2007-06-07 01:37:41 They really need to update the engine. It looks like their old project, Hitman. That was a hint to all of you who were wondering. |

2007-06-07 08:59:45 I'm a native speaker and this sentence doesn't make much sense. But Vaterland means "Homeland" (in a patriotic way). --- |

About the Trailer: Lynch’s German and English voices are equally good and convincing imo. However, Kane deliver is better in English. Well, just my little input…I should play the game first anyway. Besides, I don’t think anyone really cares that much about VAs as much as I do lol --- |

2007-06-07 10:28:54 In reply to docLEXfisti (2007-06-07 08:59:45) Posted by docLEXfisti I'm a native speaker and this sentence doesn't make much sense. But Vaterland means "Homeland" (in a patriotic way). To answer the question about the name of the video (which I have gotten a couple emails about. No, it is not a line of dialog from the video. There is a colloquialism in English, "Raising Cain," which is usually interchangeable with "raising hell", even though they are technically different things. Cain (from Cain and Able) in English is also a homonym with Kane, which is the name of one of the titler characters from the game. The idea of the sentence was to make a pun of the English saying, "Raising Cain," but to replace the noun Cain, with it's homonym Kane, and state it in German, which is the language the trailer is dubbed . . . and where it would probably make absolutely no sense. So what the sentence should have said was: "Raising Kane in the Fatherland," which in a sense is what the character Kane was doing in the video, raising a lot of hell (in the German language). However, here is the problem. I have not had much use of my ability to speak/write/read German beyond the most elementary of cases in years (it is very unfortunate, as at one point I was said to have been pretty good at it). So needless to say, I am very rusty. Which probably means the sentence makes even less sense (if that is even possible). What I should have been looking for was a German equivalent for the English "Raising Cain," colloquialism, and then attempting to see if I could make a Kane & Lynch pun based on that. Oh well, no one is perfect. And only a German speaking person would even know the title is totally messed up. |
