessed over by the dev team until it meets AM2's crazy standards. We can't comment specifically on gameplay until we try the game out ourselves, but it seems to move as speedily as the PS3 and the fighters animate smoothly. We obviously have a raft of specific questions about the various enhancements the game is set to have, but since Sega wasn't talking specifics yet, we'll just have to hope AM2 is going to do more than port the PS3 game. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/798/798595p1.html no quotes for you --- |

2007-06-22 13:32:23 Bring it on.. I'm still ashamed of the fact that I don't own the PS3 version. Don't see the point now though.. if I have waited this long, I can probably wait til the 360 version ships. I'll just have to play it a lot to make up for it. |

2007-06-22 14:06:28 I wish someone would just make an USB stick that works on both systems already. Especially with Tekken 5 DR and with Tekken 6 starting to look rather spiffy I'd really like a stick for the PS3 aswell. --- |

2007-06-22 16:27:24 Yeah I have bucketloads too, but my issue is that I don't like to readjust for different sticks. If the PS3 and 360 sticks are the same I might pick up one of each though. --- |
