Wow. First 5mins in, I'm definitely saying this is the best looking game I've every played. Great motion blur, sense of speed, lighting. It was perfect in the first scene. Well, once I get deeper into the game I hope to be further impressed. Whats your guys thoughts so far?

The character models are pretty damn ugly.. but that doesn't mean the overall appearance sucks. The videos look pretty solid, at least. Phaethon told me this game gave him a headache though.. bad news for those sensitive to motion sickness?

I wish Gamestop would hurry up and get their review up.

Well, I have noticed that during the textures are incredibly low res. I've heard people state that the 360 had better textures, I can't believe the PS3 would have anything worse. If you're in an area with flatter lighting, then it looks really bad. The lighting and extensive motion blur really hides this fact in alot of scenes, but during a phone call, its impossible to hide. Still, if you're running and gunning, it looks amazing.

My copy will be arriving tomorrow. I will post my extensive impressions after I play some tomorrow. By extensive I mean either "it fuckin rocks" or "this game is wank". I shall be expecting a drum roll.

I'm a few hours into it at the moment, and I'm definitely digging it. There are a few graphical/AI shortcomings, but this is definitely a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Like someone else said, if you're just running along being immersed in the game, it looks great.

One thing I absolutely love is the hand movements when you get near objects. It makes you feel a lot more action-starrish, and it eliminates the tiny gun perspective problem that tons of other FPSes have. If you aren't sure what I mean, pop in an FPS and run into a wall...or better yet, pop in Condemned and kick a wall. Your gun/foot will look tiny.

Also, the executions simply do not get old.

I haven't tried the MP yet, but based on what all the reviews have said, it might stay that way :S

Well I've put in a good solid 10hrs into it. Unlocked a bunch of bonus content and I think I'm almost half way done. I'm loving the Demon Arm. Using it to take out lights is great. And you can pick up people and throw them, or pick up cars and throw them at people. Just a whole lot of ways to kill to do cool stuff.

I had to take out a group of dirty cops paid of by Paulie. Turned out the lights, picked up the cop car, threw it at the leader, shot the two of the other guys, last guy was hiding behind a dumpster so I flushed him out with the Demon Arm Sneak move. Then I picked up the cop car again and threw it, and it landed on the roof of a nearby building. Place looked gruesome after I was done. Turned off my powers and walked back to the subway avoiding scared civilians. Awesome.

Just got done with my first few hours. I'm BEYOND impressed with this game's visuals, woweewowow.

And yeah, I don't think I have ever gotten motion sickness from a video game before but this one had me feeling a little woozy at times.

If you are from the UK when you pre-order games at GAME you get them a day early. Got my copy of the darkness today along with a free comic. Im loving the game so far. Very immersive. Graphics are great but one thing that annoys me is the crappy lip syncing.

germany. bought it on play.com (uk) and at the website says it was posted yesterday, so fingers crossed in the hopes that i'll have a nice weekend ...

hope it rains as well, so i don't feel so bad saying to my girlfriend that i won't join her for an afternoon at the lake :P

Totally with you on that one. I'm suprised it's not better, everything else is top notch.

I dunno why facial animation is so low on everyone's priority list. When it's not done well it can completely kill a character, no matter how detailed the stubble on the chin is. And when it's done well (Tekken Dark Resurrection on PSP comes to mind) it can take a normal looking game model and turn it into a living, breathing person.

loving it, only real gripes with the game is the previously mentioned lip syncing (mainly on jackie which i find strange) and the problem which comes with all games that use this solid character FPS method, where becasue you have legs that are actually walking around (unlike say halo where the legs are purely for show) you can get stuck on the smallest bit of debris. other then that tho, loving it. executions are AWESOME. story is great, some good twists so far, and i love the adapting aiming system, so you can shoot over crates or round corners. very natural feeling. it is getting a bit easy tho now i have the darkness powers (just returned from hell). at the begining when i was human i was getting my ass handed to me.

Since when is 83% (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/darkness) average? Last time i checked 50% was average. FYI GRAW II and Shivering Isles were 86%, were those average?

This game is far better, IMO, than the reviews its been getting. Its been a long time since I've enjoyed a single player FPS as much as this. Iv also played some multiplayer which is actually really fun, but the netcode is shit or something cause it lags like a bitch with more than 6 people. Hopefully won't be waiting 6 months like COD2 for a patch. I love this game.

Er...since it samples reviews from several diferent sites and averages it! like i dunno 1up (90), Gamespot (85), teamxbox (84)...Quite ABOVE average if you ask me, and quite a measure for the reviews online.
But hei, you buy the games you want, just don't say it's been having average reviews, cause its not true and its disinformation.
